Oh, I didn't give an opinion on A yet. Well, if you're Amplefy then doesn't Apple control you? That seems bad. Also, Amplefy/Apple didn't do so well in TES2. His skills couldn't compete against a mega-alliance intent on annihilating him and everyone else. If there's an option to construct a mega-alliance to defeat Apple as just a standard casualty of war, I'd pick that. Maybe that's G? Would G be too insane to pick? My guess is that the best option is either G, D, or A. The worst options are B and C. *second guesses self* Well, if you threaten Toon then maybe Apple won't use his immunity ring on himself and so you COULD kill Apple that way. Apple would rather give the ring to Toon than use it himself. The only risk is that Toon will then kill you immediately thereafter. Also, I'm worried the "Toon" choice is too obvious here, given that a "Toon" choice just got you a bunch of points. Idk. |

Oh, so Chapter 5's text is basically the same no matter what you do.. and probably the options only depend on your opponent, not your Chapter 4 choice. "A" seems stupid because if Machete doesn't even know what it means he probably didn't invest much into writing it and isn't going to score it highly. For "B", I recognize the name Dustin Hoffman but beyond that have no idea. *looks him up* Oh, I guess raining on his parade refers to Rain Man. What Rain Man has to do with TPK, I have no idea. Oh, Dustin Hoffman also played a pirate in Hook, so maybe that's the relation. How do we know the rum is gone? You didn't pick the "offer rum" option last time. But I guess "C" sounds okay unless someone comes up with some logic for picking A or B. |

Baruch, C is highly risky. It could be the best or the worst option. Best because it can surely kill Apple. Worst because it can surely result in your death by Toon later.

c) TPK knows you're bluffing. His parrot already stole the treasure from you when you weren't looking. (-175 pts) Cody - C, -175, 1475, TPK CHAPTER 5 The fight goes on... back and forth. You and your opponent make several exchanges. At some points, you feel like you're about to win, but then he/she gets a second wind and turns it around on you. At times, you feel desperate and in the face of potential defeat, an adrenaline burst helps you to fight on. You're now exhausted and bloody, as is your opponent. It's time to finish this.. CHOICE 5B-C a) Channel John Malkovich and go INCEPTI0N on TPK, whatever that means... b) Channel Dustin Hoffman and rain on TPK's parade... c) Channel Johnny Depp and make sure TPK pays for the fact that the rum is gone... So, it's always the rum option, isn't it? |

Baruch - C, -400, 1750 c) F***ing idiot... Illuminatis show up at your door. Toon is recovered and you are shot in the genitals... (-400 pts) Ouch. I suppose that if auron hasn't had complete bad luck, he'll still have some damage control left so he's probably going to bet. I don't think I should. |

I love how Machete pretends that logic can get us to the best CYOA answers. Does he not realize the numerous interpretations we can make from these choices and the fact that there's no way to confidently conclude which interpretation is correct? Oh well. Hopefully we'll get lucky in the lotto and/or Scorpio will get unlucky. It seems like the winner will be heavily determined by those results. How should we handle them? Is there perhaps safety in numbers? Like if 3 people go all-in on something with 50% chance of winning then probably at least 1 of the 3 will win. |

If we can make sure that the randomizer results are the same for all players, this is a good idea. Also if this is actually the last round. Edited by ArchangelBaruch, Feb 11 2015, 11:59 PM.

Oh wait... we'd need to pick 3 independently randomized things with 50% probability for that to work. I think Machete's results are going to be the same winners for everyone. And Machete said this isn't the last round. Oh wait.. actually we can take advantage of the non-independence. In Choice 6-A, for example, either Nicky or Whats will win. Therefore if 1 person goes all-in on Nicky and 1 goes all-in on Whats, then one of those two will double their points and the other will lose all their points. This is just an example. Edit: I think the best thing is to completely decline 3 of the 4 choices (6-A through 6-D) and then split up the options for the other one among the three of you. Since 6-A can't be split among 3 people, you should pick one of the others to split. This will result for sure in one player having tons of points and the other two having zero. Gemini will then rely on that player being the one to win. If you want me to work out which choice (6-B, 6-C, or 6-D) you guys should split up and exactly how its options should be split between the 3 of you to maximize the expected value of the maximum of your 3 scores after the Round 6 results, please let me know how many points you each have right now ASAP and also whether or not you have any story items. I don't think any of you have any story items, but it's worth checking because those might be useful in future chapters. Also I suppose some of your choices (like being nice to a waitress or whatever) could be useful in future chapters, but I can't really factor those into my equations properly. Another Edit: Actually, it seems 6-C is the only one where the same person can bet on multiple fighters, so we should definitely split that one up given that 6-B and 6-D have more than 3 non-decline options and are thus impossible for the 3 of you to split up. So on 6-C somebody is going to need to split their points in 4 among choices a,b,c,d, someone is going to need to split their points in 3 among choices e,f,g, and the third person is going to need to split their points in 4 among h,i,j. I'm not sure if Element vs Retro class still has any meaning, so perhaps that should play into which person takes the 4 options instead of just 3 options. But if it doesn't have meaning, then the player the most points should take the 4-options, I think. And the other two should each take 3-options. Edited by Dreamwalker, Feb 12 2015, 12:31 AM.

