All this time the tom had sat and watched as others' dreams came true, their lives never showing that bitter emptiness. Life was of course full of that emptiness that was like a black hole, sucking up all hope, but surgingpaw himself had never had that happiness that everyone else occasionally felt. The measly black heart he had couldn't take it any longer, this deadly silence that ate at him, that never ending pain and longing in his heart, for an apprentice it was too much. No matter how hard he tried he could never get rid of it, never in a million years. His parents had already given up on him, maybe it was time to give up too and let the emptiness swallow him up, his existence to be forgotten by everyone. That small urge to fight back always stopped him though, its way of getting to him completely and getting rid of these thoughts he had every now and again. In his mind he was nothing but a pile of guts and blood, the rays of the sun shining down on the remainders of him and making him the roadkill he was on the inside. On his jaw in the pile of his everything was engraved the word, "Emptiness." Watching over the river's surging waters with his pale amber optics, he gazed at the fish that swam beneath his face. Were they sick of life too, did they just want to get away like him? Maybe, but then again, it was time for them to migrate. So now, he was alone. The chocolate tom backed away from the river, his optics showing none of the gushing emotions he felt. That was fine, he knew no one cared how he felt, so what was the point in showing it? Dead leaves crunching beneath his paws, he padded farther and farther away from the river, to his secret place. The place where he always thought more seriously and realistically, the place where he belonged. Under some maples and through the dense bushes, is where he sat, the clearing from the trees, showing a nice blue sky with dots of white clouds. The green, white, and blue looked so pretty mixed together. As silence gripped the land, he watched the sky with silence creeping into his soul. With a small sigh he turned away from the perfect sky and he began to think, the maples swaying in the wind like they were dancing. |

Forbiddenstar gave a huff of annoyance as she walked out of camp. She walked for a bit before she saw her clan mate, an apprentice named Surgingpaw and saw that he looked a little lonely, that was a feeling Forbiddedstar was used to. "You know, I used to do the same thing...I always wanted to get away from the people who could care less about me" she said softly but firmly as she walked towards him |

The pure white apprentice bounced out of the dull camp she'd stayed in for most of her life so far, she over-whelmed with the excitement of recently losing her kithood. She felt like she could stay up all night! There were so many benefits of Apprenticeship. The voice of Forbiddenstar filled her ears and she couldn't stop herself from joining in. If the leader was talking it had to be something fantastic! Right? She darted forward on swift paws, almost floating above the ground at the pace she set. Each movement was fluent and well practised, even though she was young she had the ability to move with agility. Of course with training she could be much more efficient but for now it was just a natural talent waiting to be fully discovered. Blizzardpaw grinned, not even a Cheshire cat could beat her. It was almost a little too much and it swallowed up half of her petite doll's face. "Hey! You look a little glum. Why is that? What is there to be sad about?" she asked Surgingpaw, a question on her face. Such a joyful creature would instantly be puzzled by behaviour like what she was experiencing. It didn't seem right, she'd been lucky, living a cheerful life of no worries. Not a single miserable thought showed up in her mind. |
