IMDB Blurb:
When Rebecca left home, she thought she left her childhood fears behind. Growing up, she was never really sure of what was & wasn't real when the lights went out...& now her little brother, Martin, is experiencing the same unexplained & terrifying events that had once tested her sanity & threatened her safety. A frightening entity with a mysterious attachment to their mother, Sophie, has reemerged. But this time, as Rebecca gets closer to unlocking the truth, there is no denying that all their lives are in danger...once the lights go out.

Decided 2 post this thread since the 2nd trailer premiered 2day, even tho I'm not particularly interested in this film, personally, esp. considering the 2nd trailer made this film feel as if it makes less sense than it did b4: if w/e tf this thing is used 2 be a little girl that currently has an attachment 2 her currently living bestie, y in the shit is she killing all these random ass ppl? Not 2 mention, y is she appearing 2 all these ppl in the 1st place when she could only be haunting this 1 bitch that clearly ain't got an issue w/ being haunted? I mean, sure, I'mma watch this movie anywho, so maybe it'll make sense then, but if even the trailer can't clarify that shit, how's the movie gonna do? :youlose:

Pray for mercy from Puss... in boots.
I finally saw the first trailer last week and it was as dumb as I thought it would be so I watched the Don't Breathe trailer again to wash away its shittiness.

It's odd, since I loved the short film this is based on, yet the trailers have all pretty much screamed "generic supernatural horror pablum". That's what happens when your idea meets the Hollywood machine.

Makes more sense y independent films have always been a common occurrence & tend 2 be the most remembered, now, doesn't it? Posted Image

I think the last time that "Hollywood" horror was objectively superior to indie horror was the '70s. After that, it was the indies and foreign filmmakers that led the path, with the slashers of the '80s and again with torture porn, J-horror, and found footage in the '00s. (Scream was a pure Hollywood product, true, but if all the crappy ripoffs of that film are any indication, it only proves my point.) Perhaps not coincidentally, the '70s were also the decade when Hollywood was willing to take more risks than ever before or since, and was also shooting for artistic credibility.

Regardless, so far this is getting surprisingly good reviews. Given that there's only six recorded on Rotten Tomatoes so far, though, I doubt its 100% score is gonna hold for long. Most likely, it's gonna be a "good, but not great" film.

Interesting way of putting it, even tho I think both mainstream & independent horror in the 1970s were pretty evenly matched in terms of popularity/quality, & I also think including the international market in the 1970s makes sense also considering the advent of gialli films, even if only certain films got American releases until the home video market introduced Americans 2 more of them in the 1980s. Even tho I'll definitely agree that 1970s films were al2gether much more willing 2 be inventive/risky, whereas if u examine films that've subsequently followed, they've more or less just become predictable, hollow copies of previous material w/ some gems that r able 2 glimmer thru the material regurgitating machine that is Hollywood, mostly thnx 2 the independent/international filmmakers who, 4 the most part, r putting in the extra effort 2 make their films worthwhile.

I get the feeling that these "surprisingly good reviews" might be stretching the truth just a little just becuz of the studio association, not 2 detract from the work of the budding filmmaker who made this his 1st official film, as I think his attempt 2 almost entirely keep the antagonist a silhouette backed by lighting is a rather inventive/difficult approach that I can personally appreciate the effort of, but, ya, none of the trailers look particularly great & the plot doesn't exactly make the most sense, based on the trailers, so, unless it RLY fucking serves, I don't suspect it being amazing.

"BUDDY THE ELF, WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE COLOR?"
Just got out of a preview screening and I have to say I really liked this a lot. The ghost has a unique story, the movie is well acted, it's brimming with suspense, and it honestly kept me on my toes.

It wasn't perfect though. It had some faults such as the ending being a little lackluster in how it concluded. But overall it was great and a creepy fun time at the movies. Everyone applauded and cheered after the movie. Plus the entire theater was outside telling the rep how much they loved the movie.

That's pretty awesome that the crowd was such a good 1 since I'm always hearing on Stuckmann's channel about film festivals/screenings that r just absolutely terrible when it comes 2 the audience, so, good on that crowd 4 still appreciating the film, even it ends in an underwhelming manner
