Daughter of the Blood is a book by Anne Bishop. In this book, characters can have magic. They are classified by gender, then power level/birthright. They also live in three different realms. Terreille, Kaeleer, and Hell all exist simultaniously, with only a few Dark Alters that connect them. Warlords, Healers, Princes and Queens all try to keep the world in one piece, while they all crumple to pieces under corrupt queens and evil powers. Invasions cripple them all. Now, how will they all survive? |

Cassie [Kaeleer - Black Widow] It was a good morning, with such a beautiful air to everything. The kindred ran happily through the forest, keeping the peace there. Cassie herself stood on the porch, readying for a trip across the realms. She needed to collect some herbs that were hard to find in Kaeleer, but more readily available in Terreille and the Dark Realm. But she wanted to say goodbye to her friends first, before she left for the week. She didn't want to leave her queen either, in any kind of need, but she had to in order to get the things she needed. The grass was so much greener and softer here than anywhere else, and she hated leaving. But she knew she always got to come back, and experience this world again with fresh eyes. Amazing. |

Marcus [Terreille - Warlord] Terreille was in turmoil. It took every bit of strength Marcus had just to survive in the woods surrounding Terreille. Darkness was lurking behind every tree, under every leaf, and within every shadow. It was astounding the danger Marcus had seen already. Even with his magic, Marcus wasn't sure whether he could maintain survival out in the wilderness surrounding Terreille. In his short time here, he had managed to construct a small shelter up in some trees. From his vantage point, he had seen three Orcs, a Werewolf, twelve rabid boars, and four fallen merchants. Three of the merchants had become prey for the various creatures lurking about. Marcus quickly came to the decision that he no longer wished to test himself in this environment, and decided to head closer towards civilization. |

Cassie [Portals] She'd made her trip to Hell with no trouble, and collected the herbs she needed. She had a quick run in with a Harpy who was rather angry, but weren't they always. She then made her way to a Dark Alter and found a Priestess. It was easy enough to gain passage, but then again it wasn't usually. As she made her way to Terreille, she heard something just outside the gate. "Hello?" she called as she stepped away from the Alter to the Dark Realm. It closed quickly behind her as she looked for whoever was hiding out there. "Hello?" she asked again. |

Marcus [Outskirts of Terreille - Warlord] Over the course of a couple of days, Marcus had come a fair distance. He had managed to get himself lost in these woods, but stumbled across an old beaten path which he decided to follow. He figured that the only place any path will ever take somebody is civilisation. He was nearing a place that could only be Terreille. The only marker he had that told him this was Terreille, was a slight red hue in the sky which results from an abundance of evil collecting in one area. He also started to see small shacks with rounded roofs, the traditional marker of a village. Currently Marcus is passing what appears to be an old, beat up building with a Priestess inside. He knew this to be the portal linking Terreille with Kaeleer and the Dark Realm. He had no intention of entering this place, until he noticed what appeared to be the Queen of Terreille entering this place. He called out to her, wondering where it was she was going when she had a kingdom to rule. "Excuse me my queen!" He gave a deep bow, maintaining eye contact. "But I was just noticing you were entering the portal to Kaeleer and the Dark Realm, could it be that you are temporarily leaving us?" "No. I have no intention of leaving this place. In my absence, I could very well lose my throne. I have heard that we are to be expecting a visitor to our kingdom, a black widow from Kaeleer. I've been informed she is in need of some herbs." "Ah, I see. Would it be possible for me to accompany you, and welcome this black widow to our lands?" "No. I do not know who you are, and this should be a private meeting. Go to the castle, see if there's something you can do there." "I will head there immediately." And with that, Marcus noted the Queen entering the portal area. He swiftly made his way to the castle. Cassie [Terreille - Black Widow] "Excuse me?" she asked as she moved out of the portal area and into the rest of the temple. She saw a man running off, as well as a woman. "Sir?" she asked, as she moved away, closer to them. "Miss?" she continued. The woman, a queen by the looks of her, extended a hand. "I am the queen of this area, and I am delighted to meet you," the queen told her as Cassie took her hand in greeting. She seemed nice enough, but one could never be sure of the queens here in Terreille. She'd heard stories about them, about how cruel they can be. "It's good to meet you, Ma'am. And is this man your accompaniment?" she asked, gesturing to the man she could still see, but only barely. |

