Taeil had never thought something like this would ever happen. A meteor crashing into the earth? Sure, instant death. Wouldn't have been so bad. Nuclear war? Again, probably instant death--especially if they were hit first, right? A massive disease that killed off a large portion of the country..yeah, he could see that, but for those said dead to reanimate and come back to kill more people was definitely not okay with him. At all. Because here he was, sitting atop a roof at sunset after scrambling out of a bedroom window when he'd opened a close to a zombie kid trying to get him. He'd practically thrown himself out the window to just end it right there, but at the last second he'd caught himself and climbed up onto the roof...only to see his zombie attacker tumble from the window, plop head-first onto the concrete below, and pretty much just..pop. Pop was a good word for it. Not as gorey as explode or crunch or splatter or...yeah, just stick with pop. Either way it was disgusting, and he had no idea how he'd managed to get up onto the roof...or how to get down. He'd ditched his bag in the bedroom he'd run out of, and now he was afraid to go back in after it with the sun going down, and he had already been hungry to begin with. So, Taeil had found himself crawling over towards one of the large trees that was parallel to the roof, reaching out to tug at some of the flimsy branches. No fucking way was he going to be able to get over to the trunk and climb down. He couldn't see any sturdy branches..but then again he couldn't see much of anything. Ugh. Turning slowly, he leaned over the edge of the roof to try and get a peek as to how far down it was, before starting to climb up towards the top. When the tiles slid out from beneath his feet he gave a rather loud mixture of a yelp and a curse, clutching onto whatever he could to keep from falling. The tiny man had managed to keep himself from tumbling to the ground like the zombie, but he'd yelled, dropped loud tiles against concrete, and had scraped up the roof enough to expose the stables and nails underneath..and the sun was almost down. So. This was cool. Propping his feet into the gutter, he laid splayed over the small area he found himself in, unmoving, and hoping that hadn't attracted anything. This...sucked. Really, really bad. |

It probably wasn't normal to be so. . Calm during a time like this. No, definitely not, especially when you've been separated from all of your friends and families. But would panicking fix it, and bring them back? No. He'd had his fair share of meltdowns at first, there'd be something seriously wrong with him if he hadn't. But after a week or two, in order to survive, PO had to force himself to come to terms with that epidemic. Otherwise, he'd either be one of them, or their dinner, and looking at the way they lived--no pun intended--neither option was more appealing than the other. It was a little sick, but at some point, the young man had equated it to being a lot like a video game. Kill to survive, and the more you kill, the more you learn and improve your "skills." Sick, yes, but it made it a lot easier to cope, too. Instead of viewing them as people, they were a game, and psychologically? It had to be a lot healthier than thinking you've murdered so many people in a day. The thought alone made him swallow and tighten his grip on knife he was holding. Most inconvenient weapon ever for zombie-killing, but he'd lost his golf club in the last fray between two monster that had taken him off guard during an admittedly careless nap. Taking in a breath, and pushing the glasses up on his face with his index finger, Jihoon jumped when he heard what sounded like a scuffle. Zombies? Or. . Wait, was that a person on the roof? His eyes caught sight of something else--blood on the concrete just below. So either that was a person up there, or a dead body. But he couldn't walk away, that would be heartless, in case that was, in fact, another survivor. "Hey!" He called out as soon as he'd worked up the courage to walk over, staring up at the figure on the roof expectantly, glancing down every few seconds to make sure he wasn't standing in dead-zombie brain-goo. "Are you--um--alive up there?" |

