I may be late on this, but to the surprise of absolutely no one, Toriyama has some comments on DBZ.

Akira Toriyama's 2014 V-JUMP Interview

The final opponent of Dragon Ball‘s weekly serialization is Majin Buu. He’s round! He’s formidable! And, he’s tenacious! It’s a string of battles intense enough for even me, the person writing the comic, to get sick of, and which, now that I’m an old man, I can never draw again. Gohan’s funny everyday life in the first half, and the fierce back-and-forth battles of the second half. Check out both sides, which keep transforming to become stronger and stronger, and the Genki-Dama at the end.

Yeah, not really that surprising.
Toriyama's view has probably changed now, considering he's stated that he'd be willing to participate by the same degree he did in BoG to the sequel if it should be made. That shouldn't come as much surprise though, considering it's not as if he's constantly drawing a weekly serial any more like he was for over a decade when the DB manga was ongoing.

That pretty much takes away all sequel potential unless he won't be in charge of them.

We have to understand that Toriyama surely views DBZ differently to the rest of us. I like it, I like to sit down and watch it, it's entertaining, but Toriyama probably doesn't find it entertaining, since it's his own work. He probably looks at it as a chore, which we really can't blame him for.

Toriyama loves DBZ. That's a fact.
