Something I noticed with photobucket, If your pictures are in an album, If you open the album you get the thumbnails. If you can see all the thumbnails the pictures are still there. If you click on the picture to blow it up to down load it and get that picture from photobucket and not your picture, go back to the thumbnails and copy the picture to another album or make one up such as test. Copy the picture to that album it should show up there and down load it from there. I've had a couple like that that and have been able to retreive them in this way. |

Page ONE of 17...in my garage has repaired photos. This is very time consuming for us disorganized types. PhotoBugout will download entire albums in a zip file but I've still managed jumble them into a labyrinth gauntlet maze. |

Thanks for the continued input, thoughts and findings guys. A few points worth considering from recent posts…. Kev is correct in saying that if you login to your PB account, all photos should still be there. PB has not scrapped accounts or photos. It has removed the ability to link to the photos with PB as the 3rd party host, for some members. That's what causes all the no-shows in our threads. Great tip about moving the images to a new album if they get stuck Kev. Thanks, that’s the kind of info we need. Pete, I considered putting together some how-to posts for using Imgur & Flickr. I held off because I’m not convinced yet that there won’t be some kinda shake up at both hosts as a result of PBs recent bombing. When the dust settles I’ll get instructions up. For now though, both sites work in a reasonably intuitive way and are not unlike the way PB works where linking to images is concerned. Both hosts offer free accounts so if anyone is unsure which way to go, simply open an account at both and run a couple of tests. Upload a few shots and run a test in our Scratchpad thread to see if it’s working correctly. Likewise for any other free image hosts out there. Dan, do you know if PhotoBugout is for Apple devices only? I can’t find a reference for it other than at Apple. Either way it may be a handy tool in the box for some of our guys. Keep it coming gents. Cheers, Michael. |

I've just spent the last few days rebuilding the Fubar Automotive thread using Imgur. The site has worked well all through the process, a few qurks here and there, but for the most part no problems. I had been jumping back and forth from PB to Imgur getting pictures that I thought I still had, but even with that no problem. A couple things that I don't like, one being that Imgur does not retain the orginal photo number in its code. Like I said before, my photos are numbered as they come out of the camera not named so retreveing them in a case such as this would be very difficult. Second, Imgur does not retain orginal file name setting in the albums. Whenever you switch albums, it goes back to time uploaded. So in order to retain your file order, you have to remember to switch it each time you change albums. Not really a problem just something else remember to do. Thirdly, Imgur does not switch pages when you reach the end of the album. When you reach the end it sends you back to the begining or somewhere on that page. You have to go back to the thumbnails and switch pages. If you have albums with 3 or 4 pages in it it can screw up the file order if you are following it. And lastly no download feature. You can create a link but not get the photo, so if you use Imgur you better keep copies somewhere so the photo is not lost. All in all a simple site to use and I will continue to use it even with it's flaws. It works similar to photobucket but without all the extra junk, uploads are quick and seems to work well for what we do. Just my take on it. Kevin |

Here is how I use Flickr: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BzLR42NthGeCYzZ5T0VoQjFNZlk/view?usp=sharing When you post images from Flickr I recommend erasing everything but the BB code, you can use the entire character string that you get from Flicker, but then your e-mail address would be visible. You don't have to download images from Imgur, you can get the file by right clicking on the full sized image and selecting "Save image as". That will put the picture on your computer, but it will have the Imgur file name. You might want to rename the file if you want the name to make sense. You would have to do the pictures one by one. |

Kev, I opened an Imgur account many moons ago to bypass PBs image resolution limit. I only had one image there and had not noticed that it scrambles the file name. Will have to give this some thought as to how it may affect my needs. I’ve always used descriptive and numbered file names where appropriate as a course of habit. This is gonna be a PITA problem as it pertains to linear builds. It seems you either have to upload images in the correct order to begin with or the order is scrambled. I think it’s unlikely that tags & descriptions would be much help but I guess they are an option. Hmmmm…. gonna need to think about this. The only solution I see so far is the ability to rearrange images within an album. When you select an album the option appears from the list on the lower right in that album’s window. I’ve not yet messed with it properly to see how well it works but it would seem our learning curve starts here. Below: The rearrange images option circled in green. Click on an album for this option to appear in that album's window. Posted Image Further snooping around reveals that there are options to download individual images or entire albums. A test download of an entire small album was a simple one step operation and lightning fast. The resulting zip file used the correct album name and curiously (?) placed an incremental number in front of each scrambled file name. The image/album download options are shown below. Below: Download an entire album. You need to be in the album screen for the options gear to appear when you hover over an album. Posted Image Below: Download individual image. Note, in most cases the same can be achieved on Windows systems by right clicking and hitting “save as”. Posted Image Cheers, Michael. Edited by Jisp, Jul 27 2017, 10:27 AM.

Thank you Michael for the info. I had been acessing the albums from the other side and not the side that you showed. Posted Image I was using that because it brings the album up in thumbnails rather than the big pictures and have to scroll thru them all. It's good to find out you can down load if need be. As far as the other stuff, will just have to work around it and find something that works. Thanks again Kevin |