Taeil definitely wasn't calm, but he was too horrified to call out or try to scramble back up the roof. Especially now with exposed nails...so, when he heard footsteps, which he assumed to be another infected, he'd slowly began to inch back towards the window. Getting a hold of the windowsill at the very least would be better than dangling from a roof gutter that couldn't hold his weight well. However, he froze when the steps got close enough that he could hear the scuffle of the bottoms of the shoes and the tiles he'd knocked down. Maybe if he played dead it'd go away--But instead, he heard a voice. Oh god another survivor. Looking down at the stranger a bit too quickly, he felt like he could cry again. To be so trusting in a time like this was a horrible idea, but..."Yes," he murmured, trying to steady his footing, "Yes--I'm alive," he repeated, though he figured the man knew he was alive since he spoke. He'd almost thought to return the question, not to be a smartass, but just something to keep the other from leaving. He hadn't seen a living person in...a while now, holy hell. "D-dont get too close," the tiles were already loose. It'd be his luck to end up kicking one at the poor man and hurting him or chasing him away. Carefully, he moved his feet in an attempt to climb back up the roof, though didn't get too far. He got just far enough to slide down so the steadier top of the window he'd climbed out of. Ugh. Maybe he could make it down. "Are there others down there..?" Zombies, people, anything, he just needed to get down and get to the other living, breathing, not flesh-eating[hopefully] human being. |

PO couldn't help the small smile that crept onto his face at the sound for the same reasons that Taeil wanted to cry--it was comforting to hear a voice that was alive. Naturally alive, not alive because of some hellish disease. "Good," he murmured softly before piping up loud enough to hear, "Other than me? No one." Not that he could see, but he'd been wrong before. "You aren't um. . No one bit you, did they?" He asked cautiously, wanting to offer to help, but, as eager as he was to get up there, or help the stranger down to where he was, he wasn't so careless as to help down an infected other. He squinted, holding a hand up to shield his eyes enough to try and see the roof-bound man a little more clearly. "If you're not bitten, I'll help you." It was blunt, and it was a scary realization to think he'd only be willing to help a person who wasn't tainted. As human beings, it should have been an obligation to help out any one that they could, infected or not, so long as they were still "human." But that was a situation that one would only find in a perfect world, and the state their current world was in was anything but perfect. As a matter of survival, that's how it had to be. "I'll come up to get you, if you need me to." As long as he was alive, and uninfected--and maybe it could be attributed to his age that he was so desperate--he'd be willing to confront anything just to get near someone who had a pulse. |

"No, I'm not bitten," he replied quickly, half expecting the question, but it still kind of stung to know that if he had been bitten someone wouldn't help him. They'd let him die. But then again, he'd do the same. And if he was bitten, he probably would have just jumped. Was that sad? He was kind of pathetic, wasn't he? Taeil was surprised at himself, really. Surprised that he was alive and still surviving. Lost weight and some sanity were a small price to pay compared to dying, being eaten and becoming one of the zombies. Letting out another quiet breath as he unsteadily shifted his feet on the top of the windowsill, he wanted to just..hop down onto the lengthier ledge that he knew was there below it...but he was almost afraid to. It'd be his luck to take a tumble after another person had found him. "Can you help..?" He didn't know how, and he felt kind of pathetic asking for help, but...he didn't know what else to do. "T..that was the only zombie inside, just dont open any closets.." It was almost comical, really. And as much as he wanted to worry about the man stealing his supplies and making a run for it, for now he'd rely on the fact that some humans still weren't evil and this man might help him. |

Should he trust him? He said he wasn't bitten, and it was clear that PO would by no means help him otherwise, so why take his word? It was simple. Someone's word was all anyone could rely on at this point, wasn't it? So the younger man nodded, slipping the knife into his pocket, and gave the smaller man a thumbs up to let him know that he was on his way. Walking through the house was uncomfortable, to say the least. For one, he didn't know the layout so it proved to be a little awkward going from one room to another looking for the appropriate stairs and doors to take. Secondly, even though Taeil had assured him the only zombie that had been inside was dead, going into new territory was scary every time. With each turn, he had to take a new breath, as he was holding it otherwise. Finally, he made it to the room with the open window, and shuffled over so that he could peek out of it, cautiously. If tiles were loose, he didn't want to take one to the face. "Still there?" Well, duh, bit he didn't want to startle him by screaming something like "hey!" Sticking his arms out the window, he twisted around to brace himself against the sill, eyes scrunching up a bit. "I'll help you through, be careful," so they neither of them fell, that'd put a bit of a downer on the day. |

