I switched to Flickr a couple of months ago when PhotoSucket became squirrelly and slow.
No problems so far with hosting and editing.
Youtube seems to be a good choice for video.

I tried for two days to download albums, no success. I was able to download individual photos. I downloaded everything I could that was important to me. One problem, a lot of sites won't let you edit old posts, so a lot was lost even though you still have the pics. IMHO I think that this is the beginning of the end for FREE image hosting, anywhere. I deleted all my photos and my account. It says "My account will be deleted on 07/05/2017....It's still there today. Also says That I'm using 19% of storage....there are no pics there.

There are over 100,000,000+ PB accounts. Even if 99% decided to leave. That would still be 1,000,000+ members (1%) that would pay the $399. That would be $399,000,000+...That would be considered a very successful business......I think a 1% estimate is low....That's why I'm guessing that this is the beginning of the end for free image hosting.

I had the same thought as sweet did, they only need a small percentage of users to pay up to make a lot of money. However some of us might remember the old story about the goose that laid the golden eggs. Rather than wait for the goose to lay more eggs the farmer killed the goose. That got him several eggs quickly, but of course there were no more eggs in the future. As soon as Photobucket gets their windfall the might decide to pack it in, they are not likely to get many new users for what they are charging.

Rich, I agree with you....My contention is, if PB shows ANY type of financial success, other image hosting sites MIGHT consider charging money. Certainly not $399, but more along the lines of $100-200 or so. I don't think we realized just how much of the internet that an image hosting site controlled. My other hobby is building custom bikes and scooters. Build threads and tutorials that I've done over the last ten years are now all "picture less". A number of sites out there, don't allow older threads to be edited. So even if you have or kept all the photos, they can't be added back in. I'm upset with myself (not PB), for depending on a FREE service, for something that was so important to me.

I do tutorials using Word and also save the documents, which usually include photos, graphics and clickable links, as PDFs. I can either e-mail the PDF to any interested party or provide a link to Google Drive.

And that would be the difference between you and I....You were much smarter than I was.....I was asleep at the wheel, and never saw the crash coming.

You weren't the only one asleep at the wheel Sweet. It was a nice sunny day, good road conditions, had the cruise control set.....

I'm trying to get all my files out of PB at the moment.
