Anyone else watching the superbowl tonight??? Usually I watch the first half then speed through the rest in about half an hour the next morning, but with the 49ers making it, can't miss it tonight! I've even dug out the signature I was working on for the old site before it shut down for the occassion! Go Niners!

I usually get to half time, remember I have work and like you sky+ and ffwd. One of the best programmes on telly is America's Game on Sky Sports. Wish we had an English equivalent of NFL films |

| Its very simple. Get the ball in the end zone by any means you can. You get three goes at moving 10 yards, if you don't it's the oppos turn. Thats it basically. |

RL never made you go & report on the Leicester Panthers then??? I did used to enjoy going & watching them at Saffron Lane, but can't ever remember RL talking about them in the way they do about the Riders. |

| It's easy enough to get confused between the NFL & the CFL! |

| My best mate has played for a few sides and he's tried to explain it to me but it just washes over my head. |

Its a great sport. I played for Wolverhampton Vipers and the Birmingham Bulls 1999-2001 just kept picking up injuries that affected work. Played once at the Saffo..North v South. brought a tear to my eye as I used to go to the velodrome as a kid. Watched all the superbowls from 1984-2002 but recently with work and kids its a record it and watch it later.... Hope a 49er win...remember Montana and Rice in the 80's.. Marv Levy in charge of the Bills...play off great quote "Where else would you rather be than right here, right now?" awesome |

Always fancied myself as a wide receiever, but never got the chance to play... which was probably just as well as I'd have been crushed! Was a huge fan of the sport from 1991 to 1996 (was a Houston Oilers fan!) - which was the time I watched the Panthers, so I remember the Birmingham Bulls but not the Vipers. Then stopped following it until 2007 when I got back into it (by which time the Oilers didn't exist & the 49ers were sufficiently crap for me to support them!) What position did you play? |

Remember the Saff & The Panthers, must be late 80s. They didn't explain the violations as well as in the NFL, flags all over the place and it was unusual for either side to be able to complete 4 plays. A bit confusing but a summer game if memory serves me. The Dolphins and Marino did it for me. Tuning in to American forces Radio on my Hi-Fi in Wigston on Saturday & Sunday nights with reception going in & out, & catching up on C4 tv. Never managed to catch the end of a super bowl yet. |

Armed Forces Radio phasing in and out... that brings back memories! I'd forgotten how painful that was... but I'd be listening to it every Sunday right up until the legal notification stuff at the end. Technology has moved on so much, but its not so different to trying to find a dodgy feed on the interenet that keeps phasing in and out! |

Watched the first quarter then to bed....sounds like it was a good match up... I played defensive end (badly!!) and linebacker...(worse!!) gave up when my son was born after travelling to london to play the mets only to get there and they cancelled as they hadnt an ambulance....added to a couple of painful injuries and i'd had enough...i really was too old for it... |
