Goodness, it was cold, so cold that even the dinky cabin on the ship felt like it was inside an a refrigerator freezer. In reality, the ship was actually colder as it floated through the land of icebergs near the solid ice form of Antartica. Aamu shivered inside her cabin as she tried to get dressed, without removing a single layer while staying completely under the covers of her bed on the edge closests to the fire. It was proving to be a difficult struggle. Damn magic trace. If she could, Aamu would have just said a spell which would have made her toasty warm in new clothes. Yet since it was her Christmas break from Hogwarts, she still had the stupid little trace on her.

Finally succeeding after one very hard pull of her puffy outer suit, Aamu heaved herself towards the small window the cabin had. Outside lay the first glimpse of her destination: Antartica. Always a dream of her to visit, she had stolen away under her invisibility cloak. Since then, she had left much of the crew confused as pieces of wood, lighters, food, among other things came missing. One time, she could have sworn that a sailor caught sight of her gleaming red hair. Aamu hurried out the door, her eyes wide with wonder. She was finally here, physically in Antartica, so close that she could almost feel ice beneath her feet. It was just as wonderous as she had always imagined. The stark whiteness against the deep blue sky. The jagged icebergs that had once been a portion of the larger ice sheer. The ...she could hardly explain it as she looked at it. For her, it was undescribable. She rushed towards the stern, her eyes seeing nothing but the magical place beyond it.

"Humph." She suddenly let out as she collided with a very solid object. As her eyes came into a wacery focus, she realized, with sudden panic that she had forgotten on very simple thing: her invisibility cloak. She had exposed herself to the crewman. Bewildered by this realization, she jumped up from the deck and the sprawled sailor, and rushed back towards her cabin, where she would, despite the magic trace, apparate back to Hogsmeade or her home or anywhere but this boat where no doubt a handful of big burly men were currently attempting to track her down. She wanted to faint, or throw up because of her great error. Because her one mistake. Her stomach began to tighten as she ran farther and farther... it felt her anxiety and panic.

Ashes fell from the cigar of the captain. For weeks, their voyage had hit delay after delay all because of one man’s selfish tom-foolery. The man in question happened to be the captain, and his debt was owed to the man standing next to him. Samoin was trying not to breathe in the harmful smoke left behind from the cigar and was, in fact, mere seconds from swiping it from the man’s grasp and into the icy water below, when a chilled wind sent the end into a frozen state. Ah…somebody was looking out for him today.

Samoin had had no intention of traveling to Antarctica to collect the money that was owed him from having protected the man from a ring of gamblers. To his credit, those men no longer existed among the living. Unfortunately, the poor captain had been unable to scrunch together the money but had promised there was a huge bonus to be picked up in Antarctica. The nervous man had twisted his cap several times in hopes of convincing the young were to be patient and give him a chance. The word chance had stopped Sam from brutally attacking the man. Having never been given a chance from the pack that had raised him and taught him to be the killer he was today, he had stopped to consider the possibilities.

So here he was clad in a light leather jacket and wool pants with a sweater for a shirt. Even his boots were light and made of rubber to ward against the water. For him, this weather wasn’t overly bad just chilly. Being a werewolf kept his temperature at a smoldering degree well above one hundred. A disturbance on the deck above him made him turn with a frown heavy on his lips. “What the hell…I thought you said there would be no women on this ship.” The words turned to a growl. He hated being lied to and had demanded that there not be any of the female species.

With the full moon swiftly approaching his senses were on full alert. The mere sent of a woman tended to send his blood into a frenzy, and he did not like mixing business with pleasure. Standing up on the railing, he leaped into the air high enough to grab the final bar. Sheer will pulled him up the remaining bars and onto the deck. The women’s scent was heavy in the air and took him straight down the passageway to the unoccupied cabins. Red hairs flew in the air as the small figure rounded a corner.

Swinging himself around by the bar at the same corner, he landed in front of her by a few paces with an evil glint in his eye. “Going somewhere sugar?” Samoin felt like a pirate standing in front of her with clothing that appeared much out of place, his hair falling in tangled curls and scruff across his face that the cold air refused to let stay shaved, but she had brought this upon herself.