Oh thank god, this man had mercy on him. He wasn't bitten--he was too careful for that, normally. And he'd rather die than become one of them. Looking down when he heard the man shuffle around in the bedroom below him, he took in a slow breath and peeked down at him when he looked out the window. Sniffling, he tried to shift a little, but froze and clung to the roof again. Taeil liked to think he was short for a reason. He didn't like heights. They made him nervous and kind of made him want to cry. Thankfully, he'd held back the tears, barely, and with this new man holding his arms out the window for him he was...kind of comforted. Trying to calm his trembling, he slowly began to lower himself down, crouching on the top of the windowsill and gripping at the gutter...since that was the only thing he could really get a hold of. As he lowered one of his legs down to try and get to the windowsill, he also lowered a hand down to take hold of the man's wrist, hands quivering ever as he grabbed for the man like a lifeline. Poor man. He'd probably want to leave as soon as he got Taeil down--but already he just wanted to stick with him. Dear god he didn't want to be alone anymore. |

Once he had a hold of Taeil's hand, PO leaned his shoulder onto the wall just for that much more support. The man was kind of small, so it's not like his weight would be too much to handle, not even in the slightest, but it probably wasn't best to assume and get careless. Wouldn't bode well on the conscience if he were to drop the only survivor he'd seen for so long. Lifting his other arm until Taeil was low enough for him to hook his arm around his upper torso, he did his best to pull him through safely into the house with what he hoped was minimum jostling and bumping. But hey, he did his best and that's what counted. "Are you okay?" He asked, taking a step back, just to make sure the shorter man was on his feet okay, and, admittedly, just to double check that he in fact was not bitten. Though he'd taken his word and helped him down, if the bugger had lied to him (and if he had, it's not like he'd blame him) then there was no way he was sticking around. Looked like he was true to his word, though, and PO settled for straightening his clothes and brushing off any chipped paint that had gotten onto his clothes from putting his weight on the window. Kind of pointless considering tidiness was the least important thing when zombies were after you. "How long were you up there, anyway?" Not that it mattered, but it wasn't as if Jihoon was any more eager to ditch Taeil than Taeil was for him to leave. |

Taeil was pretty tiny. Didn't weigh too much either, especially with the lack of food and everything lately. Sniffing a bit, he curled his legs up to get into the window as the man's arm wrapped around his torso...and he was on his feet. Thank god. Once he'd steadied himself, and it seems that Jihoon had done the same, he straightened up a little and gripped the edge of the window so he didn't end up toppling backwards or something. Again, his luck. He checked himself for any wounds...especially on his arms and hands, before looking up to kind of note that the other man had done the same. Oh well, couldn't blame him. "A little while," he murmured, brushing off his hands so he could scrub at his eyes with his knuckles. Ugh he was exhausted, and the adrenaline was wearing off so he was kind of sore now. Despite his better judgement he slowly moved to sit down beneath the windowsill, mostly just because he had almost been eaten by a zombie, nearly fell off the roof...twice, and he was just so excited to see another live human being he didn't 100% know how to show how excited he was. So. he sat on his rear and tried to calm his heart and slight trembling. "The zombie chased me out the window--then fell," that was obvious enough he supposed. He was just happy he hadn't gotten bitten...and that he hadn't fallen, to be quite honest. Knowing his luck he would have survived the fall then would have been eaten because he was crippled or something along those lines. He paused after a moment though, looking up to the man as he chewed on his thumb absently, using this to try and calm himself down, "Where'd you come from?" he wasn't familiar--and he hadn't seen anyone in days. maybe he'd been hiding out? Who knew. Sigh. |