Let's suppose People X, Y, and Z currently have x, y, and z points, respectively, with x < y < z. If X splits on a-d, Y splits on e-g, and Z splits on h-j, then one of them must win and so the person with the most points on the team will either have (10/4)x, (10/3)y, or (10/3)z points. And the other two will have 0 points. If Z splits on a-d, Y splits on e-g, and X splits on h-j, then one of them must win and so the person with the most points on the team will either have (10/3)x, (10/3)y, or (10/4)z points. And the other two will have 0 points. If we don't suspect Scorpio to be taking this strategy, then we gain the highest advantage by maximizing the minimum of those numbers (or potentially even splitting a different way if your numbers of points are vastly different from each other). Out of the two splits I listed, the second one has the higher minimum and so that's why I'm saying the person with the most points should be the one to do the 4-way split. Actually, if the 3 of you have x, y, and z points then it makes the most sense for Person X to select 10*x/(x+y+z) choices, Person Y to select 10*y/(x+y+z) choices, and Person Z to select 10*z/(x+y+z) choices. If these are not integers, then see which of the directions of rounding produces the higher minimum as seen before. Edit: Using the x < y < z convention, this strategy would result in the person with the most points on the team having x+y+z points (possible slight deviations due to rounding error), which is a guaranteed increase by a factor of (x+y+z)/z over the person with the most points on our team at the start of the chapter (since that person had z points). It's basically a way to guarantee a transformation of our 3 competitors into one major competitor with all 3 of their points (plus or minus some rounding error due to the 10*x/(x+y+z) type stuff). If only Gemini had a 4-3 advantage in this challenge instead of being even 3-3 against Scorpio, this would be a great way to near-guarantee a win. With the 3-3 split, it does not near-guarantee a win because Scorpio might also think to do it -- or they might make some huge gamble that just happens to pay off by luck even without them thinking to do it this way. But while it doesn't guarantee a win, I do fully advocate it as the way that yields Gemini its best possibility of a win. Of course, do not tell Scorpio about this strategy or even hint that such a split is something that can be done because it's in our best interest for them not to realize this. You have 1750 points. I need to know what Choco and Cody have (and if they have any items) to be able to give concise, clear, and complete instructions. We have until Friday at 9:00:07pm in some time zone according to the countdown timer, so that should be plenty of time to organize this. I imagine Choco will awaken soon, and.. well idk when Cody will get here, but I sent him a GameFAQs PM earlier. |

This challenge is so bad. I mean the story could be okay (although Machete's not making much effort into writing a cohesive story), but the gameplay has been terrible. Okay, so: Baruch - 1750 Choco - 1550 Cody - ??? (last reported score was 1475) If Cody's score didn't change much, then my guess would be Baruch should pick a-d, Choco should pick e-g, and Cody should pick h-j in 6-C. 6-A, 6-B, and 6-D should be declined (since all points would have been bet on 6-C). If Cody's score dramatically increased or dramatically decreased, we could alter this a bit. Otherwise, I think this is fine. Choco/Kirby can check my math if they want. (I doubt anyone else would want to check my math, but you're still welcome to criticize me if you want, and I technically have no power over what you ultimately decide to do.) |

