ANZAC Day - Lest We Forget; A day to remember brave men.

Today marks perhaps the most important day on Australian & New Zealand calendars. April 25, 2015 is the 100th anniversary of the landing of the Australian & New Zealand Army Corps, ANZAC, landing at the Gallipoli Peninsula during WW1. Over 11,000 Kiwi and Aussie brothers lost their lives at Gallipoli. We shall remember.

Ode of Remembrance.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

Lest we forget.

2016 marks the 101st anniversary of the Kiwi & Aussie brothers and sisters who lost their lives on the Gallipoli Peninsula during WW1. The spirit and memory of the Australian & New Zealand Army Corps ANZACs is strong, we shall remember.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

Note : Each year we attend the ANZAC Day dawn service here at our local RSL branch. I checked the weather forecast last night and it suggested the weather would he a little cold with very heavy rain. After telling my two daughters this I casually asked if they were ok with that. My eldest daughter gave me a level stare as she said "Of course, why wouldn't we be. The soldiers didn't get to pick when they fought because of bad weather". Well before dawn this morning they both got themselves out of bed and rugged up before heading to the car with my wife and I. The weather was every bit as bad as forecast yet the turnout at the service was as strong as ever. There were a huge number of kids, especially very young ones. Not once did I see a kid messing around or acting in any way other than with due respect nor did I ever hear anyone grumble about the weather.

It's reassuring as part of a generation that won't be around forever to know that we are adequately passing on such an important message and tradition. Thank you.