PO seemed to keep an extra eye on him, even after it was confirmed that he hadn't been bitten. He didn't want him to pass out or topple, or something, not the he had reason to believe that he would, other than that being chased by a zombie was pretty traumatic. What could he say? He just had a heart. Before answering him, and after he seemed to be seated safely, PO looked over his shoulder before responding, "Hold that thought." He walked over, firstly, to shut the bedroom door and lock it, only so that if they were going to talk, they didn't have to worry about any open doors. The open window was fine, considering they weren't on the first floor but the open door was just too nerve-wracking to say the least. Walking back over, he plopped down on the floor in front of Taeil and pulled his knees up to his chest. "I guess that depends on what you're asking. I'm from the suburbs, but I was in school when all this started." He faltered a little, as the memory was pretty terrifying. He hadn't seen a classmate since. "So now I'm just looking for places to stay. And you're from. . Here? Or is this someone else's house? Oh, and what's your name? I'm Jihoon." So many questions to ask, and what seemed like so little time. Was he fishing for excuses to stay? Probably, but it didn't seem like Taeil would mind. He'd better not, he'd just saved him. |

He....was in school? This guy was that young? he looked and sounded older...did he mean college? Maybe. He'd have to ask. Geez. Watching the man go lock the door then come back over to sit with him, he curled his legs up towards his chest and held tightly to them while he continued to chew on his thumb. His trembling had died down and he felt...safer, even if he was in a room with a complete stranger. He didn't care. It was another person and he'd helped him, that won him over instantly. Nodding slightly after a moment, he looked over towards where his bag was and moved to reach out to it, dragging it over to sit between the two of them. He had food and water in here, so..Pulling out a bottle of water, he paused and offered it over to him. He needed to eat something or he'd probably pass out ugh. "This isn't my house," he murmured, letting out a calming breath before taking out a second bottle of water to open. They'd had quite a bit here...he'd wondered if the family had left it here for the child-turned-zombie. That was a haunting thought. "I came from not too far away though, near one of the big apartment complexes...it was safer out here and seemed like there were more supplies," so he'd stuck around. Guess that had paid off. "I'm Taeil," another pause and he looked up to him after taking a sip of water, "You were in school..? Like, college?" So this kid didn't even know where his family was or anything..? |

Jihoon reached out to take the water, thanking him sincerely. Helping people paid off, and PO was sure there'd never been a time water had looked so appetizing such as this. He undid the bottle cap, to drink it, nodding as Taeil told his story. It was hard to to laugh at the "safer" comment, but the younger man managed. That word had lost definition a long time ago, it sounded strange to hear it out loud. What was "safe" anymore? The zombie on the ground just outside backed him up pretty solidly on that one, he figured, but refrained from saying so. "No," he said when questioned about school. It didn't surprise him, it wasn't the first time someone had seemed unsure about his age. "Not yet. Next year I wi-- . . Would have been." It didn't look like he'd ever get to go now, which made his heart sink a little. Not because he wasn't going to school, but because he couldn't go to school. It virtually didn't exist anymore. Who knew if things would ever get back to order for something like a university to run? What a depressing thought. "Guess that means you're a hyung," he laughed lightly, setting the water bottle down on the floor in front of himself. "Are you gonna stay here?" |

Poor kid. He watched him quietly and took another sip of his water before capping it and setting it down beside himself. He took in a slow breath and brought his fingers up through his hair, ruffling it before digging down into his bag. Crackers...crackers. Some canned stuff so he had no idea how he'd get that open. half a jar of peanut butter--that had been a fantastic find in his mind. Yum. Anything was better than nothing to be honest, and as much as he had loathed the idea of eating leftover food from people's garbage and shit, it had been good. He pulled out a package of crackers and opened them, just wanting something in his stomach to help calm him..and he figured the man would probably want some. now he kind of felt responsible for the kid...he was a decent amount younger than him if he'd been in his final year of highschool. Sigh he felt old. And the kid was quite large compared to him, too. "Want some?" He offered the package out to him before setting it on the floor between them, slowly shaking his head, "I hadn't planned on it. I dont trust houses," for the exact reason he'd ended up on the roof, actually. "But I tried the water downstairs and it worked..so..maybe this house has a well or something underneath it.." So..a shower would be nice. Maybe they'd lucked out and found a chunk of neighborhood that still had a water company working, or their own water supply. Sounded nice. |

