Why Not Use ASSJ?

Something that's bothering me.

Why is ASSJ considered to be an "Inferior" transformation to MSSJ when not only does the form increase power but it also increases speed as well? Sure, MSSJ doesn't have any strain and ASSJ does but how bad of a strain could ASSJ possibly have? Vegeta was shown to use it quite well when he fought Semi-Perfect Cell.

When Vegeta used it against 2nd form Cell, it was in a fight where he held such an overwhelming advantage that little stamina would be lost, since he didn't need to exert much with it until Cell transformed. Against an equal or stronger opponent, the stamina drain would likely seem far more noticeable. Just imagine how quickly Goku VS Cell would've gone by if he'd only been using SSJ 2nd Grade.

But just how bad is the strain here? Vegeta was using it almost like he would use MSSJ. Even towards the end of the fight with Semi-Cell, he was still raring to go, not showing any stamina loss. Also sure he was still in great fighting shape post-using his Final Flash. It was only after he lost to Perfect Cell did he revert to Base.

Goku could have had an extra power and speed advantage against Cell even if their was a stamina loss though one could argue he wasn't fighting Cell to beat him in the first place.

The Vegeta VS Cell and Goku VS Cell fights were completely different fights though. Comparing one in which the fighter stomps his opponent for the first half and is fighting against an opponent in the 2nd half with barely any resistance (Perfect Cell's only attacks were after the Final Flash iirc), when in contrast to a battle where both sides are going back and forth with many hits being given and taken along with quite a few amped blasts isn't going to look all too similar, especially on equal grounds.

Yeah, I was sorta gonna touch on that point about Goku VS Cell being very competitive unlike Vegeta VS Cell.

Still, I think AT should have done a better job at showcasing ASSJ's stamina loss/strain.

Goku using SSJ Grade 2 against Cell isn't going to put him well above the level of Cell he was fighting..?

I don't think Cell had a huge advantage over Goku post-both of them powering up. Probably something close to a 1.1X advantage.

If Cell were like 1.2X stronger than him, he would have been making a fool out of him.

Exactly...so Goku going SSJ Grade 2 should put him well above Cell's level at that moment in time.
