This will be our first RPG on the site, and I'm excited to start it. In this RPG, the world, as we know it, has ended. WWIII has broken out, and everyone 18 years of age or older has been sent out to fight. They all died. The streets are bomb ridden, and there is little food. People are just trying to survive. And when I say people, I mean kids. Any character under the age of 10 will need an additional character with them (Because let's face it, a 5-year-old is not going to be able to defend himself from pretty much anything)

There are the rich kids, who think they can own everything. There are the bullies, who think they can just beat everyone. And then there are the kids in between, who are just trying to live. Will they exist simultaniously? Or will they all kill each other?

Jenny [Suburbs]
She looked up to the yell she'd heard from the house near her. There was a small looking girl, starved, and angrily glaring at her. Jenny pushed Julie behind her and made herself a large as possible, shielding the small child. "Sorry, Honey, but you're a horrible judge of character." Jenny's hand rested on her well conceiled knife. The girl by the door also had a knife, but she held it in her hand. That could be dangerous.

"Julie, if this gets bad, I need you to run and find somewhere to hide," Jenny whispered so the other girl couldn't hear. She didn't turn her face to look at her sister, but she knew Julie could hear her.

"But, but..." The small girl started.

"Julie, tell me you understand. I need you to run if this starts into a fight. Do you understand me?" Jenny growled.

There was a hesitation from Julie. Her voice sounded almost broken when she said "Okay." Jenny returned her attention to the girl by the door. She shouldn't have to worry about Julie anymore, at least if she was careful.

She stood there, riddled in thought. How could this girl be from anywhere else but Downtown?? She slowly, without taking her eyes off of the other girl, put her knife in her pocket. She didn't fully trust her, but perhaps she would listen to what she had to say.

"If you aren't from downtown, explain how you're still alive. You obviously aren't from Uptown and I thought everyone in the rents had been deployed or killed."

Jenny [Suburbs]
She eyed the girl as she put her knife away. Jenny didn't move her hand from her own knife, or step away from Julie, but rather focused on every move the girl made. She looked confused, sounded confused. The girl was right, it was obvious the two of them weren't from Uptown, and they could easily be mistaken for downtown kids. That might work to Jenny's advantage in the end, but for now she didn't need that Rep. She glanced at Julie behind her. She looked frightened. Jenny had scared her. "We're not old enough to be deployed. Obviously the news up here as as slow as it is in the Rents because there are a lot of kids left there. Most of them will die soon, though, so you don't have to worry about them invading your neighborhood" she told the girl. She could tell Julie was getting more and more frightened as the conversation continued. She needed to get her to safety while she could. "I'll tell you all you want to know if you'll house me and my sister for the night. We've been walking for quite some time and she needs sleep," she assured the girl, leaving the ball in her playing field. She could deny, and they could find another home for the night where they could collect food and get stronger, or stay the night where this girl could keep an eye on them. Her choice.

The last thing she wanted to do was let someone from Downtown into her only place of comfort... so she compromised; after all, she couldn't just let these girls walk around the neighborhood (she hated how she had said that with such acid in her voice) because there actually had been a couple people from Downtown here literally days ago and, had she not hidden in the attic, she could have risked her life.

"Very well, street rats. I have a proposition. You come inside and tell me why you are here, and i may decide to let you stay. Make a threat in any way, and you will have to deal with the streets."

Oh, how she hoped they would not be any trouble....

She squinted her eyes at the girl, distrusting. She didn't like being called a street rat, mostly because the girl was also calling Julie a street rat. She didn't deserve that. "What's your name?" Jenny asked, putting a hand in front of Julie as she moved to get inside. She wanted something to hold over the girl's head, something that would keep Julie safe from this girl that she didn't trust.

Celine (Suburbs)
Motioning for the girl and her sister to enter, she reluctantly replied.

"... Celine Walz, and you? No offense, (maybe), but you seem like the type to have a simple name.... Jane, perhaps?"

Looking at the pair now, from a much closer proximity, she noted the sorrow in their faces, at least, in the little girl's face. Had they lost someone? What the hell had happened to them?

She wrapped her arm around Julie's shoulders and brought her closer to the door, making sure she was between Julie and this Celine at all times. When she mentioned Jenny have a simple name, Jenny glared at her and chose to use her full name instead. "Jennifer, actually," she nearly growled. Simpleton her ass. Jenny brought her sister inside and set her down in a chair. "You have any water or food? Something for my sister?" she asked, keeping a close watch on the child. She looked terrified and tired, but Jenny couldn't tell which emotion was causing the most distress. She figured she'd get the physical out of the way first, then deal with the emotional after a good night's rest.

"Okay, Jennifer. There's a well in the back. Can't say the same about the food. Truth is, there hasn't been much food here since "the incident" and so we-- I..." she paused, remembering the pained look on her uncle's face when he got sent away. "I've had to scavenge for food and just before you came, I was about to catch a mouse. First I had seen in days." She turned away, and began walking to the back of the house, her stomach growling.

Jenny [Suburbs]
She glared at Celine's back as she walked away. She didn't like the way she emphasized things, but she could sympathize. She could tell Celine had lost someone, someone close. Jenny didn't really feel attached to anyone but Julie, but Julie had gone on for days when their parents had gone off to the war. Jenny probably wasn't doing her any favors by telling her they were still alive and that they were coming back. She softened her eyes and looked at Julie. "Alright, I'm going to get you some water. I want you to stay here, okay?" she told the child.

"Are Mom and Dad meeting us here?" she asked, her voice small but hopeful.

Jenny shook her head. "No, they told us to stay here for the night. We won't be able to see them until tomorrow."

"Why?" she asked, broken and whining. "Why don't we get to see them tonight? I want Mom back!" She started crying.

Jenny picked her up and put her in her arms. "I know, sweetheart. I know. But it's not safe yet. Tomorrow, we'll go see them."

"Why?" Julie asked, her voice growing quieter as she rested her head on Jenny's shoulder. "Why?" Julie had worked herself into a state of exhaustion, and fell asleep in Jenny's arms. She took the child to a couch and laid her down. Even in her sleep, she gasped, distraught over things she could not fix.

"I know, baby. I know," Jenny said as she cupped the child's face with one hand. She didn't deserve this. Julie never deserved this. And Jenny would fix it, one way or another. She got up to get Julie a glass of water.

((okay, I'm done now))

She looked up at the sound of a little girl's cry, then returned to what she was doing when it suddenly stopped. She was reading her uncle's old copy of The Call of the Wild and couldn't help feeling like she was the wolf pack that had accepted a couple of dogs into her home. Since they supposedly weren't from Downtown, she felt slightly bad about treating them so horribly because, honestly, they could have gone through anything.

She heard water sloshing around in the yard. So Jennifer had found the well... she thought. Which was sort of a miracle in itself because she had done her best to conceal it from any wandering thieves that might be lurking through.

Just then, she heard a faint howling in the distance. A coyote! She ran to the living room (if you could still call it that) to find the little girl lying on the couch. She sped towards the back door and yelled for Jennifer to come inside.
