Just got a few things to say in regard to the new series, so here goes. It's goal of making a less filler-frenzied anime is somewhat successful. By somewhat, I mean that it's not 100%, since whilst taking out most of the Great Saiyaman events, it still left in SSJ Goten/Trunks fighting against #18 hand-to-hand. Unlike most retained filler, however, they could've taken it out without it causing harm to the animation and placing of the characters in the scene, so I doubt all the atrocious filler of that arc will be removed. At least in that regard, the more likeable filler fight of Base Vegetto VS Gohan Boo will be left in, since the fight causes Vegetto's placement to go from being on the ground to being in the air by the time he goes SSJ. The change in soundtrack is...OK, I guess. It's definitely not as good as Yamamoto or Kikuchi's scores, but it isn't complete trash. I also find it pleasant that some of the tracks are remixes of previous DB spin off OSTS, such as one in the Gohan VS Dabura fight being blatantly based on one of the Raging Blast osts. Can't remember the name of the specific one, but I do remember it plays when you fight SS2 Goku as Majin Vegeta in the story mode. The openings and endings are pretty good. The songs are catchy and the animation high quality (although it'd catch newcomers off guard when they see how the episodes look by comparison), but for newer fans there'd just be too many spoilers. I also find it pretty stupid that they changed the ending in the most recent episode, considering that it shows focus on the Goku VS Vegeta fight, which if given the filler removal by even a half-assed amount would be lucky to last even an entire episode. Not just that, but they already showed part of it in the previous ending, and both endings feature far more important plot points such as Boo's various forms. Just goes to show that it's focus has gone from trying to bring in new fans to just appeasing the old fans. |

Other fillers are crazy Mr Popo vs SSJ Goten and SSJ Trunks, Goten and also the Trunks plucking of a dinosaur in the Boo Saga. For while Vegetto Base (Boo) vs Buuhan was a good fight with a small advantage for Buuhan pro game. |

So Japanese Buu saga Kai who does the score? It's not just Kikuchi's score thrown in there? DB Kai Saiyan-Cell arc is only watchable with Yamamoto's score IMO. When they redid Kai after the Yamamoto scandal the Kikuchi score was just too damn repetitive..it wasn't blended in smoothly unlike in the original DB and DBZ. Not sure who does the score. All I know is that it's not Kikuchi. I agree with that. Not just was it not blended in well, but if receiving the same footage and same score for it, you might as well be watching DBZ rather than the last few DB Kai Cell Arc ones (though the montage in episode 98 was nice). |
