Spoilers, viewers discretion is advised.

So, ORAS has been out for more than a month now, and there's been enough time to learn most of what the game has. In this time, I've found several things that I've liked and disliked about the game, and I know others have too. So in this thread, we can point out what we like and dislike and discuss if we want.

Likes:

  • I loved the Delta episode most of all in this game. It was one of the best post games Pokemon has ever had, and I feel it could have been its own game if given enough length.
  • Zinnia  I loved Zinnia, and she made for an awesome antagonist which I hope to see in future games, as she was funny yet smart.
  • Along with the first two, I loved the lore in the game and how it tied everything together with X/Y and what the previous five gens were. It seems Game Freak is really starting to get into the Lore to try and make a continuous story that makes sense.
  • Music. The soundtrack in the game was great, and I liked how they just improved older songs from the original, as well as added several new ones like Wally and Zinnia's theme, both of which were great.
  • Likeness to the old games. The game was definitely a remake, with the landscape and trainers all being the same, as well as the story, but yet, there were also some changes, like with Mauville. At first, I was disappointed with how close it was to the old, but then I remembered it was a remake, and they did a good job with that.
  • The daycare at battle mansion is great, as it's by the IV checker, and there's a continuous loop as well, making breeding much easier than it has been in the past.
  • Organize Boxes is the first option in the PC. THIS WAS SO AWESOME. But seriously, I like never used deposit, and never ever used withdraw, so why were they ever first for so long?
  • Secret bases are back, and they are even better with the Streetpass functionality, making it easier to acquire many more bases than before.
  • Sharpedo while surfing and diving was a really cool feature

I'm sure I forgot some, but hopefully you guys will remind me in your own posts. But now, we go on to the dislikes...

Dislikes

  • The Hax. Oh the hax. This game had more hax than any game I ever remember, with Teams Haxma and Haxqua spamming swagger, confuse ray, and other annoying rng moves that were prevalent elsewhere as well. It made the game less enjoyable during those spots.
  • How you got the Latis. I was extremely disappointed with how you obtained them, as it felt like I didn't even deserve them, they were just handed away. I know a lot of people disliked the old roaming legends, I liked them though, but they shouldn't have made it a freebie. I'd rather have had a battle with the lati to get it after the other fights.
  • Battle Frontier, where were you?! I was really looking forward to all the fun old minigames to be updated and brought back, but we were left with Battle Maison... which if I wanted that, I'd have gone back to X/Y for. Battle Tower itself is practically the Battle Maison, but Battle Maison could have even been it's own facility.
  • Battle Resort music change not being permanent. This is really annoying, and may even be a bug, but when you change the music, it stays for a while before it changes back to the default. I'd rather listen to Wally's theme while running around.
  • Gym leader rematches. Where were they?
  • Money making being difficult. Perhaps I'm just spoiled and fat from Le Wow, but making money is difficult, and the food court/E4 are the same for making money, and both are fairly slow at that.
  • Shiny Beldum. Thanks for the free handout, but really? Poor people who spent weeks breeding one...
  • Kyogre while diving. A minor complaint, but he's so fat 0.0 Realistic, but he couldn't fit in some places, lol.
  • Tate and Liz. That gym leader match was extremely disappointing. 2 pokemon in a double battle? Shortest gym match I've ever had.
  • QR codes for Bases is neat and all, but having to send them out to everyone each time you update your base for them to have the most recent base is kinda lame. You'd think streetpass or something could keep that updated.
  • Wifi battling still has that same old battle background, not using any of the amazing new ones they made for the story. A lot of lost potential right there.

That's all that I can think of for those as well, though I'm surprised if you've read this far, lol. So what were your likes and dislikes?

Likes:

  • Soaring. No more need for the PC every single first town lacks to Fly out of your home town. Also kind of a neat addition to the game even if it is slower than flying.
  • Hidden Ability and Egg Moves right out of the wild
  • Delta Episode
  • The credits which graciously praised Breloominati for every major event in the game.
  • Secret Base hunting. With the BuzzNav, you can collect 20-30 secret bases every 8-10 hours. Find them, gather their flags, and add them as pals so they can give you even more flags.
  • The Contest Master animation when I send Keeth out. It is annoying and takes forever to unlock it, but the animation makes it worth.
  • Every Mega Evolution stone being available in a single game.
  • Being able to catch every Pokemon (including the legends) in just XYORAS, because fuck gen 5. On that note, the legends being available through those convenient little islands.