Oh, good point, Choco. I should've read that. Anyway, yeah, I think the 4-3-3 split I described on 6-C is good. If someone has an objection, by all means raise it. Otherwise... Baruch: 6-A: (c) decline 6-B: (f) decline 6-C: (a) Link 438 pts, (b) Billy 438 pts, (c) Kefi 437 pts, (d) Rob 437 pts 6-D: (g) decline Choco: 6-A: (c) decline 6-B: (f) decline 6-C: (e) Dragon 517 pts, (f) FvP 517 pts, (g) Lucky 516 pts 6-D: (g) decline Cody: 6-A: (c) decline 6-B: (f) decline 6-C: (h) Popcorn 442 pts, (i) MD 442 pts, (j) Toon 441 pts 6-D: (g) decline The result of this should be that one person has somewhere from 4370 to 5170 points after this chapter and the other two of you have zero points. I think that's a pretty good outcome unless Scorpio gets stupidlucky or is using the same strategy and had significantly higher point totals prior to this chapter than Gemini. Edit: One minor concern with this plan is Machete said in the challenge rules that "certain especially bad decisions, especially later in the story may actual lead to death, like in most CYOA stories. If you are killed, you are eliminated from this competition regardless of how many points you have." I say it's only a minor concern because hopefully we can avoid doing something THAT stupid with the person who gets all the points. I have no idea if Retro class poses a greater risk of death than Element class or if those classes still have any meaning in terms of story options. My uneducated guess is that they don't, since he wouldn't make you fight more people after just participating in a 2 chapter fight and then betting on many of the other interesting people fighting. But yeah, we'd want to make sure the person who ends up with all the points doesn't make any choices that could under any Macheteable interpretation result in death in Chapters 7 onward. That seems like the best plan, since we only need one person to do well, and it will give them a boatload of points. Every other sensible betting option would have 2:1 odds, which pales in comparison to even a smaller 10:1 payout. |

Machete confirmed to me via PM that the classes (Retro, Element, etc) no longer matter. Oh, he also told me a few days ago that he hadn't finished writing it yet. Here is a paste of all the options this challenge. CHOICE 7A a) Mr. Bomb's homeland... Australia. b) Mayo's homeland... The southwestern USA. c) Kim Jong-Un's homeland... North Korea. d) The TV Show "Homeland" >_> e) Machete's homeland... some weird place he talks about that clearly only exists in his mind... CHOICE 7B a) Hide in the Crab People bathroom and wait for the Velociraptors to go away. b) Demand to speak the leader of the Velocirpators. c) Follow Machete's lead and light guns on fire and throw them at the Velociraptors. d) Put on the Robes of Warding so that you can sneak out without Velociraptors seeing you. e) Velociraptors. I said that just because I wanted to. All the other choices had it. CHOICE 7C a) Machete's other two machetes. (One is short but thick, the other is quite long. A solid offense and defense combination) b) Hodor. ("HODOR!" - Game of Thrones reference) c) A heavy tranquilizer gun. (You hope it's strong enough to take down a Velociraptor) d) An aspis, a Spartan Shield. (THIS. IS. SPARTA!) e) A bag of grenades. (Left over from the Psychopath Royale competition) f) A big, floppy rubber d**** (Who does it belong to? Mr. Bomb says Mayo. Mayo says Machete. Machete says Dream. Dream says Apple and Toon. They say Choco. Choco says Mr. Bomb...) CHOICE 7D a) "... I wanna hang out with my wang out!" b) "... I'm gonna squash that spider that's in my soul!" c) "... I'm totally going to NOT see the new Jurassic Park movie!" d) "... I'll buy you all a round of shots of LSD!" Machete seems to indicate that 7B has at least one kill scenario, probably 2 or 3 if you factor in bad weapons to pick that could result in your death, since the weapons in 7C are associated to the choices in 7B. We need a way to get Choco through this alive and hope this is the very last chapter and also hope Scorpio really did put at least a lot of points into betting on me. They would've lost anything they put on me, so even if they didn't bet all of it maybe they lost something. As for what to pick... well I was going to analyze it... still might... but how on Earth do I analyze it? I mean "Don't grab Machete's machetes" seems obvious. The dick seems to fit with the teamname, so maybe pick that? Or maybe Machete will be sensible and realize a sock-dick mace is not a very good weapon? I don't know. Edit: Other thoughts. Putting on the Robes of Warding sounds like a terrible idea. The velociraptor will probably end up forcing you to give them to him and then he'll eat you. I asked Machete about Homeland via PM (whether we're going to the US or Pakistan) and he said he'd answer publicly in the topic. I know Machete likes the show, fwiw. Edit: Okay, apparently the TV show Homeland option has nothing to do with knowledge about the TV show Homeland. That's good because he shouldn't require such knowledge but bad because it means the option is just meaningless. On the topic of flights, I'm thinking we might want to avoid Australia. Most of the planes that go missing or whatever are near Australia, right? I think Mayo's homeland might be the best, other than the fact that it's Phoenix and Phoenix sounds like a terrible place to live. Mayo seemed to be nicer to the velociraptors than Machete in the story, so maybe they won't bother us there. Plus it's got to be better than Kim Jong Un (right?) and you can't buy plane tickets to TV shows (especially while they aren't filming) and places that don't exist (like this fantastical Machete homeland). Plus I believe the fantastical Machete homeland is probably where you already are and/or probably already has a lot of the enemies attacking you. So yeah, I'd guess Mayo's homeland for that one. Idk if all 3 Geminis want to go with the option they mutually determine is best or if Cody and Baruch want to go with less likely ones on the off-chance that both Choco and all Scorpio die and then somehow they could win with around-0 points. Edit: On 7B, choice A is likely to result in a velociraptor coming in to use the bathroom and noticing you, so you'd want a good weapon to defend against that. On 7C, I just realized choice F isn't dick but ducky. I'm not sure how a rubber ducky would be useful. I don't understand Game of Thrones references, though Machete probably thinks somehow there's both logic we can apply to the choice and it isn't biased in any way towards people familiar with Game of Thrones. He's probably wrong, but he probably thinks that. Maybe following Machete's lead is the right thing to do.. but that kind of runs in contrast with seeking shelter in Mayo's homeland, so idk. Maybe it's fine because that shows us following both hosts. The Spartans put up a valiant defense (and it's worth noting that Machete PM'd me something about his immune system being not just as good as a million Spartans but as good as a million Leonidiases, so he's obviously been thinking about 300. But keep in mind the people of 300 all died in the movie. We don't want to put up a valiant defense just to die. Grenades killed pretty much everyone who used them in Psychopath Royale, so that seems like a terrible idea. Can someone else state their opinions so I have more than just my own mind to work with? Math is my thing, not interpreting Machete. Edit Yet Again: While throwing flaming guns at velociraptors wouldn't be as useful as just using those guns as weapons, perhaps the velociraptors would be distracted by the guns and try to pick them up. While they burn themselves holding onto the gun, they'd attempt to wield it in both hands and shoot it but they're velociraptors so they can't hold things well. In the midst of this, you could make your escape. I haven't said anything about 7D yet, but I don't think it's very consequential compared to the other choices. And I don't have any thoughts on it. At least not right now. Edited by Dreamwalker, Feb 14 2015, 09:49 PM.

