I would be happy to try and explain it. Back in the early 60's a man name John Norman began writing a very long series, up to 27 novels in the series now. It is a badly written series in the sense of grammar and such but over all a good sci fantasy. In the story lines are woven philosophies that seem to strike a cord with a good many people of our time and world.

The main ideal is that Gor - the Planet... is based on the natural order. Men are above women and women are not equal to men. In the stories it represents a society that is made up of Masters, Mistress' aka Free Men and Free Women, slaves ,,, women slaves being Kajira and male slaves being kajirus. The latter being the lowest on the totem pole so to speak.

Within the society , Men rule their homes, their women and their property. Slaves being seen as animals , like property to be bought , sold and used at the will of the Free Person. When reading you will discover many cultures and races that interact with one another. The planet ,,, for the most part runs on a caste system. There are a few peoples that do not have caste systems in place. There are 5 high castes and numerous low castes with subcastes beneath those. Castes , for example, are like Fighters - known to goreans as Red Caste. Pyschians , Initiates , Builders and so forth. The books detail some of the castes through the series.

The novels detail a great deal of the interaction between Masters and slaves , and much less definition on the Free Women of Gor. Slaves came in many shapes and colors. Some shipped from Earth and others Gorean bred. There are many types of slaves and purposes for the slaves. The slave basically is there for the pleasure of her Owner and the Free. Service , devotion , pleasure, core workers , dancers, worked in serves in homes in cities as well as camps of nomadic peoples.

Now as it relates to to here and real life , though i am not an expert , and am growing to think that Gor can not be achieved completely as it is in the books,is based on the philosophy and not the encounters of the books. What is often a wavered set of guidelines here in this day and age are held in high regard in the novels. Some of the main points to keep in mind is Honor and Respect.

A slave ( or kajira) is the completeness of what women are in their unrestrained and purest form. The Master collars, purchases for collar or force collars in the books. Even wins her as prize in a challenge or even games.Force collar is not applicable to our here and now, in my opinion in a real world sense. The slave serves that Master or Free Person ( depending upon who owns her at that time)in every manner they see fit to use her. She may be a kitchen slave, a service slave to a Mistress or Free Woman. She may be meant for field work, a dance slave. and in the books often tavern slaves were aplenty.

The slave serves with her heart , she feels her belly ( meaning she has a deep seeded urge or need to please , and serve to make her feel complete) That belly is hard to find and it is hard to keep fired. The right owner i think is necessary to keep those embers billowed and hot. As far as service goes, she will bring food and drink , serve in the bedroom sexually. She or he ,, represents their owners and their behavior can cast light upon the Master /Mistress or home. For me , the allure of this culture , if you wish to call it that , drew me in for what it offered on a larger scale then SEX.

Not many get this about the Gorean Lifestyle. If my opinion offends anyone, then i am sorry. I have been in the online Gor community for 12 years. Served in many collars that all meant and taught something different. None of these collars, nor any of my service depended on how much sex i was or was not getting. This is very much about the way it stimulates the mind , the body and the soul. It should envelop a person on every level , i believe to truly understand what the appeal is in Gor. Gor offers the slave a challenge, to learn , to grow , to adapt , to find her belly in her service, as well as understanding the underlying meaning that is threaded through the John Norman novels.
( I can't speak for the free as i have never been one ,,, lol well one for a whole five minutes)

A slave in service does not mean just sexually , everything she does ,, should bring pride and honor to her Master , her Owner , and that persons home. Things she or he may do outside of the home , helping others of the community , volunteer work or assisting a family member or friend.

I have noticed that over the years , the BDSM lifestyle , D/s as well as the crueler of the kinksters have mingled and mixed Gor into a sexual melting pot. On a basic level , the difference between a Gorean slave and a BDSM sub/slave or a D/s slave it that the books show they did not like nor enjoy punishment. The kinks were not prevalent in the series. Sharing girls , the administering of whippings , chaining to slave rings , leashes and coffles are all in there. Cruelty to slaves was a rarity. Death to slaves did occur. Branding of slaves happened for a few reasons. To show ownership, to impose the mental effect upon the slave to know and learn her slavery.
