Vol 2 September 22nd 2012 It's been an exciting day as teams have been registering from around the Region. Officially on board for the inaugural season as of September 22nd are as follows: The Caspar - Cavalry FC (CAV) Tunasai - Pirates FC (PIR) Free States of Canada - Corinthians FC (COR) Kolab - Governaires FC (GOV) United Republic of Itsaria - VIM FC (VIM) Each team is looking great and the preparation is underway. With only a week until the first set of matches, there is still time for nations wishing to get involved in the League to do so. In other football related news, we saw exciting press releases from three of the five currently registered teams. We saw a brief history, official team roster and a sneak peek at the colors of both Cavalry FC and Governaires FC, as well as a brief history of the Pirates FC with a promise of a team roster to follow soon. We had a moment to speak with Cavalry FC owner and United Caspan Football Association president Adam J. Mejia, who said "The league started with a slow reception, but I believe the other nations are warming up to the idea. In a modern time such as this, it's important to get back to friendly competition. To forget about the troubles of tomorrow for a moment and enjoy a good football match. It's not about who wins or who loses. It's about feeling absolute pride and patriotism to your Nation and supporting them through this Regional league. It's about sportsmanship and unity. We're all on this planet together and sometimes we don't understand the weight of something like that. Bringing nations together with something as simple as a sporting event can really open your eyes, broaden your horizons, and help you realize that there are others just like you all over the place. It's a humbling thought, really" |

Vol 4 October 1st After the first exciting match day, the ILRFL finds itself in Match Day 2 of the regular season. Today's matches include the following: MATCHDAY 2 Vim FC - Cavalry FC Governaires FC - Baconators FC Corinthians FC - Pirates FC Coming from a draw against the late-registering Baconators, Cavalry FC striker Patrick N. Søndergaard, the club's lone goal scorer, had said "They were great. Despite my early goal they didn't falter and held us down for the other 80 minutes where we had a fierce and even battle. Normally I'm disappointing by draws but when your opponent plays so well, it's hard to be anything but proud of both your and their work." He was later quoted saying that he would not let Vim FC's loss to Pirates early Saturday morning allow him to become complacent. Corinthians' Cristiano Ronaldo, after a short interview following their late game loss to the Governaires, said "There was a strange vibe. Coming onto the pitch there was a lack of motivation on the field, and Governaires strong defense certainly didn't help. However at practice yesterday we figured out some plays and found some maneuvers that really work for us and will better prepare us for our next bout on the national scale against Pirates. Coming off of a win against Corinthians during a mid-day match, Governaires goalkeeper Aden Grant expressed his confidence, saying "I'm not worried about the Baconators. I understand they tied against Cavalry, but I believe our club performs at a much higher level. I only wish it was the evening so we could get the match started." Scores will come in this evening in a special Scores Only volume of the ILRFL bulliten, |
