I've got thousands of dead pix, in hundreds of posts, all across the planet. I doubt I'll go back and hunt and peck them back together.

I was thinking about that issue myself. If I understand it correctly my pictures will go dead at the end of next year if I don't pay up. I doubt that many people view old posts, so editing those to replace the pictures would probably be a waste of time. I expect to edit a few of my most recent posts however. If there are any pictures posted by other people that you are especially fond of you could copy them to your computer before they disappear.

Silly me, I assembled/organized a fair amount of build albums over the years, from an overall cache of thousands. Im working on downloading them back to my computer. Tediously hunt and peckish, but I figure it's worth salvaging the original effort and maintaining the continuity. The upshot is that seeing as how photo bucket blew us all up, I can edit/modify the albums without blowing up existing links ... cuz there aint none!

At this point I only have one caution. Be sure to rename the new zip file thumbnails, as they wont reflect the PB album name until you open them. Ill report back as I chug along.

For those using Imgur, I like to keep my images in order as I take them on builds.
If you upload your images into albums it will keep them together, however not always in
order.

If you click on the tab with your name bring up images. On the right there is a tab
that says all images. Click on that and it will bring up all your albums.

Click on the album you want and it will bring up all the images in that album.

Click on the small image you want and it will bring up a larger image with all the tags on
the side for posting.

Just like photobucket did and you won't have to hunt and peck for the image you want
in all images.
Just make sure the arrows to scroll thru the album are on the picture and not over by the tags
or it won't copy. Just a small clich I had happen.
Perhaps some of you already knew this, if not hope it helped.

I hear they are considering a name change over at PhotoBucket, in order to better communicate with their long-time users and paid subscribers. The new name is shorter, and easier to remember. As long as you spell it right!

Haven't had time to fiddle with Photosucket... Question: Will it let you grab an entire album at a time and copy it to a disk?

On another BB someone reported that he tried to copy an album, but that did not work. He ended up copying his pictures one by one.

I tried for a few days with no success to download albums. I ended up downloading hundreds of pics individually. Some people that could download albums, said their pics were smaller than original, and it took forever to download. I cancelled my account on 7/3. It said my account will be deleted on 7/5.....It was just deleted on 7/17. The way I look at it: I used to have Free Photobucket...Now I'm Photobucket FREE. I currently have not picked another image hosting site.....I might be a little camera shy! -_-

I fingered it out. I've been down loading my PB albums onto my computer. A few every night, rather than slogging through a marathon

Pull up the album.

Look over on the right hand middle of the album page.

Select "download"

PB will create the file and notify when ready. You can stay on the page or navigate away. They will email you one way or the other.

You'll get a page with the blue download box. Select it.

Once downloaded to your computer it will appear as a zip file.

Be sure to check verify/identify the file and name it if the title appears as gibberish. Otherwise you wont know what it is without opening it. (assuming you have a lot of filed albums like I do)

Once named, open the file, select "extract" files to decompress the zip.

******

A monkey can do it, obviously cuz I did, LOL.

It's a bit "click-ish". The only real annoying part is the "I am not a robot" portion of the sequence; that you will encounter ever time you request a down load.

Not sure where I'll go with it now, but the upshot is that we can retrieve our albums. Im relieved to be able to access my slot car archives with relative ease.