Oh, dildo. Well, in my defense I got the general idea (dick) first but then realized that was the wrong number of characters. Still, could be a ducky or a dildo. Machete is leaving it ambiguous perhaps for a reason. (Though if dildo really is censored, then that could very well be the reason.) 7-Be sounds like Machete strongly wanted a 5th option (perhaps for some reason beyond my understanding) and so he just put that there because he didn't feel like thinking up a real 5th option. I don't quite understand how you have 5320 points... weren't your odds 10:1 and thus you should end up with 5170? Somehow an extra 150 points appeared. Did I not divide by 3 properly or something? *checks* Nope, 1550/3 is indeed 516.67 which means two 517s and one 516. I think Machete was using your score of 1700 in the previous round by accident, because he's great like that. |

All of that sounds safe to me except potentially the tranquilizer gun. (Note that I'm not saying the tranquilizer gun is UNsafe. I just don't know.) Oh, and I thought of an even stronger reason not to pick the Robes of Warding option (not that anyone was going to pick that anyway). This is the Final Seven, the week in which Shock was eliminated, so picking the Robes this week seems especially bad, and Machete surely put them in there with the knowledge of what week it is. It's also worth noting that there's no penalty for non-submission in Chapter 7 because the info doc says "From now on, all "failure to submit" penalties will be listed for individual chapters (in the info doc), to prevent this sort of situation from happening again." and yet no penalty is mentioned. |

Well, here's my thoughts. 7A: A or B seem like the only decent choices. My concern about B is that we're fighting a Mexican drug cartel, so I'm not sure if we should go to the southwestern USA. 7B: A, B, or C. I could see either one working under the right circumstances. 7C: C seems the safest. 7D: C or D. C may or may not anger the raptors, depending on Machete's opinion of Jurassic World. |

are you sure the lead velociraptor wouldn't just eat you? I mean I know Machete's story implied they could talk and everything, but I'm still worried he'd go back to basics like "don't try to reason with velociraptors" or something. |

Regardless, just make sure you submit something. Machete didn't mention any Chapter 7 penalties, but I assume he'll probably go with the "worst option" practice he mentioned earlier and that would result in death. Even though it's not very meaningful, Baruch and Cody should think up something to submit as well. Just not the Robes. That would be stupid. |

ok. ok ok ok. let me think about this shit.
Australia is known for deadly animals. I'm sure Machete hates the SW-US. Also, he might troll us about "fleeing the country" saying that we already are in the US. NK almost seems too obvious as a bad option...but I'm not gonna risk it. The TV show seems like a joke option that he's gonna reduce points for. Machete's homeland is probably like "hurr durr nobody can survive there" |

Hiding doesn't seem safe to me. "the leader of the Velocirpators" has a typo that I'm scared was made on purpose. Probably not safe. Doing what Machete does is stupid but probably smart. (what) LOL robes of warding And the last one is another joke option that doesn't even make sense. Not safe. |
