Consolidated Nations Alliance

Okay, it's the best title I could come up with and I think this is the right place for this.

Soodean Imperium and I are going to be developing out own Battlecarrier (Battleship/aircraft carrier hybrid/combination). We discussed it in the RMB on NS and decided to come here instead of clogging up the RMB. And so we can find the info easily.

Okay, first the bits we already discussed shall be copy/pasted here.

CNA: Haha maybe we could do a joint operation to build a couple of new Battlecarriers. They're more then big enough. I mean they need room for aircraft, munitions and supplies for the aircraft, ammo for the guns, somewhere for said guns to be set when it's in aircraft carrier or half carrier half battlecruiser mode, and eveything else a ship that's a cross between a battleship and an aircraft carrier would need.

Soodean: I'm currently working on a Supercarrier to match the Nimitz-class everyone else uses; but I can help design the Battlecarrier, too. I'm good with 3D modeling (see the "ships" section of my Factbook thread) and I could probably work out the details using that. It would probably look a little like Japan's old Ise-class: turrets in front, flight deck in back.

CNA: Well my concept of the (the one I use that is, yes we only have one) is like the supercarriers, except some of the elevators on the side, and sections of the runway open up to bring out the guns. I actually described how it works in a thread we where both in.

Basically it's a cross between, say, the USS Ronald Regan (carrier part) and either the USS Missouri, the IJN Yamato or a similar battleship. Actually the Ise-class looks like a good starting point for the concept.

Soodean: Looking at the Ise, I think it would be possible to save a lot of effort just by mounting a turret underneath a portion of the upper flight deck... it only has to fire to the sides, so a constantly-covered top wouldn't necessarily be a problem.

So that's it, our discussion so far.
