Battle Moves In addition to the eight Basic Moves, all characters have access to the following moves during the course of battle. Defend a Secure Position: When you hunker down and defend a secure position, roll+Hard. On a 10+, hold 3. On a 7-9, hold 1. While holding your position, you may spend your hold 1 for 1 to: - Grant someone in your position 2-cover (lost in the same way as Ward, non-refreshable). - Grant yourself 2-cover (lost in the same way as Ward, non-refreshable). - Suppress an assault against your position, the enemy must stop their advance for one tick. On a miss, your position is no longer secure – it’s now untenable, and you proceed accordingly. Maintain an Untenable Course: When you soldier through an untenable course or hold an untenable position, roll+Hard. On a hit you can hold it, and you’ll come under only incidental fire, even past 9:00. On a 7-9, things are still untenable or insecure, you’re glitched until you’re safe. On a miss, you have to abandon your position now or suffer concentrated fire. Follow Through: When you follow through on someone else's move, roll+Hx (for PCs) or +Cool (for NPCs). On a hit, choose one: - You make an untenable position secure - You dominate someone's position - You inflict terrible harm - You create an opportunity that anyone can follow through on, the GM will tell you what On a 7-9, the GM will also choose one: - You take concentrated fire now. - Your position is now untenable, and you proceed accordingly. - You miss noticing something important. Hit the Deck: When you throw yourself out of harm's way, roll+Sharp. On a hit, you're safe for now. On a 7-9, the GM will choose one of the following: - You’re pinned down, and glitched until you relocate or the incoming fire stops - You dropped/lost something essential - You take 1-shock Provide Covering Fire: When you provide covering fire for someone, roll+Cool. On a hit, you keep them from coming under fire for that tick of combat. On a 7-9, their position or course is untenable, and they proceed accordingly. On a miss, they suffer concentrated fire now. |
