It is clear the KC Breed Watch Scheme is here to stay. So the question is, does it need enhancing and how can it work for us?

The firts thing to consider is if the breeds and the judging are sufficiently 'watched'. In my view once per quarter per breed is insufficient.

That's interesting Sue. When you say once per quarter, this is in relation to? Clearly something I'm not aware of. :(

I was told by the KC (when querying the long and profuse coat claim for OES) that anything in 'Breed Watch' is short term and can be taken off the list. I cannot understand this when some breed concerns would take many years to change.
Something else that worries me is that judges are supposed to check 'Breed Watch' before they judge in case there is something new to take notice of. Fine for judges at the top of the tree whe seem to receive notifications but when are C & B list judges told this?

I was aware of that too, Elaine. So, what suggestions for getting it out there? Also I think when the KC say short term, they mean it can be removed 'fairly' easily, or that it's not an issue at the moment, but needs to be watched. What do you think?
