Hello all, I have some basic noob questions about adding an SSD on an existing PC with a hard drive. My mobo is an MSI 785G-E53. I have had some issues accessing the BIOS and have had to reset the CMOS to do it each time where ESC on initializing worked fine earlier. My PC is running WIN 7 Pro 64 bit on a HDD that also includes MS Office and other downloaded programs. I have freshly loaded WIN 7 onto the SSD (Sammy 850 EVO 250GB) from DVD drive after selecting AHCI in the BIOS. Now installing WIN updates while the HDD is still disconnected. I will adjust boot drive order to make SSD priority. Question: What do I do with the OS on the HDD? OK to leave it on the HDD? Should I install Office on the SSD? If so, can I have the data (outlook.pst, Word, Excel files) directed to the HDD? How? What do I do with the Office program on the HDD? What about downloaded programs that I paid for? Leave on HDD? Download onto SSD? Thank you I did not find the right solution from the internet References : https://forums.bit-tech.net/index.php?threads/adding-ssd-what-to-do-with-progs-on-hdd.287552/ animated infographic Edited by BrianPugh, Jan 11 2018, 06:36 AM.