Aamu's could feel her heart beat faster and faster as she ran back towards her cabin. All she had to do was shove her things in her trunk, spin in place and be gone. It was so simple that something was bound to go wrong. As she heard the sailors feet behind her, Aamu kept the thought out of her mind. She had convinced herself that only if she thought it would something happen. She ran on, her feet hitting the wood heavily. Suddenly her warm jacket was no longer needed, she creating more than enough heat in her flight to freedom. Her hair strung out behind her as she ran, practically showing the way for the sailors. It didn't matter. She was almost there, she could taste freedom. Her liitle cabin door shown like a beacon until something blocked her way.

Aamu came to a suddeny panting stop as a large black object sprung up before her. Not again! This has got to stop happening! When would her luck at not running into object suddenly kick in? Or had she already used that up with all her merry jaunts under the invisibility cloak? If she had any air in her lungs not being used for her rapid breathing, she would have screamed. As it was, she only managed to suddenly stop to keep from running into the object.

As she stumbled backward, the object came into sharp focus. It wasn't a granite trap like in Egyptian tombs, it was a man in a leather jacket. She took several more steps backwards after glancing at his eyes. He looked exactly like he wanted to murder her. Aamu felt her throat constrict more as he spoke. Yep, he definently did not have good intentions for her.

She glanced completely around her, spotting a small slimmer of space where she could slid past him. She smiled at him, not letting his tone affect her. "Oh, you know...training for a marathon. " She said flippantly. "There's nothing like nice clean air and utter coldness to get you in shape." She glanced once more behind her, before heading for the hole at his side. If she couldn't get past this jerk, she was toast anyway. Suddenly she changed her mind as she realized this jerk was a swift mover. How else could have caught her? No one ever came back to the passenger cabins. She spun in space, thinking solely of her cabin.

She arrived, thankfully unspilched, and began shoving her things - textbooks, quills and clothes into her school trunk. She needed to hurry before the guy figured out which cabin she was in. If her instincts were correct, it wouldn't be very long at all.

The girl before him almost made him want to shed his tough guy attitude and ask her what had happened to make her experience this type of panic. Why would she even risk a ship ride with a bunch of burly men that had been cooped up too long? Most were nothing better than pirates that had been without the warmth of a woman’s body for far too many days. This little twit before him would more than make one man’s mouth water, including himself.

Despite the angelic features the girl possessed, there was a strength about her that his kind was attracted to. They had to be sensitive to the strong ones in order to ensure the continued success of their line. Samoin also doubted she would take to being grabbed about the middle and dragged down to the brig. He seriously doubted, however, that she was up to the challenge of fighting him off.

His look changed from one of partial lust to that of incredulity. Was she trying to use sarcasm around him? The idea of running around the ship in this ice cold was appealing to him due to his nature, but the tiny woman in front of him didn’t seem like the type to jump the bar and take off at a dead run. There was no way she was anything were, though it was an interesting possibility. “Well, darling, if you want to get in a good work out…” Samoin gave her the once over in a very obvious manner.

The words were stuck in his throat as her body disappeared in front of him. Had he really been out in the weather for that long? Leaning against one of the iced over poles, he jammed his hands into his pockets to consider for a moment. There was no reason for his mind to start dreaming up hallucinations. Resting his chin on his chest, he reconsidered what had happened. The captain had seen the girl also, right?

Kicking off to start walking back, his step was stilled as the same smell surrounding the girl drifted back into his nostrils. A low growl erupted from his throat. She had made a fool of him, and nothing about his personality was going to stand for it. Deciding to take matters into his own hands, he concentrated on the feeling of a shift, until his muscles began to loosen and reshape. His bones bent and snapped as his body contorted and fur began to sprout across his skin. The air around him began to buzz as the final image of the russet wolf emerged and ran toward the source of the smell.

Shoving his nozzle into the snowed over ground, he followed the faint scent to a cabin door. His body circled several times, before it pushed off of a pole and crashed into the door. The sight of the young woman set his blood boiling with rage. He snarled at her, before leaping toward the girl with the intent of knocking her over to the ground. Mid-air, amber eyes happened to take in the items in the room. A chest, magical utensils…the girl was a witch with the intention of disappearing all over again, making him look like a fool. There was no way he was going to allow that to happen.
