I agree with all of your points. I feel like it's the slasher film of disaster films due to the way the deaths are kinda placed. Especially the one with the subplot you were talking about, even if that is one of the better scenes imo.
Oop @ u calling it the slasher of disaster films... Not u finding that sub-plot 2 be 1 of the better scenes, it's so damn messy
that death is my fave what did ya think about the one girl with the two kids. She was looking after them or something, and she was channeling a short hair style Funny doesn't mean it's worth faving
She was honest my fav charrie & it pissed me off what happened 2 her

Spoiler: click to toggle they literally disposed of her for no good reason RIGHT???? I thought the receptionist's affair subplot was lame tho, but the actual scene with the fire was suspenseful.
Spoiler: click to toggle the idea of being away from everywhere and no one knowing you're in a burning receptionist room. Also the whole jumping outta the window on fire is all kinds of iconique

Just rly coulda done w/out it, even w/ the wildness in the scene itself, it still felt rather mean-spirited, like most of the rest of the deaths.

Spoiler: click to toggle the most mean spirited death is the one in the elevator. Still can't get over it. Especially when the one and only douche in the movie ends up getting a painless death. Speaking of, I've met Richard Chimberlain who plays the douche in this movie back in the day.
