The alarm on the outer wall of the compound gives a sad little crackle as Ashley rewires its trigger circuit into the nearby fire alarm system, then snips the original cord with a satisfied little laugh. Then she closes the maintenance box and welds it shut with a handheld blowtorch. "I figure once this place is on fire we'll probably get noticed anyways." she comments, and moves up tbreak owards the gate. Her face is streaked with thick camofluage paint the same shade as her fatigues, which blends into the dull concrete and steel of the compound, breaking up her outline. She follows 'round the corner, and follows the wall the entire way, past a triple set of cameras she'd all disabled by uploading a video loop. There's a pair of guards at the main gate, one on either side in protected booths with heavy, powerful-looking rifles slung beside them. Ashley gnaws her lip for a moment. "I'm not a gun freak like Boss is, but I think those aren't healthy." She comments. "And we can't go through the compound walls, there's a deadtrap Ars on them that shrieks like a banshee when broken. I'm not good enough to move it. Think the gate's the best option. Anyone got a plan?" |

"We could take them out silently if Des had come with us...goddamn it." Rusty whispered back, camo bandanna and jacket on after months of wearing white. The bandanna covered his face, masking his voice slightly, making it impossible to read his lips and only exposing his eyes and hair. He thought a bit. You need to: A) Get inside the compound B) Remove those two guards from the gate C) Not set off the alarm The gears in his head began to turn. What were their resources? Himself, Micah, Ashley and... "Maybe an intentional distraction? Draw their attention away?" Iron Tager suggested, keeping low and out of sight, his colouring not ideal for stealth. "Wouldn't that set off the entire place though? They're jumpy enough as it is. Micah, does Fornax have a long range silenced option?" Rusty asked, looking to the wolf beastkin. "Cause if not, we're gonna have to go for a rush assault and try to deal with them before they sound the alarm. ...when the fuck did you become leader of this little troupe? Back the fuck off. Micah or Tager are gonna lead this thing. |

Surveying the guards' armaments, Micah whispers, "No, Ms. Dunmainn, they're not. Only good thing that I see is that they're likely only semiauto - fire volume won't be quite as high. Still, it'd suck to be pegged by one of those - .30-06, if I'm not mistaken." He'd replaced his normal jeans-and-t-shirt ensemble with a camouflage jacket and pants, and he was fiddling with the clasp on a pistol holster on his belt. Fornax hung at his side, on a black strap instead of its usual white. Glancing over at Rust, his ears dipped as he said, "Well, unfortunately, there's nothing long-range about Fornax. Also nothing quiet - we're basically talking grenades here. I do have a pistol, but that probably won't get through the glass." Taking a deep breath and letting it out, he continues, "Unless any of you have another alternative, we might just have to go in full-tilt." |

Ashley shakes her head, pulling out her Scout - a small computing pad with a variable interface that could link with virtually any wired system, or just utilitize wireless - and punching it live. "Has to be something I can do." She mutters, and her tongue creeps out over her bottom lip, a concentration tic. She scrolls through several submenus, dives into restricted protocols after bouncing off the ever-present handshake requests from the main server, and lets out a happy chirp as she discovers a small command folder in an administration datacache marked EMERPROC.tld. She opens it, and her smile grows wider. "I love emergency disaster plans." she hums, as she begins to dissect command lines and insert gibberish into the ones that don't suit her. "Psycho military people always have a ton of them, and they store them away and forget about them, never clean out the disconnected caches once they update the latest stuff. They tend to do really funky things, like this one air raid simulation thing -" The booths chime, and the nearest guard glances up, startled, just as the windows slide shut and both buildings slam downwards with a hiss of hydraulics into an underground shelter. Steel sheets slide over the top and seal the bunkers shut, and steam hisses as the hidey-holes pressurize, sealing off from the outside. The entire process takes less than two seconds. "Those bunkers are airtight." Ashley notes, standing up and flipping her Scout off. "I imagine those stooges will be having problems in about sixty seconds." A satisfied grin. "Scrambled their radios to CB band too. Noontide Passions might get an extra bit of radio noise, but I don't think anyone on this base listens to that crap either." Rusty shot Ashley a look when her little display of techno wizardry finished. "Seriously, we even needed on this mission?" he asked, with a hint of irritability. "Just you and Micah and you probably would've done fine. Thought you said you were looking to us for ideas. Cause I just about had one." Shaking his head, the mechanic nevertheless made his way over to the gate, taking out his minature toolset and began work on the door. A couple of seconds later, it swung open with a metallic screech. "There we go." "Cholin, you take point. I'd prefer that shotgun pointing forward if need be and you can scout ahead with your talents. Hetfield, second. You know the area, you can direct us. Miss Dunmainn, third. I'll take up the rear." The Red Devil advised, getting in position. "We will not go looking for a fight here. A simple extraction is all we're after." |