Marcus [Terreille - Warlord] Marcus distinctly heard a young girl call out to him, but knew that the queen demanded a private discussion with this new comer. He knew that nobody should defy the queen, for most people who had the nerve to do such a thing were executed, or imprisoned. He had no desire to fall victim to either of these, so he continued his path down the chamber towards the main entrance, where a bulletin board, with issues in the area on it, was located. Marcus quickly skimmed over the various tasks posted on the bulletin board, disregarding most of them as unnecessary, until his eyes came across one posted by the queen. It was behind a few fliers, but had at the top, "Urgent" in big red letters. He quickly read over the discription, and realized it was asking for someone to aid a newcomer in Terreille with gathering herbs. Marcus had very little experience in locating herbs, but decided this would be the perfect chance to meet this Cassie of which the notice mentioned. He started back down the chamber he had just come from, hoping that the queen had had enough time to finish her desired private discussion. |

Cassie [Terreille - Black Widow] "How was your trip?" asked the queen, disreguarding the question of the man. She seemed very official in her tone, a tone Cassie had heard may times before. Her own queen used this tone when dealing with newcomers to Kaeleer in her lands, often with Cassie by her side. "It's gone along fine so far," she told the queen. "I've actually uncovered quite a few herbs I didn't know about in the past. I'm sure my queen will be delighted to uncover the mysteries be these," she told her. "Have you ever seen them?" she asked, holding her collection out to the woman. "Oh, no. I don't deal with the herbs anymore," the queen told her. "But down at the palace there is sure to be someone who can help," she told Cassie as she gestured down the path the man had left by. "Okay," Cassie said as she began to walk through the dark down the beaten path, unsure of everything here. Because while it looked so much like home, everything was far different. |

Marcus [Terreille - Warlord] Marcus swiftly made his way back through the chamber and down the path to the Dark Altar. He was in search of the girl listed on the notice. He figured he would have no trouble spotting her; the citizens of Terreille gave off an aura that made others not want to confront them for any reason. He figured that this girl he was looking to aid would be lacking this aura. Shortly after starting on the beaten path, he came across the queen. She seemed in a hurry to do something. Marcus again gave a deep bow and kept eye contact, saying "Good afternoon, my queen. I presume you have finished with your conversation, seeing as the girl is no longer with you?" The queen scoffed at him. "What's it to you? Why do you care about that black widow?" "Well you see, I checked the bulletin board in the main lobby of the palace and found a notice asking for someone to aid her in locating her herbs. I decided to take on this duty, so I am now in search of her." Marcus could see the queens mind was elsewhere. She clearly didn't care about his explanation. "Is something bothering you, my queen?" "The girl you seek is down the path. She couldn't have gotten very far. Don't worry about what I'm doing, I am the queen after all. This is my kingdom, and I shall see to it that this is how it will stay." And with that she left, entering the palace. Marcus continued down the path, and halfway between the castle and the Dark Altar he noticed a young girl walking slowly along. He yelled out to her, getting the feeling that this was the person he was supposed to help. "Hello? You there, would you happen to be Cassie, the black widow from Kaeleer in search of some herbs?" |

Lucas [Hell/potals/terreille - Prince] Lucas had just finished off a witch with his bow he had become mighty handy with it, over the years, he had been in this place before he saw a girl pick some herbs here not too long ago and she had some trouble with a harpy. *He grinned* as he thought "she must have not know that he actually was the one who wounded that harpy when she fought it" He then decided to follow the path cautiously moving with each step as though he was a Cheetah stalking a gazelle he then noticed the portal and went though. He instantly noticed he wasn't home but it was better than where he was. He watch a girl and another boy go down the hallway following a robust lady that he never really wanted to trust but that really didn't mean much to him. He decided to follow the girl then left and the boy went after her. He felt like he trusted the girl like his mother who he long for. He over heard her name was Cassie and that the boy's name was Marcus... Lucas mustered up what human decency he had left and altered his stance and when the boy met with the girl and asked her name he turned the corner and pled "excuse me but may i bother you for food and shelter i will gladly pay you back with my services" *kneels and grasping the bow put it in front of him* Edited by Shocktart, Mar 29 2012, 10:17 PM.
