Artums are the primary members of the Coven, Rogues aside. They are essentially humans that were born capable of producing vastly excess Navis than what their bodies require. This excess energy is capable of being channeled for various intents. They date roughly two thousand years ago. Most have normal human life spans although some have discovered ways around this limitation. Artums are masters of Hexes and Enchantment. It's essentially all they do and they were the pioneers of such arts. Once their powers settle in a special type of creature called a Familiar will seek the Artum and bond with it. This bond is permanent and allows a telepathic communication. Due to their superior Hex affinity and weakness of the human body Artum's have been known to frequently create custom enchanted equipment. Artum's gain more power in a unique manner: they absorb the navis structure of fallen enemies in a process called assimilation. This process doesn't cause large leaps of power as only a fraction is absorbed and only a fraction of that fraction actually ups the maximum amount of Navis for an Artum. Unintelligent spirits, being pure navis, are favored targets for ambitious individuals. The obvious weakness of an Artum is their human nature. Physically they are perfectly human, the same kind of human that can frequently be tore limb from limb by 90% of the supernatural community. Many try to off balance this limit via Enchantments but that is always a tricky art. |
