I asked someone on Facebook if they had any idea why a cat might drop dead, and this is the response I got. I hope this helps. Vanessa: She could have ate something she wasn't supposed to. There's a butt ton of stuff that when eaten enough of, could kill a cat, or any animal. Me: That's true. I'll ask my friend if she can check for any signs of that, although i'm not sure if there would be anything to see in that case. She did check for suffocation though, and didn't find anything lodged in her throat. Vanessa: If it's something she ate, she might have thrown up some where. Cats like to get sick in discreet places, so make sure she checks under couches and in dark corners. If it's something long term (that maybe she just might not have noticed) she can check the poo in the litter box, see if anything looks abnormal about her stool. Other than that, if she's really curious (or afraid for any other pets in the house) she could bring the cat in to her vets for a biopsy. She might consider washing any blankets and beds the cat slept on regularly, in case it was a contagious disease that did the cat in. |

We already tossed out her litter box, but her poos looked normal. As for vomit, I'll look around, but I don't know if I'll really find much. Thanks for all the advice, Wolf. It's all been a big help. |

Vanessa also said this: Also, one of my friend's cats used to pee in weird places until they moved the litter box into a more discreet area. Some cats are picky and won't relieve in an area that smells really of aerosol spray, in high traffic areas like hallways or offices ect. I would have moved the litter box into an area where the cat peed the most regularly. Annnnd that's enough outta me. |
