Platform 8 Register for this RP here! Registration status: OPEN Profiles and Summary Discussion Thread ---------------- On February 14th, 2067, the world received news from top polar scientists that a meteor would hit the polar ice caps, shattering them and drowning the planet. For ten years, humanity rushed to find a way to save the planet. Coming up short, there were two solutions: find a new planet, or move humanity upwards to avoid the flood. Those that fleed the planet in search of a new home were called Pioneers, and left the planet in large space ships called Arks. The rest of humankind were forced to find a way to avoid the incoming flood. A scientist by the name of Andor Rigel came up with three self-sustaining plans to save as much of humanity as possible: the satellite plan, the Platform plan, and the Floatilla plan. The Satellite plan involved space stations set up to follow the rotation of the globe, orbiting at a relative speed to the planet's spin consistently as to not crash into one another. The Platform plan, the most prolific of the three, involved massive megacity-like platforms that would be raised 30 feet above estimated water levels after the melt of the ice caps. These would be sustained by their own climate control screens and systems. The third, the floatilla plan, involved creating floating islands. This third plan was thought never to have come to fruition due to the sudden death of Andor a couple months before the meteor's estimated time of arrival. On June 12th, two weeks before the final platform was built, the meteor hit the ice caps. This was a whole month before the estimated time of arrival, and 3/4ths of the population of Earth would be wiped out. The day would be known to many as the Day of Noah, as people fleed to the fourty platforms and twenty-thousand shuttles to the satellite stations located across the planet. Around fourty years have passed since that day, and the climate has finally settled on the planet. While the satellites have stagnated and continued operations the same since Day 1, the platforms expanded, creating roads and megabridges connecting them all together across the globe to establish trade. The planet, although flooded, had survived and was once again thriving in a new form. However, there is something festering beneath the surface of the post-apocalyptic utopia of the platforms. People seem to be dying left and right. The biggest problem is the phenomena that nobody recognizes the corpses. It's as if they were stricken off the records and removed from the memories of the people; however, their bodily possessions indicate they did live nearby. People began to call these corpses "husks." On October 23rd, 2098, the Stonecreek Mall in Section 7, the shopping section on Platform 8, suddenly went dead, filled entirely with husks. About two hundred husks were found inside the mall. Panic began to strike the citizens of Platform 8. People tried to schedule a transfer to another platform, attempting to escape from what they believed to be an unknown threat. The panic caused the local government to react. With the help of the Mayor, they established Horizon, a company devoted entirely to researching the Husk phenomena and developing a way to combat it. Due to its nature, the people working in the company keep no contact with the outside world, living in apartments located near the base floors of the giant skyscraper. People began to notice only government officials entering and leaving the building. Nobody else went in or came out. After ten years, the husks seemingly disappeared from the eyes of the citizens, and everything seemed to return to normal. Little did they know that the problem was just as bad as it was on that 23rd of October... It is September 2nd, 2110, and the first day of school for Ordon High School in Section 18. The school had been finished during the summer, and everyone, including the staff, is new. You are a teacher, student, or faculty member of this school. Regardless of your position, you will be dragged into the mystery of the Husks against your own will. And the mystery of the husks goes much deeper than it initially appears... ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Welcome to Platform 8! Hello, and welcome to Platform 8, the biggest and most prominent platform in the network! We pride ourselves in being the largest and most successful platform to date. Platform 8 started out estimated to be the size of what used to be the city of New York but has since expanded to the estimated size of what was once the state of New Jersey. The best part is...we're still expanding, and we're looking for more citizens to make the best platform even better! Platform 8 is divided into 20 sections, each with its own purpose. Section One is devoted to our trade and commerce with other platforms. Before it was only used for storage and access to the platform, Mr. Antony Williams decided it would be the perfect hub for trade relations. To this date, Mr. Williams is the second most successful person on the planet, shortly behind Anto J'zalli, creator of the Web that spans the globe and connects all our platforms together. Sections two through four are designated for natural land. Section 2 is our farmland where all food that isn't made through matter converters is grown and harvested. Section 3 is the wildlife refuge, where we keep the surviving species for repopulation should we figure out how to fix our planet to the way it once was. Section 4 is our designated park, perfect for hiking or spending the weekend in relaxation. Section Five, our technical center, is where all our maintenance systems are located. It's thanks to the people here that we are safely suspended above the dangerous waters and kept in safe weather conditions should they take a turn for the worse. The head of staff at Section Five, Jeremy West, has been looking for ways to improve on our system so that we may emulate the weather of the seasons year round. Sections Six, Eight, Twelve, Fourteen, and Eighteen are all residential and school districts. It is here that we foster growth for the next generations of Platform 8 and keep our people comfortable and happy. Each area has a different focus: Section Six is housing for our maintenance and mechanical staff. Section Eight is housing for our many Section 7 workers. Sections Twelve, Fourteen and Eighteen have differing levels of schooling as well as housing for families. Section Seven is our commercial shopping sector. You can literally buy just about anything in this section: from clothes to security drones, Section Seven will have anything and everything you could ever want. Filled with friendly employees at every shop, Section Seven is considered the biggest shopping sector in the forty platforms, a title we're incredibly proud of. Sections Nine through Eleven are reserved for our corporate offices. Section Ten, nicknamed the Horizon Section, is where our local government offices are located and the famous Horizon building where most of our safety and defense research takes place. We strive to make Platform 8 not only the best but the safest platform on the planet. Section Thirteen is our technologies department, the birthplace of the Mag Rail. It is here that we create the newest and most advanced technologies to make your life easier. Drones, House LI's, Matter converters, and many other new devices are created and improved here. On the subject of the Mag Rail, it is the fastest, most reliable method of public transit across the platform. Topping at 150 miles per hour, the Mag Rail utilizes AntiGrav lifts and propels itself using a single, poweful magnetic rail. The transit system has many trams that run throughout the entire platform, carrying over 20,000 people per every 2 hours on average. Section Fifteen is dubbed the Workshop. Here all the repairs are done on our maintenance equipment as well as organization for work on the entire platform. From construction crews to plumbers, this section is the grease that keeps the wheels of our platform spinning! Sections Seventeen and Nineteen are our recreation sectors. Section Seventeen hosts a ton of natural and sport-like activites, from Gravball stadiums to ski resorts. It is home of our Platform's gravball team, the Eights, who are currently undefeated this season. Go Eights! Section Nineteen is home to our amusement and big entertainment, such as movie theaters and studios and amusement parks. If you are looking for fun vacation activities, this is the section to go to! Section Twenty is considered one of our most important sections. Jutting out from the rest of the platform, Section Twenty houses the shuttles that transport food and supplies to our Station friends up in space. They depend on us and other platforms to provide for them while they themselves do high-end research and spatial communications with the people who left around sixty years ago on the Arks. We hope you enjoy your visit to Platform 8 and consider becoming a citizen of our great platform! ---------------- Sometimes it's better to just disappear off the face of existence if it means protecting those dear to you... |

