Well this thread as the title suggests is regarding the creation and introduction of a new RP map.

Please use this thread to give idea, thought and discussion regarding a new regional RP map.

Thank you,

Senator Cox

Oh yea, here it is.

We take a regular world map like this...

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/4/44/World_map_blank_shorelines_semiwikimapia.svg

Then we take that map and make it topographic, like Droth did. We can put mountain ranges in different places, deserts are in other places too. Arabia could be green and mountainous while Russia could be arid.

Its a world for us to design

It seems like every once in awhile you guys just up and change the entire RP map. Why not just stick with this one with a few minor additions/changes? Each map we make is not going to please everyone, that's just the unfortunate truth of it. It's hard to please everyone's idea of what the perfect RP map would be. We keep changing it up though, and it might just be wiser to stick to the old map and edit things.

Would you be willing to design the map?

@Neplesia- I would agree with keeping the map and making some edits.

I'm just saying that we use a map for awhile and then just discard it. This messes with RP and all the regional trade/factbook stuff. It changes the entire dynamic of regional RP politics due to distance, location, etc. It would be much better just to keep the original with edits.

When it comes to maps I like change.

The reason why I wanted to change maps is to install a new land system. Our current system has nations, all around the same size, or very large, each holding territory. There is no variation. In a normal map there are small nations and large nations, all of them on our map are large, its boring.

Why not have a map purchasing system. For instance

Territories:
1. Free
2. 100
3. 300
4. 600
5: 1000

Now obviously thats just a prelim list but its best. That way nations who are active and post alot can purchase territory and grow while inactive nations remain small on the map. In essence, our map doesn't look similar, it looks realistic

With a limited map that wouldnt work very well considering that new members wouldnt be able to claim large tracts of land. By the time they had enough money to get any form of substantial land most of it would already be gobbled up by individuals like yourself that have large amounts of funds due to being here for so long.

Of course you would want to apply this system to the region considering that you are one of the nations that have the most to gain from it.

I say that we keep the old map, and perhaps add another continent the size of the original to it. Id do all the map work and create topographic maps for this new land mass, and all the ones that have been created since. We could then have a vote on whether or not to reset the map and allow a reclaim of territories.

To boost roleplay we could all start with 1-3 territories and expand outward, but only through RPs of conquest either set in the modern era or having occurred in the past, such as in the
colonial era.

P.S. I do like the idea of implimenting the money in some way, but I feel like this way wouldnt be benefitial to the growth of rp in the community. Besides, buying territory is only one venue of claiming it. There are wars and other agreements that have been used historically.

This money system has been installed in our allied region The Allied Republics. The money system is similar to what I proposed and it has the support of other members, like Free States, who works in the region of TAR

1. Don't be an asshole and assume I only want this so I can have large tracts of land. I want this to make the map more varied, more realistic. Our current map is a huge conglomerate of land, defying the words Isles, where every nation claims almost as many spots as his heart fits. Look at it, we've filled up the mainland due to huge expansions, the map isn't realistic in the slightest. Not to mention our topography is boring, no offense.

2. Azatica is already in the process of making another map and is putting alot of work into it. Before dismissing him and throwing out his work we need to see what he has done. Our current map is disorganized.

3. For being over a year old, this region is, we have only had about 3 map changes. 1 was our first map, created on paint, very unprofessional and we lost the ability to edit it after it was uploaded on photobucket. The second map change resulted on our new map alos being made using paint. The last one we changed to our current map. Our current map is unprofessional with nations having huge tracts of land.

4. 1-3 territories? That was our problem with our current map. When we created our current we said "take only 1-3 territories" and everyone took 3, which were all around the same size and our map ended up looking like this; unprofessional and messy. Why the money system is good is because it allows nations to expand their size depending on their activity inside the region. Doesn't mean people purchase the territory and its over, like in TAR we would campaign for the territory. Sure, you purchase the land, but in reality you must do an RP conquest for it to be added to your nation. That way we still maintain the realistic nature of expansion.

PS: Our current system of money can be disposed. We could reset the amounts of money and start from the beginning to set people on equal ground

Maybe we could clean up the current map and implant the money system on it. Let's re-start it.
