This thread will be only for information regarding the Rites, and any questions can be asked in-game. Ranking Rites The Rite of the Tribesman: The Rite of the Tribesman is a Rite performed by the Youngbloods of the Tribe in order to gain the rank of Tribesman. They will be given to the Youngblood's when there IC interview has been completed and they have joined the Tribe. You must be able to prove you will be a function part of the Tribe. To be a functioning part of the Tribe, initiates must prove themselves. They must prove: 1. They are willing to give and provide for the Tribe 2. That they show an interest in one of the three trees (Mistwalker, Brave, Sunwalker, respectively.) 3. They must show that they are up to the challenge of being a Hawktotem 1. They are willing to give and provide for the Tribe: They will show this by taking on a profession that is right for your character. The character must show IC proficiency with the profession. You will not be forced to level a profession OOCly. However, those who have leveld their profession OOCly will be considered for the veteran ranks. Following up on that, the character must ICly give some manner of background in the profession, so to speak. They must have a reason for being a Blacksmith or a miner. The list is right here, and it shall be added to as suggestions come by: Primary professions Alchemy - Create a potion/flask/elixer to cure an animal or plant. This task is fairly open to interpretation; be creative! Explain what combination of herbs you used. Blacksmithing - Create a piece of armour or a weapon depicting tribal or personal history. Explain the use of imagery, runes, or what-have-you in making the armour or weapon. Enchanting - Piece together a wand and use it to enchant an item of your chosing. Depending on your style of enchanting, the item can be enchanted for toughness, an increase of speed, or something unusual of your choosing. Explain how you made this happen, and why you chose it. Engineering - Come up with, or recreate a mechanical device that is/could be useful for the tauren people. Explain how this is/could be useful, and explain what you used to create it. Herbalism - Correctly identify and tell us the uses of randomly selected plants from different places across Azeroth. Inscription - Write a rune or scroll that will give a benefit of any form to the Tribe. Explain how it will work, how you made it, and who you made it for. Jewelcrafting - Fashion a necklace or ring from a jewel of your chosing, or, a figurine with a jewel of your chosing. Explain what gems or other material you used and why. Leatherworking - Show us your skill with leather! Create an article of clothing, a tent, or a sheild using the leathers from animals found in Mulgore. Decorate according to how you feel a Tauren would decorate your chosen item, and explain what animal you killed in order to get the leather, what you chose to decorate with, and why you chose the item. Mining - Correctly identify randomly selected bits of ore from around Azeroth, and describe out to properly extract it from veins. Skinning - Demonstrate your skill at cleanly killing an animal and skinning it properly, finishing with a small prayer, thanking the Earthmother. Tailoring - Weave together a quilt or blanket, telling the story of your tribe. Secondary - Optional, however, leveling a secondary means faster ranking. First Aid - Show you know how to roll bandages properly, treat it with anesthetic, and apply it to a minor wound. Fishing - Catch and identify at least two different fish from Stonebull Lake. Archaeology - Set up and take down a set of surveying equiptment, and use it to find an artifact in an area of your choosing. ________________________ Class Rites: These rites ares specific to the class that you play. You will be ask to do one of three different rites depending on your characters class. Paladins and Priest will participate in the Sunwalker Rites. Hunters, Death Knights and Warriors will partake in the Brave Rites and Druids and Shamans will undertake the Rites of the Mistwalker. When you have finished your rites ICly you will come back to the guild website and post your characters' experience on the forums. This can be as long or as short as you wish but get creative and have fun with it. We are not asking that you write a novella but please show us that you have put some time and thought into this process. This posting is mandatory. You will not be promoted unless this step is fulfilled. Rite of the Sunwalker The chosen person will go somewhere of their choosing. Any location within Azeroth. They will be their for the better part of a week. They will aid in anything and everything they can. Using their skills as a Sunwalker to heal, fight, and bring hope. ICly they would be doing everything they can to help. OOCly, they would complete the achievement of doing a certain number of quests in that area. It would still be a week though to match with IC time. The areas they choose may depend on what level the person is. Where they choose could tell us what kind of person they are, ICly or OOCly, depending. During this week, they are to create a story of everything they've done. All the experiences