Emeris had heard the Forgotten mention a fight several times. It didn't bode well in his mind but in the history of the world proving through combat was a common method of testing new recruits. He looked at the large figure in the armor and figured it was the forge guardian and the multitude of individuals near Michael were certainly the squad leaders. So all that was left was to approach and go through whatever trials assailed them. "Lead the way." |

When Elene's eyes finally adjusted to the light she let out a quiet gasp of pure awe. Her blue-green eyes widened as she looked about with a captivated smile, taking a few steps forward. "Wow..." Ben's words were easily tuned out by Elene's ears but she subconsciously walked with the group as they continued on. |

Charlotte took the expanse in with wide eyes, however, she remained silent. Her fingers twined together, resting at her waist. Without much thought, she followed after the group-- head turning to observe from every angle the area. |

The group continued down the path, passing over a small stream that trickled underneath an ornate wooden bridge. As they got closer, the sound of the vortex below grew slightly louder. It sounded like a small tornado, but the air was unusually still. However, the peaceful nature of the area seemed to show that was not entirely unusual. Ben stretched, yawning loudly. "Damn, this place always makes me sleepy. I think I may just end up takin' a nap somewhere instead of watching the duel." Leya giggled, wrapping her arm around Ben's. "Aw, Ben, we need to be there for the Boss. The nap can wait until after, right?" Ben sighed. "Aw, man. I guess I can. After all, we don't really need sleep anyways right?" Rin nodded briskly. "Sleep is not necessary for proper bodily functions for us. I believe the same could be said for Charlotte. We'll see if that's the case when we chat with the guardian." After a couple more minutes of walking, they finally reached the large platform. Everyone turned to face the group, waving or nodding. The group seemed much larger in person (save for Max, who stood at two feet eight inches). It seemed Michael and Cassandra were not present; whether they were below the forge or elsewhere was yet to be determined. Max was the first person to speak up. "Welcome, Squad One! Seems your entire entourage came today! Who's holding the fort at home, then, hm?" Rin bowed slightly, as did the rest of the group. "Aaron has decided to stay behind. The meeting left him a little...'spooked.'" Max blinked, shocked by the response. "Oh. Uh, my apologies, I forgot about his past." Rin shook her head. "There is no reason to apologize, sir. He is not here, and should not be the topic of conversation anyways." She turned to the rest of the group, gesturing to each person as she introduced them. "These are the Generation Nine's and the Devourer: Emeris, Elene, and Charlotte, respectively. We may be getting them their contracts early and see what can be done about Charlotte." The large being in armor, who looked to be about 9 feet tall, walked over to the group, stopping before Charlotte. The armor looked otherworldly, as if it almost wasn't made for a human being. A large poleaxe was held tightly in its left hand. A single red dot, assumed to be its eye, scanned across her body. It finally spoke up, a motherly, feminine voice uncharacteristically echoing through its hollow interior. "So...you are the first Devourer of this time period to view the Forge. I would've hoped there would've been more, but it appears you were the first. Not entirely surprising, as most Devourers in prior times joined the wars late." The forge guardian held out a hand to Charlotte. "How rude of me. I am Vylian, the Forge Guardian since the Morning Sun of the First Dawn. I have been tasked with protecting the Forge by its Creators as well as guiding the first generation of both its types of users in the use of their powers. You are not denied access to the forge; however, the benefit out of using it will differ than that of the others. While a Contractor may be able to modify the current abilities the Contract gives, your use will be to draw out the corruption you 'devour' from Dream Eater souls and convert it into power for your soul symbiote." Vylian paused. "But it is not enough. You will need to make your own contract with a Contractor when the time comes. The choice to whom you will contract to will be entirely your own to make, but be wary that not all Contractors are compatible with all Devourers." Max chuckled, a devious look sparking in one of his eyes. "Ahhh, I knew you were something special the moment my little soldier girl picked you up, Charlotte. Now what do you say you and I get to know each other a little bit better, eh?" The large, dark-skinned man in the trenchcoat bopped Max on the head. "Knock it off, Max. You sound like a perverted old man." The gothic looking boy trudged forward, speaking up. "Guess we gotta get introductions out of the way first then. I'm Decarde Nightbane, contract name Necrosis and Squad Leader of Squad Three. My ability is soul puppetry. I can power up a few loose souls that follow around as my companions and fight with them against my foes. I can also, in rare cases, have them enter husks and manipulate them against my enemies. I try not to, but in some cases it can't be avoided." The twin of Cassandra was nudged forward, looking very shy and embarrassed. "H-h-hello, my name is Jessica. My contract name is Sunburst and I'm the lieutenant of Squad Two. I can manipulate light and use it as a weapon...and stuff. It's not really a great power..." She shrunk behind the crimson-haired girl, who sighed and shook her head. The large trenchcoated man stepped forward. "Oswald Lector, Shadowguard. Squad Five leader. I manipulate shadow energy to either become solid or become intangible. It has its uses, but it can also serve as armor, among other things." The crimson haired girl finally removed herself from Jessica. "I'm Andrea, contract name Bloodrose and leader of Squad Four. My power is blood manipulation. Any source of blood I have touched can be manipulated however I wish. I can also use it to make Gungnir, a conversion of blood into energy." Max stepped forward. "My name is Max, contract name Gravity Bomb and leader of Squad Six. Don't let my looks fool you, I'm a lot older than I look. Charlotte and I have already met, and she has witnessed my power first hand. I can use my gravity gauntlets to modify the amount of force I hit an object with, as well as some other neat tricks that come with having the powers of gravity at my fingertips." The girl in the camo tanktop stomped forward, her army boots clomping loudly against the stone surface of the Forge. "I am Rita Forthwrite, Squad Seven leader. My contract name is Terran, and I'm the wielder of the Earth Hammer. It's an interesting ability that allows me to manipulate my attributes to certain elements of our planet." The final leader, the white-haired boy, stepped forward, red eyes piercing. He grinned, showing off a set of large fangs. "Vincent Victore, Squad Eight leader. My contract name is Slayer, and I excel in sapping the power of an enemy and turning it against them. I used to be Michael's partner as our abilities went hand-in-hand." He cracked his neck. "But who'd think that you guys would show up? I understand that you need to be here, Armsmaster Rin, but what's Dragonsoul and Soundbreaker doing here? You even brought the newbies." Rin frowned. "They need to be introduced and given a crash course on what a fight really looks like. This is a good introduction into the Forgotten." Vincent shrugged. "Whoa, now, take a chill pill. I was just seeing what your reasoning was for bringing the others along. Don't need to bite my head off for it." He grinned once more, showing off his large fangs. |

