Wait a minute Bobs. Aren't you in New Zealand or somewhere "down under"? You guys don't have Thanksgiving right?
Don't get me started on the Pilgrims. I'm more about the witches in Salem. Your turn, Bobs.

Me? I'm on the "other" coast...Oregon! And this year I've been relegated to third best. My normal peops have other, more important people to have t-giving with...but they don't want to give up my cooking so I'm doing t-giving on Saturday. And I said, since it's not really t-giving, I'd do something like lasagna or pasta vongole but they all had a fit...so I'm doing turkey and trimmings. I'm such a push-over! Sometimes I hate who I am!

I'll prolly have to do a lasagna so my son shuts up. We do linguine and clam sauce on Christmas Eve. And the damn cod fish.
It would be so easy to just stick a stuffed turkey in the oven, but his father (God, rest his soul) always wanted all the Italian food too.
No way am I doing stuffed finger peppers and all that craziness anymore. Maybe I'll do a scampi or Mozambique for an appetizer.
I want them in and out. No all day shit this year. I'm still not with it enough for all that. Who knows how many people this nut kid of
mine invited. I'll straighten it all out Monday and Tuesday. UGH!

Ah but for football time (am until dinner) I'm doing Chinese BBQ pork (I have such a good recipe, it takes 3 days but so worth it!), crab stuffed mushrooms and bread sticks stuffed with garlic and herb cheese...people won't poop for a week!

bobbles, you are in Oregon? I am *trying* to move out there. My hubby has been applying to jobs for a year with very few responses.
My Thanksgiving will be spent volunteering at the animal shelter (I do that every year, but I actually volunteer there regularly-worked today and work every Tuesday that I'm in town for the last 4 years). Perhaps I should still call TMZ or some crap so they know I'm a great humanitarian or something-lmao.

That reminds me... you know you're a famewhore if... (my volunteering reference in this vid was actually inspired by set up crap from a GND on thanksgiving, can you guess who?). At the 1:05 mark http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CK0uOf_k1kY

Is it snowing there, Bobbles? I forgot you are an Oregon girl! My brother just drove up to Washington for something and said the roads were terrible. This area of Texas is just rainy and cold... :(

My family had a restaurant in our local "Little Italy" for many, many years.
My Mom's passed on, my sister divorced and is travelling all over the place.
Just make a good sauce, and you can do anything.

Yeah, I'm on the coast, Astoria. It's pretty mild over here, the other side of the cascades is where you'll get the more "seasonable" weather. I've driven over the cascade mountains 4 times this week, taking my mother for surgery and doctor's appointments and it was a MESS! But I have a good truck, I manage!

As for volunteering, we have a wonderful men's and a women's shelters...I bake for them regularly. And volunteer with the senior center. And with the animal shelter (not as much, it tears my heart out to have to leave them behind) and with the feral cat (catch, spay/neuter/vaccinate and release) program. I love our feral cats!

BATTERED WOMEN and ABUSED CHILREN need as much support as we can give. Society and the courts can only do soooo much.

Bobbles I'm sure you've been to the Goonies house in Astoria right? :-) I used to eat in Astoria once a year on my way to the Rod Run in Long Beach, WA. Still not a fan of the Astoria bridge.

OMG, the Astoria-Megler bridge is an icon! You'd ought to come in October. They close the bridge down to allow people to walk (or run) across...it's a great event! The people who own the goonies house are really sweet, wonderful people...as long as you don't park in their driveway! My dad was onset teacher for the children in all the movies filmed here and had a few little bit parts. My mother got a bit part in Kindergarten Cop but she was determined that she'd get noticed so made kind of a fool of herself

B-) I grew up about 65 miles from Astoria in Washington state now I'm further away in Seattle but it's still not too far away. Yes I've heard the owners of the house are really nice. I've only went to see it once.
