State Minister

NOTE: PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES WILL HAVE ANOTHER, SEPARATE DEBATE. DO NOT POST HERE. THANK YOU Calling all Senate candidates in the first ever NDU elections: Here's the place to explain your positions on the issues and criticize your opponents (if you'd like to). The format is simple. As of this post, we have 7 candidates (I believe). I will post a question, and then wait to ask another until either a) 4 candidates have answered b) 36 hours have passed. You may critique other candidates, but keep it civil and do not post more than two rebuttals per question. Finally, if you are not in the debate, DON'T POST!!! With that, let's begin: What would be your first priority if elected? |

I'd probably try to set up a recruiting program, because as of now, we only have <20 actual citizens in the region, and most, if not all, were former DUAN citizens. |

My first priority would be insuring the stability of the NDU after what happened in DUAN. Part of that will be working on recruitment, as well as insuring that all citizens feel represented by the Senate and have faith in the government. |

Proposing legislation that both strengthens our fledgling democracy and encourages activity in the Senate. |

Setting up a recruitment board to help activity. I hope that we can increase our amount of active members by as much as possible. |

I would try to strenghen alliances with other regions & attempt to find nations who used to live in DUAN, as well as set up a recruiting program to help our region grow |

Thank you candidates. Many of you referenced recruitment as a top priority. How would you go about this specifically? If you would establish a recruitment board, how would it function? And how would you bring members on board and have them participate? |

I would have the senate choose three volunteers to telegram newly created nations & convince them to join our region. To get volunteers, I would allow the recruiters to remain as citizens of the region even when they have travelled to other regions to get nations to join our region |

Once again, I believe stability is the number one issue here. For new nations, they are much more likely to want to join a stable region than a non-stable one. I would also set up a volunteer recruitment board to telegram new nations as well as to post on RMBs of other regions if it seems that members of that region are looking for something different in their government. I also would establish a university for new nations, as well as current ones, to learn more about the region and how they can better become involved in our government. |

I would draft legislation to create a permanent position named Director of Recruitment who would be appointed by the President and responsible for all recruitment matters and strategy. I would also play my part in keeping our Government and region active so that new nations that come here actually want to stay and can easily join in and take part. |

For the recruitment board, I'd set up a board via legislation I'd co-write, and then open applications and encourage people to join. Once a couple people join, there'd be a meeting setting up a telegram and "shifts", which could either be per region or the old "signing in/signing out". |
