commentary from a news source.
makes the whole thing more simplified and easier to comprehend, but not any easier to accept.

They used to send me a couple of emails a week with some kind of deal they had going. That stopped a couple of months ago. The last email I received from them was a suggestion to update my password about a month ago.

For $400 a year you could have your own website! A few years back HOCOC had a website that cost about $200 a year, but you had to have some experience to use it. I do know someone with a website, I will have to ask how much it costs and how easy it is to use it.
Starting today I will avoid putting new pictures on Photobucket. The pictures that I have on my computer are organized by subject, so finding a particular one is usually not difficult. I have also considered duplicating my Photobucket pictures on another site, that would take some effort and I am hoping that Photobucket will offer third party linking at a more reasonable price.

Agreed Rich. It'll be most entertaining if PB decides to come to it's senses. Seeing where they may actually settle would be instructive indeed.

All my pics are on disk. Not real well organized LOL, but available for use.

I have visited both Imgur and Flickr.... and created an ID for both. Dabbled around with both. Honestly? Can't say I'd like to use either. As it stood, PB sucked donkey balls. (slow pos)... These 2 rank a tad below that. I'm sure they are somebody's pride and joy, but comprehensive and clean they are not. There has to be something else and someday I'll find it. In the meantime I'll save everything to disks or thumbdrives. My own fault for trusting ANY media company. I should have known better... I was downsized by one... lol.

Everyone, I own several domain names. I will look into setting up a website of our own. If it does not cost too dang much, I will do it. I have about had it with photo hosting sites, going back to the last one that folded over ten years ago, in which I lost all my photo's.

Everyone, I have a place that will allow photo hosting for a yearly price. It is not terribly unreasonable. They will also host the site and allow multiple accounts, all accessible via an email address and a password. It is Cheveeto.com. Go in there and take a look at the demo website and give me some feedback. There will be a cost that I will pass on to the members. I do not know exactly what that would be as ye. I am waiting to hear back from them..................

Posting pictures using Flickr is not as easy as it was using Photobucket. Here is the procedure that I use: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BzLR42NthGeCYzZ5T0VoQjFNZlk/view?usp=sharing
Once you have done this a few times it is quite easy. I edit the character string so my e-mail address does not show in my posts.
Years ago I paid a modest fee to use a formerly free hosting site. About a month later the site went dead, so it would not be wise to pay a lot. You might also want to avoid sites that use an auto renewal, they might continue to take your money after they have closed down.
