"Just add a bit there... tiny bit more sharpening... No, no ,no... bit more... bit more..." The hushed whispers of Rusty Hetfield filled his room. The mechanic was working overtime, jacket and shirt clinging to his body, persperation dripping down his face. He was on the verge. The literal VERGE of finishing it off. His new weapon. He'd even thought up of names and moves and all kinda of things! And here it was. So. Goddamn. Close. All that was left, literally the last thing, was the flame jets on the tip. As soon as he got both of those working, he'd be able to actually use this thing and try it out. The weapon had been transformed from the plain drag gunmetal grey steel axeblade to a night black base, shimmering when the slightest hint of light touched it's surface. A white chain design, expertly designed, wound it's way around, gleaming against the black underbody until it reached the axe heads themselves, the entire head as a tribute to the Halford. Six strings made their way down it's neck, three red on the left, three blue on the right. They connected to the tuning points at the headstock of the weapon, which her placed to act as finger holds for Rusty's hands. Knuckle guards surrounded the headstock, spiked and allowing for a vicious punch if the mechanic ever needed it. On one half of the weapon, a small red flame design was dotted on the corresponding axe head. On the other, blue flames. It was awe-inspiring, even to Rusty. But how had he managed it? He was a mechanic, not a weapon designer! Well, Epsilon had said his seithr output would return eventually. So determined was he to finish off this glorious piece, he MAY have jury-rigged an impromptu seithr circuit. Using His Soul Pick. MONUMENTALLY stupid, but it had paid off. As soon as Rusty had recovered from the trauma induced knock out from the backlash of using his Soul to infuse seithr into a weapon, the axeblades had appeared as described, the change having gone unobserved. Perhaps it was for the best. However, two gaps at the axe blades heads indicated the final piece of the puzzle. Two flame jets, specifics on the nearby workbench, were needed. Rusty still wanted SOME ranged offence, after all. "Micah, if there was ever a time for you to show up..." |

A series of coughs sounded from the entrance to the smithy. In the door stood a familiar wolf beastkin, dressed in civilian clothes now and with his arm bandaged and in a light sling due to the torn muscle he suffered evacuating SureShot. As he stepped into the room, his ears kind of bobbled and he said, "You been blowing things up in here without me? Smells like seithr and charcoal."

"That's because it is seithr and charcoal." Rusty muttered, eyes not leaving the weapon. For a second, he stared at it, but then he blinked and rubbed his eyes, the abused orbs strained and slightly reddened. He'd worked himself to the brink again and he wasn't about to risk getting knocked out again like before. He still had the bruise on his head from where Desmond had forcibly KO'd him. Moving away from the weapon, the mechanic flopped into a chair and took a sip of water. "Good to see you, Micah." he said simply, a tired smile plastered on his face. "How're you holding up?" |

Chuckling, Micah replies, "Not much better than you look, Mr. Hetfield. SureShot's basically demolished thanks to those Library asses, and I almost got a couple people killed. Stephen broke his wrist - that 'Epsilon' fellow is still patching him up. Monoc is now short a transport, and their pilot's lucky his back isn't broken because of that - he ejected. Lang nearly went and got himself captured - God only knows what would've happened to him if he had. We all were fortunate that first Sector Seven and then Ms. Alucard decided to intervene." He sighs, awkwardly settling himself into another chair before continuing, "It's good to see you, as well. We never did get back together on that carrying bag for your Ars, did we?" |

"Sureshot got done in as well? Man... Duct Tape's completely destroyed too for the exact same reason. The N.O.L's not happy at all, it seems." Rusty muttered, head lolling back slightly. For the rest of Micah's explanation, he stayed silent, merely listening and nodding slightly. He did blanch at hearing the fate of The Brigand though. Looks like he was never going to get his hands on that beautiful ship after all. "Don't worry about the bag, mate." Rusty waved him off. "It was for The Halford and that axe has shredded it's last. Besides, what with the stunt we pulled in Kagutsuchi, as soon as we met up again, the N.O.L would have been on us like vultures." He just chuckled slightly. "Man...that already seems like so long ago. But hell man, I'm just glad you're okay. And your crew, despite the injuries thing." |

