I'm sure you're all aware of the Rick Roll- the internet phenomenon where you post a seemingly innocent video link, only to get redirected to a video of Rick Astley's 'Never Gonna Give you Up'. You're probably also aware that this is a recent thing, only starting in the last couple of years when Youtube was at its height. What less people know, is that in the early 90s there was a computer game that was already Rickrolling people: Chrono Trigger. Amusingly, the character who has this as his theme is Robo, who is a robot from the future in a post-apocalyptic world. Apparently the composer for the game was asked if he was inspired by Rick Astley, but he had never heard of him. |