Dislikes:

  • Being gridlocked. Mario 64 and Ocarina of Time aren't stuck on a grid and they use a fraction of the size of a 3DS cart's available resources. Pokemon is hardly any bigger- if it is at all. Being stuck on the grid caused a lot of movement trouble (such as in Mauville trying to walk up to a stand or in Lumiose trying to get around without a bike or skates). Speaking of Lumiose, it already did feature a third-person camera that followed the character from behind and everything- so clearly Pokemon is capable of using 3D properly.
  • Forced legend catches (or worse, simply being given the legend).
  • Mirage Spots you can't save in front of. Dialga/Palkia/Giratina and Tornadus/Thundurus/Landorus, I'm looking at you.
  • Needing Gold rank to unlock Garchompite. Needing to beat the child-whore in a contest to unlock Lucarionite (which wasn't hard to do but it took forever to beat all of the contests).

Apparently the Gym Leader rematches were just kind of rare things in RS (made easier in Emerald). If it's anything like RS this time around, the gym leaders could simply be really rare rematches. It should say Battle on their labels if they want a rematch, but no one has seen this.

1. It feels like a cop out, but soaring really is one of the things I like most about these games. It eliminates the need for a Fly user on your team (and that's something that always kind of dragged me down in the older games when I just wanted to catch interesting things to use) and it makes accessing all the legends in the game, well, possible. And I have to say that since Latios is my favourite of the two Eon Twins, I had a moment of extreme happiness when I first soared on it.

2. Delta Episode. For anyone that's played it, do I really have to explain this?

3. The Battle Resort. Okay, I know everyone and their mothers wanted the Battle Frontier, and I can agree that I would've liked to see it as well, but I can't complain about the Battle Resort as a whole. A day care next to an iv checker with the environment set up so that in a certain spot you can just hold up on the D-pad and you endlessly loop (go look it up on youtube if you want to know how), the move tutors making a return, and the little battles scattered around the island that you can use to make some quick money with the Amulet Coin (I know it isn't a ton but it gets you by). The ability to change the music there is also nice, as Wally's theme is probably my favourite to listen to on repeat.

4. The music. While I don't tend to play with my ds' volume on, I still vastly appreciate the music in these games. Remixes of old themes and the addition of a few others really made it feel as though Game Freak put a lot of effort into making it feel new and nostalgic at the same time.

5. The region. I've got to say, I'm a sucker for Hoenn as a region. It was the region where I really got into Pokemon and is home to some of my favourite legendary Pokemon, and if you know me you know which ones. While it sticks to the original Ruby and Sapphire on many accounts there are also the Mirage Spots and some tweaks here and there that make it feel like, once again, Game Freak took the time and effort to make these games hit the nostalgia factor but still feel a bit fresh after we all grinded away at X and Y for a year (well, at least I did... played through X like ten times).

6. The new Megas. This is one that I feel like a lot of people were happy for. As I said before, X and Y were grinded away at for an entire year and during that time it got a bit... well, stale. At least for me. The Mega selection in particular felt so small and a tiny bit bland that when I finally got my hands on these games I couldn't wait to see some of the new Megas (Sceptile, Gallade, and Rayquaza among the top of that list).

7. The Pokenav Plus. This, Thing. Is. Amazing. All of the features from X and Y return plus with the Dexnav finding Pokemon that you might want, or even chaining for wild shinies if anyone even cares about that anymore, is easier than ever.

8. All of the legends. All of them.

9. Okay, moving past the more game play oriented aspects of my likes (I love these games if you can't tell) the characters felt really fleshed out and cared for... okay, the main ones anyway. The familiar faces felt fresh despite having seen them before, mainly due to the updated graphics that allow for body language, facial expressions, etc. I really love Zinnia, refer to Frost's reasons for why, and even characters like Wally and May (or Brendan if you're playing a female) seemed as though they took on a new life. And, I have to say, Steven is just cool. I really don't care what anyone says, he's my favourite Champion.

Dislikes:

1. The game's difficulty. This one is probably a low point for a lot of people. From easy trainer battles to easy gym leaders, these games hold none of the difficulty that Ruby and Sapphire managed to bring. Maybe that's just because everyone that originally played generation 3 is older now along with the games being a bit easier, but anyone that's played them can admit they're not exceedingly difficult.

