RichD, welcome to the board mate - very happy to see you here and diving straight in. Thank you. Regarding a document containing all the BB codes for your photos, the same idea occurred to me very recently. Over a period of time I intend to do the same. Thought I might add a column of short, descriptive tags after each entry to make it search-able. I spend far more time just trying to find the pic I need in PB than I ever do copy/pasting the link into a post..... All the best, Michael. |

I use an Excel database and those can be sorted. The first column is the description, the second column is the BB code and the third column is a clickable link to the copy of the picture that is stored on my computer. Photobucket can be balky at times, I have 30 pages of pictures, so it can take a while to find things sometimes. If you are willing to pay you can eliminate the advertising that bogs the site down. |

Excel is exactly what I intend to use.... it's the perfect tool for the job and highly versatile. A few years back I started a spreadsheet recording all of my slot cars details like stock name & number, how and where I got it, price and a few photos. My collection grew faster than I could keep up with and it's now probably 12 months out of date. Hmmmm, it's on my list. Oh, guys, this may seem like a small point but I believe in credit where due. Several posts ago I said I'd contact Poobah to try and figure out the file attachment business. If I scroll back down the posts it now looks to me like I waved a magic wand and PP fixed the problem........ not the case at all! Credit where due - as I wandered down the corridor trying to find his office I got side tracked by the chocolate vending machine. You should see the selection! I digress........ by the time I finally made my way to our fearless leader's door he had already assessed the problem, corrected the problem and posted it. I was still trying to wipe chocolate off my chin and grubby fingers. Get to the point I hear you say..... The point is this. It's important to acknowledge that Poobah always has his finger on the pulse whether we are aware of it or not. While we make our grotty finger chocolate stops, beer stops and the like, behind the scenes and whisper quiet is Dennis keeping things running like a well oiled machine. Tip of the hat to you Poobah, thank you. Cheers, Michael. |

Here is a vote for PicasaWeb from Google. Easy to use simply right click any image for the url and paste. I do have to manually upload pictures I want to share, I think I could upload all but that would max out whatever the free storage limit is. No ads in PicasaWeb. It does have a bit of a learning curve but now I have it setup it works fine. EDIT 12/29/2016: They have moved from Picasa to Google Photos. Seems to work fine Edited by Tom aka bobwoodly, Dec 29 2016, 09:15 AM.

Recently Photobucked changed its site, so I have done an updated article on posting pictures using that site. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BzLR42NthGeCWVhTMzJKbXRuLVE/view?usp=sharing |

Hi all. Occasionally I have the need to use a free 3rd party image host for vary large image files. PB has an image resolution limit of 1024 pixels. My previous solution for images above 1024 px was DropBox but they have now changed their storage method to avoid hot-linking. Fair enough but I can no longer directly link to large images in order to have them displayed on member's screens. Does anyone know of a reliable and hopefully long term free image host for large resolution images. A direct address for the stored images needs to be available. Thanks for any input, Michael. |

Thanks for the suggestion Rich, I hadn't thought of Flickr. In the end I opened an Imagur account. Looks like it will do what I need but time will tell I guess. Cheers, Michael. |

I hope that works out for you. Photohosting sites can come and go, you might save yourself some grief if you maintain a data base that includes all of the pictures that you have posted with links to their location on the hosting site and their location on your computer. A few people have foolishly only stored their pictures on a hosting site without backing them up elsewhere. Besides always keeping both the original and edited versions of my pictures on my computer I also back them up to an external hard drive. |
