Is it time for a new telegram?; Recruitment discussion

We note that perhaps 100 nations have been telegrammed by way of recruitment in the last 3 months. The total moved here is less than 6, of whom at least 2 have CTEd.

Is it time to rewrite the telegram? It's not like the currentt one works like a charm...

Soon, we shall post a suggestion for a new version, but all responses are welcome.

I agree. As a matter of fact, I'm pinning this to the WFE so that we can get to work on one right away.

Onza we will be interested to discuss with you the telegram you are using. It has proved efficacious. Has the new system made a difference?

I'll post it here in just a moment. It's still in the beta stages, and it's only been modified a little, though it seems to have a rather dramatic effect. That's not to mention that now all recruitment telegrams get a button appended to the bottom of them that allows a nation to move in just one click.

Here's the telegram:

Quote:

Hello, [nation][/nation]!

I'd like to invite you to our region, [region]The New Democratic Union[/region]. We are always in search of new members to become a part of our community.

One feature of the NationStates is that you will get connected to others through a region. It's important to join a region that promotes growth and has a good amount of activity - The New Democratic Union is one of those regions! You'll make new friends and have lots of fun!

A couple features of the NDU (short for the New Democratic Union) include:

- The NDU is a free, fair, and open democracy. That means that everybody is treated equally, and that everybody gets an equal opportunity to succeed. That way, everybody gets a shot at making their time in the region enjoyable. This also means that you are free to live as you please. Feel like running for office? Go for it. Would you rather just role play a little and vote in the World Assembly? That's perfectly acceptable.

- Our region is safe and secure - in NationStates, there is something called "raiding", where a group of hostile nations move to the region and take over. In the NDU, our founder is active. The Founder can simply ban and eject any raiders that try to harm the region, so the safety of our region is relatively secure.

- National Sovereignty - in our region, you are free to rule your nation as you wish. There are no requirements, such as a minimum political freedoms rating or World Assembly membership, which plague so many other regions. You are also free to express your own, real life and role playing opinions without persecution from others. In the NDU, all opinions are greatly valued and respected.

If you want to take part in a free, fair, open, and democratic region, move to our region, [region]The New Democratic Union[/region]. All you have to do is click the button appended to the bottom of this telegram.

Thank you, and feel free to telegram me anytime!

So, it's really the same TG. Maybe it's the new easy way to jump region that helps.

We would still like to float some alternative TG options.

At NCON I've sent more than 50 recruitment TGs to new nations in one day and generally we would get between 0-7 new nations. I've noticed that the chances of them moving are higher if you are the first, or close to the first, nation to TG them.

I tested your theory by telegramming nations founded within the past 10 minutes of the time that I'd begun recruiting, and the results support your theory. Of around some 15 nations that I telegrammed, 4 joined the region.

Those statistics may not seem all that great, but compared to the average wave of telegramming I do to around 50 nations, it is a major step forward in our growing recruitment program.

Likewise.

Today I telegrammed probably 10-15 nations, and the only one that moved here was one I caught within a minute or two of the founding.

Let's get this project started.

Everyone who submits at least one draft of a recruitment telegram, even if it is a modification of another, will be placed on a temporary Recruitment Committee and, should they wish, can be exempted from the upcoming reboot of the recruitment drive.