Pyo nodded, reaching over to take a cracker and bring it to his mouth to chew on it thoughtfully. It made sense for Taeil not to want to stay in a house. After the experience he'd just had, who could blame him? But part of him had been hoping to hear the opposite answer. Other than apartments, which were by far more dangerous, these were the first houses he'd come across since running from his school. Real houses, not ones that had gates too thick to push open and too high to climb, as the more wealthy people owned. Had they survived? Most of them seemed to have deserted, and yet, still locked their precious houses up. The thought made PO pull his knees up to his chest, wrapping his free arm, the one without the cracker, around his legs. "I didn't want to leave," he mumbled, glancing around. There weren't any more zombies in the house, as Taeil had already pointed out, and it certainly felt safe. It was a deceiving feeling, but when a person felt safe, it was hard to convince them otherwise. "If you're not staying, where are you going to go?" |

To be honest, Taeil kind of didn't want to leave the house now, either..but he somehow didn't trust it. Nibbling on a cracker, he looked up to him when he spoke, his expression softening before looking back down to the pack of crackers. He'd only had a bit of a chance to look around...there might be more food here, and he had some food...plus the water was working. Maybe the stove was working, or they had gas somewhere to start a fire? heating up some water for a bath or something would be nice...even if it was a waste of water. Even boiling water for food or something sounded nice, though. "I dont know where I'd go," he answered honestly, looking up to the window when he heard a bird flutter past the window. Well, at least they could escape..but out of pure paranoia he stood, wobbling a bit now that the adrenaline had worn off, and closed the window. A flying zombie bird wouldn't be cool. "We..can stay here for the night," he apparently was assuming they were going to stay together, "But we should...check every room. And barricade the downstairs doors and windows," zombie and human alike could be dangerous. He should think that with Jihoon, but..he didn't get a bad vibe from him. And surprisingly, because he was so young and he'd saved his life..he kind of wanted to return the favor and try to take care of him. Even if physical protection was pretty much impossible, he could make sure he was fed and cared for, right? Right. "And I guess if it's safe and there's food we could stay a while," safety was a deceiving feeling. Hopefully this wasn't a trap. |

To say that Pyo's eyes lit up when Taeil suggested that they might be able to stay was an understatement. Truthfully, he was ecstatic. It had been far too long since he'd slept in a real home. If there was a bed there, even better. He was on his feet in seconds, only a slight delay because he stopped to shove a cracker into his mouth. "Okay," he agreed, stretching his arms above his head. "Did you see anything, err. . " He decided to choose his words carefully, because it would be a little disturbing to seem to eager to beat zombies--and he wasn't, but he was eager to secure the home. "Anything that can be swung easily?" Like a bat, or a golf club, or one of those sticks for fireplaces. Anything worked as long as it couldn't break easily. "Once it's safe, we can declare this our fort." Had to appreciate the little things. |

Smiling as the man brightened up so much, he hid it by nibbling on a cracker. This kid already made it easier to deal with the fact that all of his friends and family were dead, and that he'd almost been eaten by a child zombie not too long ago. He was..cute. And seemed naive, still. Or maybe it was Taeil that was naive. At the question, however, he looked up to him before looking over to the closet. The child must have tried to defend itself before it got bitten, "There's a bat in there," he murmured, closing up the crackers..but not before taking out another and offering it over to the teenager, "And there's a few locks on the back door..I think I know where the keys are. We can lock down the front door, too," and there was a shed outback..so they had something to dig through to seal up the windows. "Before I got chased..I checked the master bedroom. it's all cleaned up, it looks like they had planned on leaving for a trip or something.." They didn't get far, though. But that was good for them, "So there's a big bed, and some clothes and stuff," plus the working water, though he wasn't sure how long that'd last, but they could at least heat it up and get a bath or something in. That'd be amazing. "The pantry has more food in it, too..I just couldn't carry it." Dont judge. His bag was heavy enough. But he didn't want to be hauling around a huge weight and end up hurting himself. |

