How fun! I just saw your post !! My parents adopted two sister dogs from a shelter yesterday. They had been there 2 years, because no one wanted to adopt a pair.

I wish I could have been there myself. Had a lot of stuff to take care of that day, but it really did look like fun. Def going next year!

That's awesome about your parents. Always love hearing about the "Happy Tails" :) You know those dogs are in complete heaven being in a home and still being together.

There's a pair like that at this one shelter I support. Gwinn and Rowdy. Been there for 7 years! They just can't be separated...

That is so sad!!! I've done a few runs to pick up the dogs on death row at animal control- I'm a super non confrontational person, but I was minutes away from physically attacking a guy bringing in a 13 year old chocolate lab. I asked him why, he said he "was just tired of taking care of it." I told him that Animal Control isn't like ASPCA or CAPS that try to farm animals to no kill groups when the animals are running out of time. Animal Control gives them 3 days, and they immediately euthanize if the dog has heartworms. I told him he was giving that sweet old dog a death sentence.

And that's the day we officially became a 4 dog family. ;)

I have a friend trying to open a no kill shelter here in her daughter's name who was killed in a flood in 2010. Her daughter was 7 and loved animals. She donated money she earned to animal shelters, at 7! I never even thought of no kill shelters until then. Now I'm all for them getting this one open.

Just thought I'd throw that in there for those interested. I would love for it to be successful. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Kylees-PAWS-for-a-Cause/122932357808926

That's so awesome! Love hearing about senior animals getting that second chance when people "get tired" of them.

They always seem so loyal and grateful.

Wish we could keep the heart of a child forever. That's so sweet and such a good cause.

I'll share the info for sure

Texarkana, Tx. Thanks ladies. My friend lost her mother, daughter, and daughter's best friend in that flood. Every year we do a 5k walk to raise money. I'd love for her to get it going. I can't imagine that grief and if it helps then I'll try whatever I can to help. Even if it's just getting a few more likes and the word spread. Thank you!!!!

No problem. I spent a lot of time driving through Texarkana going back and forth from Houston to Nashville.
