China furious over Japan PM's visit to war shrine

It seems tension is running high between Korea, Japan and China, as Korea and China seem to completely loose it over the Japanese Prime Minister visiting a Yasukuni war shrine. This is because the war shrine commemorates those that died during Japans brutal colonisation of Korea and occupation of parts of China, as well as 14 class-A war criminals. Some are even reacting by saying that the PM's visit is equivalent to declaring war. China and Korea really want to break away from the past and make a new start (though they still can't seem to get over the past despite many apologies from Japan. Some say that China will continue to blame Japan for a million years), Japanese leaders visits to the Yasukuni always rub them the wrong way (This is the first visit since 2006), However the Japanese PM stated that this was all a misunderstanding, and he did not in any way mean to hurt the Chinese and Korean people, also stating that Japan must never wage war again.

Read the full article below. Read the original article here.

So what are your opinions? I think that every country has the right to commemorate their dead and remember past mistakes. But until all three countries are on the same page in regards to this, I think the Japanese PM should refrain from visiting the shrine for the sake of country to country relations.

However there appears to be many more angles and aspects to this story... As you can see from the end of the last article, with U.S military bases involved, some people believe there were other motives involved. "Abe desperately wanted Nakaima to okay the plan to build a new superbase for the US military in Henoko. Nakaima didn't want to agree because Okinawans are against it. Something happened when Nakaima was in hospital in Tokyo and he caved. Abe went to Yasukuni to give thanks to his ancestral Gods for their help in solving this problem for him." - comment by BertieWooster on original article. His visit was a very public, and probably politically driven event, there is no way that Abe didn't realise in advance the repercussions for his actions in regards to relations with China.

After all of this, if Japan was sensitive to China and Korea's feelings, would they actually reward Japan by not attacking them anymore? Some think not.

*sigh* politics is confusing.
