Daughter of the Blood is a book by Anne Bishop. In this book, characters can have magic. They are classified by gender, then power level/birthright. They also live in three different realms.

Here are the classifications:
Males

  • Landen: non-Blood of any race
  • Blood male: a general term for all males of the Blood;also refers to any Blood male who doesn't wear Jewels
  • Warlord: a Jeweled male equal in status to a witch
  • Prince: a Jeweled male equal in status to a Priestess or a Healer
  • Warlord Prince: a dangerous, extremely aggressive Jeweled male; in status, slightly lower than a Queen

Females

  • Landen: non-Blood of any race
  • Blood female: a general term for all females of the Blood; mostly refers to any Blood female who doen't wear Jewels
  • witch: a blood female who wears Jewels but isn't one of the other hierarchical levels; also refers to any Jeweled female
  • Healer: a witch who heals physical wounds and illnesses; equal in status to a Priestess and a Prince
  • Priestess: a witch who cares for altars, Sanctuaries, and Dark Altars; witnesses handfasts and marriages; performs offerings; equal in status to a Healer and a Prince
  • Black Widow: a witch who heals the mind; weaves the tangled webs of dreams and visions; is trained in illusions and poisons
  • Queen: a witch who rules the Blood; is considered to be a land's heart and the Blood's moral center; as such, she is the focal point of their society

Realms

  • Terreille: (Realm of Light) This world is magic, yes, but it is also full of evil. One queen wants to rule them all.
  • Kaeleer: (Shadow Realm) This world is magic, and much nicer than Terreille. It is full of the kindred, which are animals with human-like minds, as well as unicorns. It does, however, have some evil in it. Most of this is centered in the town of Little-Terreille.
  • Hell: (Dark Realm) This is the realm of the dead. Harpes, or witches who died violently at the hands of a man, still posses some power, but mainly only the inner circle does.

Jewels (strongest on the bottom)

  • White
  • Yellow
  • Tiger Eye
  • Rose
  • Summer-sky
  • Purple Dusk
  • Opal
  • Green
  • Sapphire
  • Red
  • Gray
  • Ebon-gray
  • Black

If your character is under 20 years old, I will PM you after a certain amount of time, signifying your character's Offering to the Darkness. This PM will contain your character's new jewel.

This is the skeleton we're going to use:

Character name: Marcus Bloorite
Age: 4753
Gender: Male
Rank: Warlord
Jewel: Not sure. Sapphire?
Realm: Terreille
Appearance: 6'4", White glossy eyes, a light blue tunic with a white glow, a staff made of redwood (Where he keeps his jewel? Not sure how the jewels come into play yet), cloth shoes and a large blue cloth hat, white hair, wrinkled face, surrounded by an aura of knowledge.
Weapon of choice: Magic, and his intellect.
History: Originally from Kaereel, he traversed the lands in search of something more appealing. In his travels, he found scrolls and books where there were ancient incantations, and through these he learned powerful spells that only a select few had access to. He first traveled to Hell, on a mission for the Queen, but found that it didn't really suit him. He had heard of Terreille only in stories, and knew that it wasn't safe. He wanted to challenge himself and his new found powers, so this is where he made his home. He lives alone in a forest surrounding Terreille, where he puts his survival skills to use fending off deranged creatures and finding sustenance. He has no job, and is a loner.
Other: None that I can think of.

Jewels are used as a place to focus you're magic. Often, jewels are set in a necklace for a female, and a ring for a male. I do have a question about you're skeleton. Is your character dead?

Also please refrain from double posting, thank you :)

I don't believe I double posted, and Marcus is alive. Why would he be dead?
Also, would it be alright if he stores his jewel on the tip of his staff?
If there is a problem reguarding whether my character is alive or not (for instance, because of his age) I can come up with a reason as to why he is still alive.

In the history, you say he is originally from Hell. To be there, he has to be dead, except under certain circumstances (ext. visiting, doing a favor for a queen or the High Lord, ect.).

Double posting is when you post directing under yourself. You first posted your question about the jewels, and then in a separate post you had your skellie.

And yes, your character can carry his jewel wherever he sees fit.

Oh I see. I didn't realize he had to be dead to be from hell (guess it should be common knowledge though).

I have just changed it. Is it more acceptable now?

That's a really good idea. You can have your character be from Terreille if you would like to use a different region, and he could just stay there. Maybe in a different part of the realm from his family, if you want to keep your character's movements somewhat consistant. Moving between the realms would be difficult, though. A Priestess must be at the Dark Temple to get passage across. Now that I see your edits, your character is approved. Good job! :)

How are we supposed to interact if the realms are so difficult to travel between? I apologize for the various questions, and appreciate your patience.

No, it's fine. I'll have my character's visit to Hell be short, then run into your character in Terreille. But it would be great if you could post your opening post for you character.