Jihoon wasn't sure which excited him more--food, or a place to sleep. Both, he decided, were equally as good. On top of having the means to secure the house, there was even a shed? Karma was obviously on their side, and very few things could make this day better. The taller man held out both hands to Taeil, wiggling his fingers to encourage him to stand. "Let's go together." It was safer, and even though Taeil was obviously older and they'd only just met, Pyo was already worrying about letting him wander on his own. What? The man was tiny and he'd already gotten himself chased onto a roof. "We can lock the doors first and make sure the windows can't be broken into," it was important to have a plan, so why not formulate it before anything else? "Then we can cook something." A hot meal was something to die for--no pun intended. "Think there are any survivors in the other homes?" He thought to ask, while going to retrieve the bat--carefully, on the off chance their was a zombie inside. Luckily there was not, but it was better to be on the safe side. |

Taeil looked up to him curiously and reached up to take the offered hands, getting himself to his feet with..a decent amount of help from Pyo. He was still a little wobbly, but he'd be fine. Letting the man's hands go as he grabbed up the bat, Taeil followed close behind..he didn't particularly want to get separated from the man either, so. Pyo was now his protector. Though he should probably get a weapon. "I can cook a little," kind of, "I'll have to look in their pantry.." Well. Their own pantry now. He stuck close, resisting the urge to hold onto the man's shirt as he followed him down to check the windows and whatnot. It was kind of dark..hopefully they had candles somewhere around here, or they'd need to get upstairs and into where they were sleeping by the time the sun went down, which wasn't very convenient. Looking up at the question though, he blinked...before shrugging. Optimism, Taeil. Optimism. "I'd bet so," kind of..."This area doesn't seem like it got hit much..just people coming in from the city after work or something." But there were zombies, obviously. "I just hope they're friendly..Or just leave us alone," not everyone in this new world was nice. |

"They probably are," Pyo shrugged. If they weren't friendly, wouldn't all these homes have been raided by now? It had taken long enough since the infection had broken out. Maybe PO was just too hopeful and Taeil was realistic, but it certainly seemed like a logical conclusion. Everyone was probably, if not friendly, too busy keeping care of their own homes and hideouts to worry about any others anyway. "I can help cook," even though he probably wouldn't be much help at all. Maybe he could play the vital role of taste-tester? As they went through the house, PO was careful to open every closet door, peeking in every room with the bat extended outward to shield Taeil, just in case. It was a fair exchange, he figured. Protection for caretaking. When it was finally time to search the downstairs, PO set to his usual routine which had developed into pushing the door open with his free hand, sticking a protective arm in front of the smaller man, and then peeking in carefully before actually entering. This floor, however, required a little extra work as he stopped each time to check the windows and if someone was readily available, such as a bookshelf, he took the time to push it in front of the glass. Unfortunately, this job was more dangerous than he thought. When coming to the kitchen window, Jihoon pushed it open--for the sake of testing the lock again--and stumbled back a bit when what had to be a stray cat hopped up on the sill. Sighing in relief, since it had taken him off guard, PO lowered the bat which he'd raised instinctively, and stuck his hand out to shoo it off. "Out, out, I need to test the l--" he'd started to mumble. But apparently, his luck from earlier (the luck which consisted of finding another survivor and one that was willing to cook for him, of all things), had run out. The little bugger lifted a paw to not only scratch his hand, but lurched forward to prick his thumb with it's teeth. The bat was on the floor and the cat had either falled off the window sill, run off, as Jihoon was staring mouth-agape at the tiny bud of blood forming on the pad of his thumb. That had certainly looked like a normal cat, and there was nothing to indicate that it wasn't simply that--a normal stray with a bad attitude. But it was also rather likely that the cat had been infected, and just bitten him. Had that actually just happened? He spun around to face the man he'd only just met, hand still held up in front of him. Had he seen what just happened? Would he leave, if he had? Eyes wide, the younger man's hand recoiled a bit, still staring at Taeil. He wanted more than anything to ask what to do, but unfortunately could not find the words to do so. |
