Hey all, since the games seem to be up and running, I will not be interjecting into threads any further to enforce any aspect of the rules excepting posting order. I will instead PM you if I feel something is amiss in a certain thread.

That said, I've had some time to gather an idea of what posts look like on the forums so far, and I've decided to make a list of common posting guidelines to help you along. None of these are really "official" rule changes, just clarifications and new points raised since the game start I feel should be brought up.

1. Respect all of the basic rules listed in the Rules and FAQ.

2. Remember to writer the ((Continued from)) and ((Continued in)) tags each time your character enters or leaves an area. If it is a start topic, be sure to note so by writing ((Character: Start)) at the top of the first post.

3. Speaking of start posts, it's best to only have each character ever join one "Start" topic. Likewise, try and figure out what time each thread takes place in before joining. Be realistic about time, and if all else fails, PM me and I'll figure out when the thread is set chronology-wise.

4. Respect posting order. This can get chaotic at times. If you do skip posting order, be sure you have permission from the other writers in the topic, in which case just note so by writing something like ((Permission granted to post out of order))

5. One-sentence posts are strongly discouraged. It's not terribly hard to beef them up a bit.

6. This might be the most important one: UNPLANNED BATTLES are also discouraged. Plan out every fight with a user beforehand, or at least plan a few steps ahead of the current post. Unplanned battles lead to disorganized posting and puppetting. Be sure to establish beforehand with your RPing partners who the stronger combatant is, so the weaker one can come away wounded or dead. Or maybe you want one to flee? It's up to you, but it saves a lot of trouble...

7...such as this. Say you're fighting another character, and in your post you say "I fire a machine gun six or seven times" and the other player writes "My character dodges every bullet", no matter how impractical it seems. This is a direct consequence of an unplanned fight. BE sure you know what the other RPer wants to happen before you fire your machine gun, and work the fight out before hand.

8. This is a really important one. Don't move around too too much in one day. I recommend limiting each of your characters to no more than three threads each per day, at most (unless there's a really good reason for it). The island is a big place, and the odds of running into competitors while traveling all across the island are comparatively slim. Even the tunnels are sprawling. It is highly unlikely anyone could travel on foot to more than two adjacent areas per day, yet I've seen certain characters basically cross half the island in the few hours it's been so far. Try to strive for realism when it comes to the loosely enforced game time on here.

9. Never leave a thread, then come back to it later. Create a new thread or join a new one each time you leave.

10. Avoid double-posting whenever possible, unless a substantial amount of time has passed since your last post. Write ((X amount of time later)) or something to that affect if that is the case.

11. Strive for realism at all times. This can be easily achieved by having the people you RP in in each thread review your work. Take it slow and make the best posts possible. Plan your fights before hand, so they don't seem like both sides are trying to god-mod their way out of death or injury.

12. If you want to beef up your fight posts but can't do so without puppeting another character's actions, ask the other Roleplayers whose characters you want to puppet first for permission. It saves time and posts.

Honestly, the biggest thing I have to stress is communication. Communication between the various RPers in a thread makes a thread look like a story, and not, well, like, a big fight that is basically a collection of posts about two users trying to avoid wounds. Work out the wounds, deaths, and any other aspects of the thread beforehand, rather than just entering into a topic without planning. It would eliminate 90% of the problems I see here, and bring out the strengths. For example, when joining a new thread, communicate with everyone in that thread before posting in the thread. Plan out your topics, be they dialogue, a short fight, a long one, and so on.

Remember that this really isn't a game you can play to win, it's a bunch of writers working together to tell a story, one that hopefully has some meaning to it beyond "a bunch of people fight". Let's tell the best Fight to the Death contest we possibly can, guys. :D

There. That's all. If you need any clarification on any of these, post below. Now have a great time, and let the game continue!

P.S. This is not at all meant as a criticism of anyone or all. Please don't take it that way. Nor am I really trying to expressly forbid stuff here, like a rule change. Just some stuff I'd like to discuss before the games get seriously started.
