I guess I'll be the first to point out the obvious 3. "Go home and be a family man" - Guile (Street Fighter II) 8. "All your base are belong to us" - CATS (Zero Wing) |

i'm thinking the last one could maybe be "This guy are sick" from FF7. it might not be, though. just the first thing i thought of |

That's what I thought of immediately on reading it, so probably not a bad guess. 11 could be a ton of things, first thing I thought of was the SSBM announcer saying "wow, incredible" but a lot of generic success messages could go here |

Okay, actually these are hard and the only ones I knew were 2 and 8, which you guys already got. I may still think about it more later, but results are unlikely. I'm uncertain how I could google for these things. I mean maybe some sort of "reverse translation" program could help, but that might be far-fetched. I mean a program that runs a final sentence back through translators once or twice (in all the different ways) and reports the significantly different English results so that one might be more easily turned into a quote than what we see now. |

Cucumber has a lot of weird "synonyms" such as money-related things and choice/liberty. Maybe 9 is someone demanding that someone open (or do something else) and saying that's not a choice? Still not sure what the quote could actually be though. Maybe something like "I'm not at liberty to say.."? Edit: I found this: "well, I'm really not at liberty to say" on here http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Half-Life It's probably not correct, but you're free to use it if you come up with nothing else. "It's super effective!" for 11 makes sense, especially in the context of TES2 (specifically because of a certain previous challenge) the Starcraft quote for 5 also seems like more or less a sure thing. 12 I'm leaning more towards the FF7 quote, but the Oregon Trail is also a good guess. One of you should send each. Edited by Kefiroth, Dec 30 2014, 02:44 PM.

Cody, since it looks like you may be the only one to submit at this rate, I think it'd be better to list "A man chooses, a slave obeys" instead of "A man has a choice" for #4. I think "slave" is what got translated into "employee" on that one. |

For the ones that you have two listed, I'm going to say the ones I personally find more likely, just in case not all of Gemini is online to submit all the variations. 1. "I have covered wars, you know"- Dead Rising/ "War, war never changes"- Fallout The first one seems more likely because of the "I" in it and the single instance of a "war" word. 11. Wow, incredible!- SSBM/ "It's super effective!"- Pokemon The second one seems more likely because we know Mayo likes to include Pokemon in challenges. If there's not another Pokemon quote, this is for sure Pokemon. 12. "This guy are sick"- FF7/ "You have died of dysentery"- Oregon Trail The second one seems more likely because it's a far more famous quote. I can also see "You have died of" condensing very well in some other language to just a word or two, thus allowing it to then condense to a single word with relative ease. |

Most of our answers seem to be listed here: http://www.gamesradar.com/best-video-game-quotes-all-time/ But I can't find anything there that would seem to apply to #6. I'm thinking the word at the end of #4 is some kind of acronym, as that would explain the capitalization. While in English the acronym may not be a valid word, it might remain spelled that way when translated to another language, and then in that language it might be a valid word with a definition roughly the same as "rub". Yeah, that's listed there so is a good choice. At least it has a comma and the bad grammar could've messed up a translation. I'm not sure how the "if"s appear though. I also considered something along the lines of "Press X to die." or "Press X to not die.", since press and rub are kind of similar or maybe a single capital X can somehow change into a completely capital word in another language. But I'm not sure if those are actual video game quotes. |

I'll be sending this. cody, please confirm that for the ones where we doubt I have sent the version you didn't. 1. "War, war never changes"- Fallout 2. "The President has been kidnapped by ninjas. Are you a bad enough dude to rescue the president?" - Bad Dudes 3. "Go home and be a family man" - Street Fighter II 4. "A man has a choice"- Bioshock 5. "You must construct additional pylons"- Starcraft 6. "Hold X to pay respects" - Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare 7. "Do a barrel roll"- StarFox 64 8. "All your base are belong to us" - Zero Wing 9. "Well, I'm really not at liberty to say"- Half-Life 10. "A miserable little pile of secrets!" - Castlevania: Symphony of the Night 11. "It's super effective!"- Pokemon 12. "This guy are sick"- FF7 Edited by ArchangelBaruch, Dec 30 2014, 03:51 PM.

Baruch, you don't need to change everything. Since there's 4 players, we should decide the TWO options we want to vary. 2^2 = 4. There's seriously no way Mayo didn't include a Pokemon reference. Also, "wow" is less similar to "very" than "super" is. Edited by Dreamwalker, Dec 30 2014, 03:40 PM.

My recommendations (including the two I recommend varying). Actually, I'm not confident at all that my #9 is right, since that's just some random quote I found while searching potential stuff online, but if you have nothing else then I guess we're stuck with it. 1. "I have covered wars, you know"- Dead Rising {{{OR}}} "War, war never changes"- Fallout 2. "The President has been kidnapped by ninjas. Are you a bad enough dude to rescue the president?" (Bad Dudes) 3. "Go home and be a family man" - Guile (Street Fighter II) 4. "A man chooses, a slave obeys" - Bioshock 5. "You must construct additional pylons"- Starcraft 6. “X-Men, welcome to die!” (X-Men Arcade) 7. "Do a barrel roll"- StarFox 64 8. "All your base are belong to us" - CATS (Zero Wing) 9. "Well, I'm really not at liberty to say"- Half-Life 10. "A miserable little pile of secrets!" - Dracula (Castlevania: Symphony of the Night) 11. "It's super effective!"- Pokemon 12. "This guy are sick"- FF7 {{{OR}}} "You have died of dysentery"- Oregon Trail |

Sorry about the tie, Cody. I shouldn't have gotten you to change #12. On the other hand, if Kirby had been online, the variant I told him to send would've scored 8/12, so we could've avoided the tie that way. But the tie might not be bad. It buys you guys more time to think about whether to nominate 2 Taurus, 2 Scorpio, or a Taurus and a Scorpio. And which people in particular. |

Eh, I think it's better if one of us concedes (I volunteer, this victory has been cody's). No need to make mayo work hard for nothing. I think nominating two Taurus is a must. If we attack Scorpio right now, after lucky's monologue last time they'll join forces with Taurus. And we'll be in disadvantage. Edited by ArchangelBaruch, Dec 30 2014, 04:22 PM.

If they knew what was good for them, they'd have already done that. This time though, it seems like there was no co-operation going on between any non-Gemini, even within the other teams themselves. Personally, I'd recommend going after the most powerful Scorpio (Cocainius or Swift) |