Emeris hung back behind Charlotte, using her as a wall so that the squad leaders and the guardian wouldn't bother him. He listened intently to the leaders' powers and began to wonder what kind of power he would have. His face turned skyward as he pondered and whatever conversation happened after the introductions were lost on him. What would he do? What did he want to do? He sighed and pulled a hand through his hair and layered his fingers in the mass of hair before the tie that held together his pony-tail. He figured he'd cross each bridge as it came, using what little information of this world he had discovered not 12 hours ago to take the next step. Change - it was such a funny thing and could drown you in itself. But that was fine. He'd take it one step at a time. Edited by wolfang237, Feb 27 2012, 07:38 PM.

Charlotte's eyes flicked over the Forge Guardian nervously, fear creeping into her expression. She shook its hand, and took a step back. Curiously, she tilted her head as the squad leaders introduced themselves, arms folding. Carefully, she nodded to each. Her weight shifted, and she tried to look a little less awkward. |

Elene snapped back into attention as the introductions began. She looked to each speaker respectfully; observing and listening to their titles and powers. Standing off slightly to the side from her group she holds her hand up at shoulder-level for a motionless wave. "Yeah, I'm Elene," she said with a goofy smile. "Awesome place you have here." Vincent chuckled at Elene's comment. "You should thank Ozzy's lieutenant for this. She's the Doorman. Pretty much set us up with the ability to hop from one end of the platform to the next with little problem. She also got us this nifty little place to keep the Soul Forge." He gently pushed a nearby soul off in another direction. "That, and the souls can relax here with little harm to them. The vacant energy of this place has a tendency to purge and purify. That's why souls that have been corrupted are much safer here than in our dimension." Oswald sighed. "That's not necessarily the truth. Izzy still thanks everyone for helping her set the gateway system up. It took effort from a lot of people getting the right materials to make the gates stable for four years each." Vylian paused, glancing over to the forge. "It seems the judgement is about to commence. I will reveal the inner chamber now." The floor below them suddenly faded, still tangible but entirely invisible. Below revealed the central chamber, a flat surfaced room of stone. The room itself was perfectly square, the walls with smooth, perfect bricks and designed with many lines that jut off at ninety degree angles in intricate designs. Strange lights seem to run across the divots in the bricks. A technologically advanced pillar with many monitors and input boards scattered around it stood tall in the center. Energy that was being funneled to the top could be seen swirling its way upwards, starting somewhere deeper beneath the visible ground below them. Below them, in opposite corners stood Cassandra and Michael, contract in hand and glare in each others' direction. A small drone floated around, scanning the two of them before floating upwards and out of the room through a doorway behind Michael. Vylian's voice echoed through the entire realm as she spoke. "The Judgement has started. I have chosen Bloodrose as the referee. Should one of them be able to land a killing blow without chance of retaliation, a point will be issued. First to three points wins. You may now contract." Cassie held up her contract, a small keychain attached to her phone. Her appearance changed, granting her tight fitting armor and a large spear that seemed to cackle with electricity. The fingers of her gauntlets ended in jagged points, and a large thunderbolt insignia sat on the tabard hanging from her waist. She grinned, taking a ready stance with her spear. She said something, the sound not traveling upward. Her grin slowly faded as she glanced onward. Michael, who had already contracted, was changing yet again. His hair began to stand on end, changing to the bright blue that his eyes were. His body cackled with energy, blue bolts running across his body. The wick of flame in his right eye seemed to roar with excess energy. The gun in his right hand had changed, the oversized canister pistol replaced with what seemed to be a small arms pistol. It cackled with the same energy he did, the clip below falling out as he reloaded. He held the gun upward with both hands, aiming it at Cassandra. Rin's eyes were wide. "He's bypassed his first tier lock." The rest of the group stared on in confusion, save for the rest of Squad One, Vincent, and Max. They too shared Rin's look of shock. Vylian slammed her poleaxe into the ground, and the duel started. Cassandra immediately shot forward at an unreal speed, lightning arcing around her and leaping out of her spear. She thrust forward, stopped by a strange energy burst from Michael's gun. She blocked it and was shot back a few feet. Michael fired off another few bursts at Cassandra, none of the shots hitting as she swiftly blocked them with her spear. She thrust it forward, a bolt of electricity flashing between the spear and the gun. It connected, and Michael jolted for a second and going still. After a couple seconds, he lifted his head upward and fired a few more rounds, seemingly unharmed by the electrocution. Vincent shook his head. "Michael is pulling all the stops on this one, huh? I think she'll last another couple minutes before he goes all out." Jessica squeaked, horrified by the comment. "What is he going to do to her?" Max sighed, watching the fight with disapproval. "The moment he removed the first restriction level was the moment she lost that fight. I don't think she was aware of how seriously furious she made him." The fight continued, Cassandra striking Michael a few more times with lightning. This would again stun him for a few seconds before he resumed firing, responding slowly and barely moving from his spot. Eventually Cassandra would close the gap between the two, causing Michael to defend himself against her spear once more. As if a switch was flipped, Michael glared and discarded the gun. He pulled out his blade, now pulsing with energy that drifted off in small tendrils. He swung, slicing Cassandra's spear in two. The top end of the spear spun outward, flying behind him and embedding itself within the rock. The electrical current slowly died on it. Cassandra dropped the lower half of her spear, shaking. Michael trudged forward, flipping the blade around in his hand and slamming the butt of the hilt into her gut. A large, blue explosion shook the area as Cassandra was shot back with an immense amount of force. She hit the wall, embedded there for a few seconds before gravity took hold and she flopped out lifelessly. Michael sheathed his blade and ended his contract, the weapons and clothing disintegrating off his body. He walked forward, picking up Cassandra and dragging her out of the room. Vylian once more slammed her poleaxe into the ground. "The fight is now over. Michael is the victor and may choose the fate of Cassandra." |

