Pleistocene Epoch Calabrian age October 9th 2:60 AM Central Australia By around this time. There would be large wombats, marsupial lions, and Huge kangaroos. But this is not our world, this world belongs to the dinosaurs. The climate has gotten drier and cooler due to the build up of ice. Around this time the Ice caps in central Antarctica threaten the coastal forests but never reach them. The whole world is affected by the Ice age but unlike our ice age, the fatality rates are not as severe. A Psychrotitanid Sauropod, a small long necked dinosaur. Travels the central desert for the a oasis. Many of these small desert forests dot the area but have become rare due to the recent change in climate. The sauropods themselves have also become rare. There once were 6 or more genre of Australian and Antarctic Sauropods, now there is only the Psychrotitanid group. Soon Australia will only have one species while Antarctica retains at least two. As these rare creatures march on, a Lophodracid pterosaur surveys the area. These pterosaurs are related to the tapejarids of South America and arrived in Australia during the times when Antarctica, South America, and Australia formed land bridges. It continues to glide until a Notogryphemid pterosaur hits it in the air. The pterosaur has a tear in its wing and plummets into the sands of the desert. While Tapejarids are the kings of South America, they are bullied out side of their domain. The large pterosaur lands and approaches the dead reptile only to find a Madtsoiid already half way through swallowing it. Annoyed at this, the pterosaur flies off to look for more prey. Farther to the west a strange group of animals dwell with in a oasis, Camelosaurids. Small Rhabdodonts related to ancient animals like Muttabarasaurus. These large long necked creatures feed on the leaves of the trees and grasses around the only water source for miles. The youngest in the flock walk away and notice a rock. The rock suddenly begins to rise and reveal that it is not a rock but instead it is a living fortress. A Minmisaurid ankylosaur. A descendent of minmisaurus who is in turn named after its ancestor minmi. The armored dinosaur with its simple bumpy scutes and armored but weaponless tail walks toward the small pond and begins to drink. The deserts of this world are indeed unforgiving and this window into it shows a desert after a rainstorm, a false sense that the desert is a paradise when really it will dry out days later. For now it just shows that though not a forest or grand swamp, life can thrive no matter where it is. Edited by The Dark Phoenix, Apr 22 2016, 01:36 AM.
