have any of you read the book playground? I'm reading it now. its pretty interesting and yet very sad. The book portrays the mansion as it was in the late 70's... early 80's. so many drugs and strange characters hanging around the mansion at that time. it certainly makes me lower my opinion of hef after reading it. but anyways... thoughts?

I read it a while back. It gave me the creeps! I wonder if she exaggerated in some non mansion related parts. You'll see what I mean. I want to read it again!

Some of the stuff she has written in that one sort of backs up Izzys book which also backs up Kendra's book. So sadly, I think a lot of it is true.

I think the mansion stuff is probably true. I was thinking of the wannabe models and how desperate they would get for coke. Maybe it's just so sad that I want it to be fabricated. :(

Is that the one written by the daughter of the Doctor FeelGood Hef had in residence in the 70's? I'd put it on the same level as Izzy's tome. Some truth, much imagined fabrication. Either way Hef by all accounts, was a twisted bastard. Read the one about by Peter Bogdanovich about the model that her boyfriend killed her. One can just imagine what really went on. Barbie Benton is the one that could really write history. But she's too loyal to Hef. Shannon Tweed wrote a couple of books, but she only hinted at the real deal. I'm surprised that so many of them came out of that time alive. Booze, drugs, and rock n roll. Hef's got the "power". LOL Bet that crazy, Allison Reynolds writes a corker after the old guy is off to the big Playboy in the sky.

From all of their literary accounts, and I use that term loosely, none of the girls seem to be mentally stable when they were living at the mansion.
And, none of them seem psychologically right to me after they leave. JMO
What does that life do to them? :(

I know Jill Ann Spaulding was crazy, but her book mentions how the girls take their two minutes. (Cough Cough) Kinda fits with what Crusty told howard stern, huh?

Yeah, you have a good point there. There are some stories that coincide with all the girls. So..........

I felt very bad for Jill Ann. Because she was one messed up child. Her therapist must make a lot of money off of her. The relationship with "Kendall", the relationship with her father. I would be in constant fear that Hef would want to try something on me if I was 16 years old. No matter how many girls surrounded him. It is, to me at least, no matter how you look at it was a sick environment. Nowadays, I really wonder if Crusty is nothing more than a nurse to him.

Oh that's right. I actually found saved in my favorites Hefnerland. That was Jill Ann, right? She was just so damn pathetic. Or am I wrong again?

What are some of the things that are mentioned in the book? Can anyone do a list of what they found interesting in the book?

I read it online, on the old boards someone posted a link once upon a time. If anyone still has it bookmarked, maybe they could post it again. It really showed the dark side to the mansion.