As the unreal fight sprawled out before the onlookers, Emeris's face began to twist in anger and disapproval. This was ridiculous, needless, and cruel. Emeris stood by what he said - any more of this and the Forgotten were doomed. If Michael chose to kill Cassandra, they would suddenly lose a chunk of their power - a power they really shouldn't be able to spare. But from what Emeris had seen he didn't think Michael was making the choice now; it looked more like he had already chosen to kill her and, in that fight, had carried out his will. From where Emeris stood, Cassandra seemed dead. Without even registering his movements, Emeris had teetered away from the group that stood on the precipice that overlooked the 'stadium' and was dumping his forehead into his open palm. More and more it seemed that the Forgotten were just a bunch of immature soldiers trying to survive a war that's been turning on them. On the other hand, Emeris could understand that he didn't have all the pieces to the puzzle, including pieces the other Forgotten did know. Although he was disgusted by the way the Forgotten treated each other he had to resign himself to accepting that he was probably wrong and would be wrong for a long time. The climber shook his head violently and sighed, thinking 'just one step at a time'. |

Charlotte looked on with grimaces and winces, as if sympathizing with Cassie. Her arms remained folded under her chest, and she stood pointedly behind Max-- peering over the short boy to observe the altercation. Chocolate brows knitted together as she observed, almost critically, their movements. The overwhelming desire to test out her own abilities, especially after her own incident with Max, seemed to bubble up in the back of her brain. The Devourer chewed at her lower lip, fingers picking at the sleeves of the pull over, arms still crossed. |

When the floor had 'vanished' Elene quietly gasped then braced herself for a sudden drop. A moment later was when the realization that she was safe had hit her. She tilts her head, peering down at the two below. When the fight began Elene sat cross-legged; propping her elbows on her knees and holding her neck with her hands so that she can still stare downwards. "... Wow..." Her blue-green eyes watch Michael with an intrigued glaze. And just like that the battle was over. Elene thins her lips as Michael drags Cassandra away then raises her head to peer at the rest of the spectators. |

