OK, we won. That's what matters most of all. Thing is, we made such heavy weather of it against a team 19th in the league, looking over their shoulder at the relegation zone. I don't understand Pearsons substitutions as well. Vardy came on and went up as a third striker. At one point, you could see Woods, Nugent and Vardy in a perfect line right in front of me. Why? Why play 4-3-3 when you're 2-1 up and not chasing the game? If the intention was indeed to play Vardy in midfield, why not put on a midfielder instead? If we didn't have one to put on, then why didn't we sign one yesterday??? Yes, I know folk are going to go "Five league wins in a row!", but I'm still not convinced yet. The quality of the football we're seeing is still inconsistent. Yes, we've gone unbeaten in eight games but six of those games were against teams in the bottom half of the table, or in a lower league altogether! So what do I want? I want us to look more "classy"; to win games with the kind of style our size and budget should get us. Grinding out a result if perfectly acceptible occasionally, but for we're having to do that much more often than a "classy win". If we took this current squad up to the Premiership, then it's going to be embarassing to say the least!. Three, perhaps four players might have sufficent quality to keep us up which means major investment would be needed which means a lot of time spent trying to get the players to gel. By the time that happened, would we be already relegated?? I need more coffee.....! |

Why can't we play like Barcelona every week?!?!?! We're known to struggle against "lower" opposition but recent results suggest that might be turning. And let's not forget we beat Middlesbrough and drew at Hull, both promotion rivals. I have reservations about the manager and certain players but overall it feels wrong to grumble too much, especially when most people thought we'd do well to make the top six this season. |

True, but how boring would a messageboard be if everyone agreed with each other all the time!! :-D |

| You are correct FD. What I like about this place is that people seem to have respect for other opinions even if they're polar opposite. And those opinions are generally expressed in a pretty measured way. |

I think a valid concern is the paucity of quality in our squad. I'd also say that our ability to adapt to 5 in midfield 'may' be a problem against superior opposition. As it is its worth remembering that although that Wolves squad are languishing in the league many of them have experience at a higher level. We won. We weren't great but then we've been great and lost previously so let's see the result in context. |

I think one of Pearson's greatest failings is his apparent inability to think on his feet and adapt if things are not going according to plan. But it is good to know that we can grind out a result when we are not at our best, which we could never do under Sven. It's also good that we have players of the obvious quality of Nugent, Knockaert and Wood who know how to put away the chances and create their own. |

I think we had a very good first half, but found it tough against a big team at times. Happy with the substitution, I think Vardy would have got stuck in more than most tracking back. My concern is the depth. I think it was clear we were not making inroads, but decided to stick with the front two as they could create a moment of magic whereas Waghorn and Futacs wouldn't be able too. I don't think we signed anyone as there isn't anymore money, it's as simple as that. We are making massive losses and it isn't a bottomless pit. Good result from not playing great. Potential injuries could derail us. |

I think the depth is a budget issue. We've had to work hard to remove Danns and Beckford, however they are off the books temporarily only and therefore cannot be replaced with permanent signings but loan signings. We've recruited Keane but Lindegard didn't work out so we're still looking for that fix. |

The loan window opens next week so we might get one or two more bodies in which would be useful. The absence of Schlupp does baffle me. I know he's been training with ManU but I'd have him on the bench. |

And for my ten penneth...I dont get the Andy King show. I thought he was very weak last night. He leaves all the battling to Drinky who then looks out of sorts as he has no help...He rarely tackles or heads the ball.....now for me he plays better when hes just in behind the front two but playing both Knocky and Marshall means he cant... Overall though they put in a shift especially at the back and we came away with three points...the squad needs refreshing but we do have Whitbread SSL and James to come back.. |

| King's better, as you say, when pushing forward so he's playing a different role this season, a more defensive one. |

I think they looked good for a lot of last night - the game plan seems to be an open game creating lots of half chances but giving up a few breaks the other way. With the finishing ability of Wood, Nugent, Marshall & Knockheart, that risky style has resulted in one of the best home records in the country, so is working well. The time it didn't work so well seemed to be trying to defend a 1 goal lead... which was not different to the Boro game! Overall, we had enough good openings to win well had some of them dropped in, and if another 1 or 2 had gone in, it would have been a completely different game. The last 10-15 mins live in the memory of a game like that, but with a day's distance reflecting on the whole 90 mins, we were the better side & deserved to win & a job well done ahead of the weekend fixtures. |

Wolves are a strong unit. Yes they're down towards the bottom but at times when we were going forwards all I saw was a box of old gold shirts and very little blue, yet still we managed to score 3 goals and win the game. In years gone by, and recent ones at that, we would have drawn the game or even lost 1-0. We certainly wouldn't have scored our first goal as Knockaert just ran through about 4 of their players. I've said the Huddersfield game showed us we have very little strength in depth but until we get the likes of Wellens, Gallagher, Beckford, Danns off our books, I fear we have very little cash in the pot. Do I think we'll sign someone in the loan window? Only if someone becomes available that Pearson and his back room team think will add to the team, or if someone picks up a long term injury. |

A relatively troll-free messageboard with no nastiness - just good old fashioned football, fun and fairness. The way it should be IMHO. |
