Won the League One title in his first season. Led us to fifth on our return to the Championship. Came back - weeded out (most of) the deadwood, got us playing better football, create lots of chances almost every game, tightened us up at the back and and has us fifth after almost half this season. Has his faults, like all managers, but does he deserve more credit than he generally gets on messageboards? |

At some point it would be nice to have time to revisit the stats in the following link: Without wishing to promote a rival messageboard, I had a lot of fun with my 1 & only nifty on there (that is until this week): Linky thing Its easy to get caught up in recent results & how far off the top 2 we are, but taking the same step back & taking the emotion out of the analysis, our return this season of 1.76 points compares favourably to anything at this level since the Mickey promotion season. Would be interesting to see the wage bill at the start of last season compared to the wage bill now.... |

He's too slow to react when opposition managers make changes. (Classic example: The Derby game) He seems poor at motivating players; especially for the so-called "easier" games. A sign of this is the inconsistancy of the team - his job is to get the best out of them, every time. He's poor at handling "prima donnas" (If we do get promoted, then - by necessity - he'll need a squad full of 'em) |

For me, the best way to judge a manager is the question "who would we get in instead?" The best for getting out of this division, I would probably say would be Mick McCarthy & Neil Warnock. (Thanks, but no thanks) And after that, you are either taking a punt on a big name who has got sacked or taking a punt on an up & coming manager. With the upheaval of changing playing staff & changing tactics thrown in, it is a gamble not worth taking & one we have made too many times since Premier League relegation with the inevitable consequences. That's not to deny that Pearson has his faults, but you've got to look at the overall package & on balance, to have the team challenging for automatic promotion is a pretty impressive achievement if recent history is anything to go by. |

| I think your stats speak for themselves Cambridge, and the Thais have learnt that stability is the key. They've tried throwing money at it and it didn't work. |

1. Derby had a good spell in the game, as sides often do, and Pearson sent on Nugent and Marshall on 66 - Marshall set up one and Nugent scored two. 2-1 down against Barnsley and he sent on Vardy who scored. 2. I'm not sure he is poor at motivating players. Sometimes the opposition - and sometimes weaker opposition - can outdo you. (Bradford-Arsenal, Norwich-ManU of late for instance). Show me a promotion chasing team who isn't inconsistent in the Championship? Cardiff and Palace apart. It's a tight division. 3. On the contrary, I think he's good at handling prima donnas. He's no nonsense and doesn't mess about. Can't think of too many prima donnas when MON gave us four top ten finishes. I'm playing devil's advocate largely here mate |

| He probally doesn't get the credit due but He is a funny bugger and easy to dislike. One of his assets is that He's stubborn but its also one of his faults. No ones perfect and if He gets us promoted He will get plenty of credit don't worry . |

That rather proves my point, I think. We were all over Derby for the 1st 25 minutes or so. Absolutely brilliant, we were!! They made some changes, and it took until the 66th minute for him to react - 40 minutes or so later - when everybody in the ground knew he needed to make changes at half time. |

Maybe it does, maybe it doesn't. Just because the opposition have a good period against you in a game I don't think you always have to alter that much. We dominated the first 30 and last 30 and they had the middle 30. And we won 4-1. I think it's a touch over critical in that particular circumstance. |

| He took some criticism at the time for not making that change sooner. Not sure about Marshall, but Nugent was still trying to make it back from his neck injury... If Nigel didn't think he would last more than 25 minutes, that was likely the reason for the timing of the change. He would probably have loved to have brought him on at half time, but his hand may have been tied by the medical advice? |

I think we sometimes need to change our game, especially away from home. We can all see we're not a physical side but in some games you have to at least match the team in front of you. Fight for the ball. Sometimes even knock some long balls up the pitch. We never seem to do that. Leeds this season was a prime example. I fully expect today to be similar. Everyone can beat everyone on their day in this league, we all know that. Nobody has really turned us over this season, our defence is pretty good and we're creating a hatful of chances every game. I just wish we could score just a few more per game. |

| NFP is a miserable coont. But he's our miserable coont. He's doing a better job than I expected this season, so credit where it's due. Now if you can just get us to beat the Wall Nige, I'll love you forever. |