that they've gone through and what they have learned from them. How well they create the story, what they do with it. How they make their character react to things, what it is they do to help will define their character. Give us a better understanding of who they are. When they return after the week or so of being gone, they will give a prayer to An'she. Nothing over the top of course, but something to see how creative and how much effort they put into it. After the prayer, they will relay their account of their journeys to the entire group of Sunwalkers. It doesn't have to be an exceptionally long, no novels. It does, however, have to be something. Like a short story maybe? During this, they are also in their own way giving a lesson, teaching. They will be teaching things they have learned on their journey. This can virtually be anything. Combat, healing, or simply things they have learned from experience. They will answer questions if need be, how this journey has made them grow. After they tell their story and give their lesson, Hakoth/Moca will ask them one last question. "After all of this, what does being a Sunwalker mean to you?" After all of this, we decide. Based on their story what their character has done, who they are. How willing they are to create something like this, the story, the lesson, the prayer, everything. Not on how outstanding it is, (though that is always nice to see), the effort that was put into it all. How they answer everything, how they go about everything. Answer questions, everything. This type of rite could be used by everyone, as it can be quite flexible to anyone. ______________________________ Rite of the Mistwalker Rites In order for a Tribesman to become a Mistwalker they must undergo a Vision Quest. The Vision Quest will take place when we as spiritual pathfinders see your spirit ready for it. The goal is to unlock hidden knowledge within your souls. It shall consist of three parts Seclusion You will venture away from the tribe for two to four days, and be led to a quiet and sacred place. You shall leave everything behind, weapons, armor, and fine clothing. You only take the shirt on your back and a waterskin. Your tribe will provide with you herbs to eat in this sacred place. You must stay there and overcome the urge to leave instead of facing your inner self. You must soothe your mind and survive without embracing insanity. Evaluation Once you overcome this urge, you feel as if you float out of your body softly and majestically. You will then observe your physical features. Every feature will remind you of you past experiences, and of the ancestors before you. You shall meditate on these things until you feel at peace. Perception Your totem will come to you. This may be an animal or element will come to you. For example, if you are strong and enduring with patience, perhaps you will be visited by the Kodo spirit. Perhaps you enjoy quenching and nourishing others. Then you could possibly be visited by the Water Spirit who will guide you. This totem will bond to your spirit. The spirit will talk to you and reveal you the secrets of the Earthmother within. Sometimes, these spirits will lead you to a place away from your meditating grounds, to find a place of great energy. Maybe for some it will be facing old spirits that plagued you in the past and must now overcome. To others it may simply be a place of peace and refuge. Be creative. Whatever the case, the spirit will ALWAYS leave you an item from the sacred area to remind you of your Vision Quest. After this, you must present your tale to the Mistwalkers. Summary of the Vision Quest • Your character will roleplay in one spot for 2-4 days • You will have to choose your spirit totem • You should come back with a story For information on what totems to choose, read these: http://hawktotem.proboards.com/index.cgi....play&thread=806 (Druid or Shaman) http://hawktotem.proboards.com/index.cgi....play&thread=807 (Shaman only) _________________________________ Rite of the Brave The Rite of the Brave is just like the Brave. Strong. Tenacious. The Ability to think on one’s feet. All Braves must show that they are up to the challenge of being a Brave by completing the Rite of the Brave, which consists of three basic parts. The first part of the Rite of the Brave, the Braves, both new and old, will be given a test of strength. These tests of strength are skin to the Brave Circle in Bloodhoof Village; Each Brave will be given a duel against another Brave where they shall test their mettle. At the end of the duel, the winner will receive a reward of some fashion. The second part of the Brave is to show that they can handle a challenge. The Brave will be taken somewhere where their skills of the Hunter, Warrior, or Death Knight shall be put to the test. This test is the most unpredictable, is fluctuates. No two of this part is the same for anyone. The last part of the Rite of the Brave is the most challenging of the three. The Brave-to-be will go off by his or her self. A journey to a foreign area where they must survive in the wild and complete a mission that the Warmaster or the Warmaster’s second-in-command gives them. This can be a broad range of things.
