Dan, The plan on the El Camino is to strip and re-paint it. Am thinking a silver base coat with Transparent Orange over that. Then after forgetting about it for a while to let the paint dry....Flame masking and shooting Candy Red over that. This will leave Transparent Orange flames. Also will be masking off the roof. Will keep posting up pictures of my Dads collection. It will take a long time before I run out of 1/24th scale and other scale models. The fun is just starting. Then....go from there...zilla With Slotto and I posting up 1/24th Models.......maybe...just MAYBE????? others across the WORLD will join in and make The Slot Lodge a car model safe haven also. As with Die-caster customizers we can all enjoy each others love for customizing and/or building stock looking scaled models. If you are enjoying the images you are seeing here and have models of your own to share...POST THEM UP HERE in your own Model Garage!!! Bob...Pictures are great & more pictures are better...zilla Edited by Bob...zilla, Feb 19 2017, 12:27 PM.

Bob, I think the 'Camino is awesome just the way it is. Shows it's age, character, and what it's been through. ---spoken like a coin collector, true--- My few 1/24th models are long lost in storage boxes...somewhere. Had the original Aurora Frankenstein & Dracula also which I haven't seen for 200 years or so. Dan |

That 68 Willys was my favorite, until I saw the gold one on trailer. Looks like your Dad had a good eye and steady hand. Awesome work. |

Dan, Oooooooooooooh to late. I collect coins in my pocket and then Spend them. Hahahahahahahahaaaa Sorry to hear about your lost Aurora Frankenstein & Dracula models. Those are Cool models. Thanks everyone on your comments on my Dads model builds. He is smiling down & watching this showing of his cars I am sure. As long as he can see through all those clouds that is. Posted Image The fender skirts will be going back on. Just came loose during the scrub & will need to use a little green squadron putty to make things right. Posted Image One of my Dads models. A 60 El Camino that had some dirt on it and the paint didn't handle the scrubbing very well. Posted Image Posted Image I know my Dad would be O.K. with me re-doing this El Camino. It was a home to mice and mold in the box it was stored in. Most of the boxes in my Dads garages (stored for many, many years) incredibly did not have a Mouse visits but, some did. Still don't know the name of this model maker company but, it does say MADE IN USA on chassis. The bumpers were left off of this El Camino and then mounts got filled in. I gotta do that on some older slot car builds myself. Found this shorty (My Dad liked to cut and paste in the real world) to go in front of the trailered gold Willys. Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image Bob...Going to need more display cases someday...zilla Edited by Bob...zilla, Feb 21 2017, 11:33 PM.

Love love love the short bus! I've found that easy off oven cleaner is the best paint removal. Make sure you wear your big yellow playtex kitchen cleaning gloves and wash the body with warm soapy water. Perfect results every time. |