Micah frowns a bit as he hears about the Duct Tape, and he asks, "They attacked your shop, too? I thought you were avoiding it. That is just petty and spiteful - I thought they claimed to be better than that." A dark sort of smile took his face as he continued, "From what I can see, the Librarium has every reason not to be happy. And I'm hoping that someone here will give us the chance to make them even less happy." At the mention of the Halford, his ears drop, and he asks, "I take that to mean that it's been destroyed? I would say that it's a terrible thing, but if it was destroyed fighting the NOL, then it was a worthy sacrifice. It's too bad, though. I managed to salvage some material that I was using for prototyping bags..." He fishes in a pocket with his good hand, and shortly produces a rolled-up ball of dark fabric. He shakes it out, and it unfolds into a two-foot-by-two-foot piece of black aramid-weave with a patch velcroed onto it. The patch was black as well, but it had a white electric guitar embroidered onto it - a guitar that was clearly inspired by Rust's old weapon. Edited by vicroc4, Jul 24 2012, 11:58 PM.

Rusty shook his head. "I went back a couple of nights ago after me and Jagd blew up the Wadatsumi HQ." he explained, before wincing at how casually he said that. "Sorry, didn't mean to seem so blasé. They'd kidnapped my sister and I just went nuts. We got so fucking lucky though. There's no way we should have pulled that off, but somehow, we did." He let that sink in, just thinking upon it himself. "Anyway, cutting through a lot of BS, we managed to get her back safe. She's still the same person, which I'm thankful for, but the N.O.L bumped my status up. Dunno if you heard about it on the news or not." Actually...who HASN'T seen that news by now? He did sigh upon Micah's guess though. "Yeah, she's gone. Helluva weapon and you're damn right it was a worthy sacrifice. But you got material?" The mechanic blinked and took it from Micah's hand, holding the material up to the light for a moment examining it. After a moment, he gave a low whistle. "Man...this is high quality stuff... Mate, how did you even find the people who got you this stuff?" |

Micah chuckles a bit. "Yes, I did hear about your... exploits. The news made it out to be a 'terror attack,' of the same magnitude as the 'terror attacks' that the Bloodedge has been executing. Frankly, I think that both stories are a crock of hooey, but I was kind of nervous when I heard that the two main suspects were a customer of mine, and the man I'd helped escape the Librarium in Kagutsuchi. It makes a bit more sense now, if you were rescuing your sister - Lord knows, I'd probably have gone similarly nuts if they had captured Laika." He frowns and shrugs as Rust answers about the Halford, saying, "Well, it went out doing what it was made for. Almost as good an end as a weapon can hope for." Smiling again, as Rust takes the cloth from his hand, Micah continues, "I had several suppliers that worked with ballistic fabrics and armor - one was kind enough to give me a bolt of the stuff to play with. It's interesting to work with, and has several uses on guns themselves, but I mainly use it for prototyping gun cases and carry bags for clients. This was kind of a test swatch for your own bag, to get your approval before I sent the specs off to the manufacturer. Hence the patch." |

Rusty blanched. "Ah shit... Yeah, I can understand you being nervous. They coulda traced me back all the way to you helping me out in Kagutsuchi. Even if I was only B-Class then, it's still a hefty thing to be wanted for." the mechanic nodded slowly. He smiled softly at Micah's interpretation of his weapon's death then listened intently to his description of the ballistics fabric. "Hmm...maybe if you were really outrageous, you could manage to make a jacket out of the stuff." he cracked. "It'll never tear, can absorb punishment...would be hella expensive though." He trailed off slightly before shrugging. "Ignore me, I already have one crazy ass design for you to look at. Would you mind?" |

A snort, and Micah shrugs. "Well, we're here now, so we're relatively safe at the moment. Ms. Alucard seems to have some pretty good security in place, so thank God for that." He tries to resist laughing at Rust's idea for body armor, and fails. Shaking his head, he says, "Well, that's a novel idea. Only problem is, I only have about three yards left - nowhere near enough for a jacket. A vest, maybe - similar to the ones that Monoc uses, that could work." Shrugging again, he's about to continue when Rust mentions the design. Glancing at the weapon nearby, his ears perk and his tail starts swishing slowly. "Sure, let's have a look. I'm presuming it has something to do with your new guitar, there?" |