A minute later a hatch opens on the far end of the platform, revealing a curved staircase. Out walked Michael with Cassandra slung over his shoulder. He set her down carefully, brushing off his coat. Aside from being knocked out cold, the girl only had a few minor scratches and bruises. Michael himself looked annoyed. "While I'd normally wait for her to become lucid before I administer her judgement, I'm in a rather foul mood from all of this. I'll administer her punishment here, with you all as my witnesses." Michael held out his brother's memento. "As the victor of the judgement duel and by my powers as head of the Forgotten, I hearby strip you, Cassandra Gold, of all rank and title. You are hereby removed from Squad Two and will be placed under probation until your attitude improves. In the meantime, you will be serving under Squad One, aiding in tasks around the squad as Rin or I see fit." Michael walked over to Jessica, giving her a pat on the shoulder. "Congratulations, Jess, you're now the Squad Leader of Squad Two. You are to pick a lieutenant of your squad as you see fit," he stated halfheartedly and without even attempting to hide a shred of his annoyance. He then walked off, gesturing to Vylian to have a private conversation as he left Jessica behind looking absolutely shocked and terrified. Jessica sputtered, whimpering as she fell to her knees. She was clearly in shock. The rest of the group remained silent as Michael went to go speak with Vylian, at a loss for words. |

Elene turned herself slightly to spot Michael and an unconscious Cassandra. She remained sitting, straightening her back slightly as he spoke his judgement. With a slight wince on hearing the verdict Elene glances to poor Jessica. Her eyes follow Michael and Vylian before slowly turning to the others. "... What an interesting day this has been," she states with a half-smile. |

Emeris sighed in rielief that Cassandra was still alive and plopped down on the ground somehow tired, even in the ethereal realm of energy they seemed to be in. Although Cassandra was still alive, the Forgotten may not be better off - it had been a choice. A choice to try to straiten out Cassandra. A choice to force Jessica into leadership. But looking at Jessica now, and thinking about the hardships Cassandra might present in Group 1, Emeris only hoped it would be the right choice. But it wasn't his choice. One step at a time - he would deal with Cassandra with kindness and acceptance because ,at that moment, she needed both a mentor (Michael) and some friends in order for the 'rehabilitation' to truly work. Emeris hoped he wouldn't be the only one to realize this. And he wanted to talk to Jessica before she was railroaded into her role as a leader. It would be hard, but someone would have to tell her that she would need to change or she would drown. Leadership was hard - there are always dissenters. There are always questions. And many leaders see conspiracy. Cassandra might have fallen for that, yet her personality had kept her afloat - Jessica's personality just might get her drowned in all the politics and responsibility she was inheriting. And Emeris wanted to tell her, before she could drown, that bridges are amazing things. You could cross them one at a time and they would never let you drown. One bridge at a time, he would say. One step at a time. |

Charlotte did little more than wince and grimace when Michael spoke of Cassandra's fate. An empathetic, reassuring smile was offered to Jessica. Hands were shoved into the pouch of the pull over she wore, and her hair had been pulled over one shoulder. The Devourer offered Emeris and Elene a brief grin when Elene spoke, nodding enthusiastically. |

((Changing his analogy so that it fits a climber)) Emeris didn't grin back - seeing nothing to grin about. Instead he trotted over to Jessica and put a hand on her shoulder. "This may not be very comforting but you have inherited a tough job. Whoever you chose as your lieutenant needs to be someone you can trust - someone who has your back. I won't lie - leading your team will be hard, but I've learned a lot in my life, including something that decreases stress levels: you can plan your path up a wall all you want, you will still make mistakes. You'll have misjudged this handhold when you had planned ahead or this foothold was actually further to the left than you thought. It's okay to plan a path, just remember that whenever you make a move, consider your options and feel them out before reaching for the next hold. Patience and Wisdom are a climber's virtue - without them he would fall. So take it one step at a time. Don't worry about your sister, either. I'll do what I can to make sure she's treated fairly. So leave it to me - you just worry about your own holds." Emeris stood up, patted Jessica one last time, and then regrouped with Elene and Charlotte. He glanced at Cassandra and began plan out the paths, look at the options for every move. He knew his goal, now he just had to approach each hold and consider the options.