Micah blinks as Ashley finishes, slightly off-kilter with the ease at which their first obstacle was removed. "Next time, please don't wait to do something like that. Things will go much more smoothly." Nodding, Micah acknowledges Tager's directions. Looking over at the giant, he says, "Right, and I'd much rather not have to shoot over peoples' heads, if it can be prevented." He makes his way to the front of the little group, bringing Fornax to a ready position when he gets there. Ears twitching this way and that, he listens for any sign of activity before looking back at the group and saying, "Sounds like it's clear for now. Y'all ready?" |

Ashley frowns. "Well I'm not psychic, I can't know if it'll work ahead of time." she grumbles, and moves up behind Rust, punching him in the shoulder. "If y'all ain't gonna come up with something I gotta pick up the slack, right?" She turns to the open gate and blinks as a soldier in battered armor hops out of a nearby barracks and turns their way. There's a vaguely familiar sword on his back, and a scratched 05 is painted on the front of his breastplate. A moment of mutual staring. "YOU MOTHERFUCKERS AGAIN!" 05 bellows, and goes for his sidearm. |

Rusty didn't react much to getting punched in the shoulder, just sending a glowering look Ashley's way once her back was turned. Shaking his head slightly, he fell into line just as Tager ordered. Then 05 popped out. Rusty stared back at 05. 05 stared at him. "YOU MOTHER FUCKER AGAIN!" he yelled, the exact same time as 05, instantly drawing Moody Blue, aiming and firing off a quick fireball as the soldier went for his sidearm. Using that as cover, he darted in, Red Special flashing to his other hand as he combined them once more into Metallica. "You shot me in the goddamned shoulder!" Tager sighed. This was going to be one of those missions. "Cholin, Dunmainn! Get to the presses. Myself and Hetfield will keep them occupied here for the moment. Signal us in the best way you can once you have the secure and ready for extraction! Go!" 05's shout had been enough. Various other soldiers were beginning to pile out of the woodwork, however, the alarm switch meant that only those that had heard 05's cry were coming into to aid him, rather than the entire compound just descending like a swarm of angry bees. Ashley was already proving her worth on this mission. Three soldiers foolishly tried to detain the Red Devil Tager had a contingency. "SLEDGE!" The three soldiers were buffeted into the air, Tager's magnetic blade of energy launching them skyward, just in time to meet his descending fists. "HAMMER!" Blinking as Rust seems to recognize one of the soldiers, Micah brings Fornax up, Ars glowing. Then Tager's orders register, and he nods, flipping the fire-selector switch on Fornax to turn the Ars off. He gestures towards a low building, marked with a large "7" above the entrance, and yells to Ashley, "Building 7 - that's the ammunition factory! You go ahead, I'll come up behind and make sure that nobody follows us."

05 throws himself backward on the ground, the fireball flying by overhead, and draws his sidearm, which he aims at Rust and fires twice as he scrambles to his feet again. "Come on, shit-for-brains, I got presents for you!" The soldier backpedals into the door of the barracks he had just emerged from, using it as cover as he pops off another shot at Rust. Ashley snatches up her Scout and starts to book it for building 7, but freezes as a pair of soldiers emerge from a gate within the seventh building, both wielding rifles and the Air Corps drop armor, and open up in her direction. She shrieks and scuttles out of the line of fire behind a nearby jeep, as from behind the Drop Squad emerge their escorts: a pair of heavy-bodied golems, each equipped with a rotary chaingun. Bullets smash the jeep's windows and punch holes in its siding. The programmer hisses, flips out her Scout, and plugs it into the jeep for a moment, executing a quick program. A moment later the engine starts, and Ashley latches onto the side door as the vehicle leaps forward. Bullets slam into it, but the speed helps prevent damaging shots - and a moment later, Ashley leaps off as the jeep slams into one golem and smashes it against the wall with a crunch of metal, and sends the soldier beside it spinning with a brief tag. The Monoc hacker stumbles inside the building and throws herself behind the nearest wall for cover. The soldiers recover and go hunting after her, as the last golem levels its gun at Micah and opens fire, stalking towards him steadily. |