2. Lack of post game content. Now, this somewhat clashes with my Battle Resort defense, but there are a lot of reasons for this dislike. It isn't as bad as X and Y, which just had no 'post-game' at all besides capturing two legends and the Looker side-quest. But in ORAS, despite the massive amounts of legends you can catch and of course the Delta Episode (which I still consider part of the 'main game' in the sense that it's not optional) there's not much to do. Sure, contests are there but past that I can't find a thing to do. Maybe I'm just a bit bitter from X and Y's desert-wasteland type of deal with the post-game content, or maybe I'm just not creative enough to see anything else to do, but I don't see that much in the post-game.

3. Gym Leader rematches. This is something I was looking forward to. Especially with my Mega Rayquaza that I went through the end of the Delta Episode like five times to get with competitive ivs. But I haven't seen them pop up on the Areanav's trainer feature once, and I've got nearly 200 hours logged into this game already (I've only had it for a month, so that's probably, well, most of that month). Just a little disappointed I can't go and rematch them.

4. Version exclusive legends. This is a personal gripe of mine. I absolutely DESPISE the version exclusivity of certain legendary Pokemon. Not only is it frustrating because it limits the possibilities on teams you can make with those Pokemon (I know that Dialga/Palkia aren't used much and Ho-Oh/Lugia are kind of useless without their HA, but still there is an Ubers tier now), it also makes getting them for your Pokedex a bit of a pain, especially if you're not one of those people that just went all rush mode to completing it in X and Y. Plus it makes getting two of the trio leaders impossible without either banking over the other legend or getting it from someone else, which I shouldn't have to do if I want to catch a legendary.

5. Hax. If you've already read Frost's post or even played the games, I shouldn't have to explain this.

1. Music: What can i say i love pokemon music and ORAS had some of the greatest soundtracks yet. I never get tired of the music and wally
battle theme really surprised me in a very good way.

2.Soaring: This was just really cool. It was a great new feature to keep the game fresh and i loved the ability to just fly without having fly in my team and the region looks so amazing from above. Also love the above flying random battles which are awesome too!

3.Pokemon: Okay okay i know not fair but gen 3 pokemon are really just my favorite in deisgn. They're just really awesome and i have to love the starter pokemon too best starters ever, not to mention just how awesome the legendary events are they're just great.

4.Delta Episode: Just amazing. This was so fun and i loved battling deoxys even though it took me a while to get both rayquaza and deoxys in pokeballs i've had alot of fun doing it and zinnia was an awesome character to introduce on who i wish they will expand.

5.Daycare: Now admitidly i haven't tried it yet as my stuff is on XY but making you able to just hold the up button and having the IV calculator just next door? Sign me up.

6.Original: I like how much they kept to the original games the nostalgia was amazing and i felt 10 again haha.

7.The Intro: The Intro was so fun, they started it out with more nostalgia by brining back the old games screen and then just showed us a 3d version Of that into which to me was amazing especially that raindrop falling from that leaf into that puddle.

8.Sneaking: This was an awesome new mechanic to the game and a new way to chain for pokemon. I've always wondered why we had pokedexs but could never check out the pokemon we're battling and while it wasn't exactly as i wanted its pretty close so i'm counting it as a win.

9.Oraganise Boxes: Much easy, very love.

10:Dive: I've loved dive ever since i even thought i could do it in a pokemon game which was in pokemon crystal while getting dratini i was like i wish i could dive under the whirlpool yes i was a kid i thought i could dive under a whirlpool....

Dislikes.

1.Battle Frontier: I didn't like the battle frontier because there is NONE! THE FUCK Pokemon? Y U DO THIS?

2.Easy: Yea i know its like this everytime but the game was too damn easy.

3.Champion: I'm sorry but i like wallace better as a champion. I' m a wally fangirl.

4 Transfer:No Easy way to transfer pokemon from xy to Oras without pokebank though this just might be a me problem.

To be fair, Rain, the transfer problem can only be solved by something like bank. I can't think of anything else that would be viable- sending Pokemon more than one at a time with only one system doesn't even make sense. Yeah they could have had bulk trading between two systems... but you don't have two systems.
