[Cont'd from Mission Log 4]

Apex and Alec traveled through the Woods without incident.

The terrible rotting stench heralded the swamps as Apex drew near. Greenish water was commonplace here, and towering trees blocked out most of the sky. Fortunately, luminescent slugs provided some light, or Apex might have walked into a tree.

Apex sighed. He missed his thermal filters.

“Alright. Alec, you scan the area. I have no filters with me, so you’ll get the job done faster than I can. I’ll hunt down a Rahi or two.”

Nozev scanned the immediate area. "We're clear," he replied. "Go hunt these 'Rahi' of yours. I'll stand guard." The last thing he wanted was his new source of weaponry being shot in the back by some sharpshooter. Of course, the Sharpshooter would not last long after kill Apex; Nozev would see to that.

It didn't take long for Apex to nab a couple of bloated slugs and then step on them with his massive feet.

He then ripped off several pieces of bark and created two crude containers.

"Here, Alec. Take as much animal fat as you can, and dunk it into this here bark container. Then, we'll find a way to ignite the blades, most likely in the Lava Flows."

"It's Nozev," the Hero grunted as he shoved the fat into the 'container'. Being a former Hero and a robot, gross stuff like this did not affect him.

"It's full!" He called to Apex.

"Alec, Novez, whatever. Names are just names, nothing more," Apex replied.

Apex then snapped off a big chunk of wood, at headed for the Lava Flows, motioning for Alec, or rather, Novez, to follow. In the Lava Flows, Apex would create his headquarters, and simply wait for for contestants to come to him, or carefully plan their untimely demises.

Nozev followed, lugging the fat with him. He didn't t bother to ask where they were going or why he was to one carrying the fat. Not that either of those things mattered.
