^ Go gurrrl. Okay I dunno why I did that, but srsly, go gurl.

This movie looks amahzing on Blu-Ray, and is still somewhat creepy (but not as creepy as it was in theaters) with a good sound system and what-not to get you immersed in it. I enjoyed it a lot watching it at home.

I thought this sucked, in all honesty. Seeing it the day after Sinister DID NOT help.

First off, the concept is basically Amityville Horror 2.0. Family moves into new house, house is haunted by ghosts, ghost possess the parent, parent tries to butcher kids. The only real difference (at least compared to the remake) was that the parent is given a generic exorcism rather than being dragged from the house. Yawn. Making it some lame attempt at a period piece doesn't make up for the complete unoriginality.

The atmosphere itself was just totally average, and the jump scares were completely ineffective. I don't think I even half jumped. The attempts at suspense were downright laughable. "Who's farting!? :O "

Also, in a cast of a dozen characters, they couldn't even give one a personality trait? I didn't care about these people. I didn't even care enough to hate them. I was completely and utterly indifferent to every single character in this movie. Zero, literally zero, character development. I honestly couldn't name a personality trait for the mom if I tried, beyond like... "seems nice."

And no, it's not Rated R for "being too scary" like they said, it's Rated R for "sequences of disturbing violence and terror," which it earned with that exorcism ending.

0/10. I love a good supernatural movie, but this movie reeked of been there, done that. And it didn't even have a good execution to make up for it.

I thought the scariest part of the movie was the opening scene, to be honest. Something about haunted dolls that freaks me out. The scene with Annabelle and the daughter was bloody creepy too.

My other favourite parts...
- When the daughter was petrified because there was something behind the door...and then it slammed shut! Oh Lord!
- The clapping game with the mother, so creepy.
- I found the daughter headbutting against the cupboard to be really scary in a subtle way.
- The very end, when nothing appeared in the toy. So well done.

Overall I enjoyed it. I haven't watched many of these types of films but the ones I have watched I don't tend to find many differences between, they seem very generic. Anybody have some suggestions as to one that is a bit 'out there'?

7/10

Sinister was pretty original for a haunted house movie.

"I wonder if years from now Horror Movies will explore the horrifying terror of looking into a Sega Genesis?" :dies:

I just about died. :dies: That whole thing was amazing. Even if I love the movie. <3

Too lazy to make a thread for the sequel, but I just finally saw it.

I'd say that reviews are pretty fair. It was definitely good. I was entertained throughout. I need more time to reflect and possibly see it again but I definitely recommend it and think it was better than the first.

I'm giving Megan dibs on the sequel thread anyway since she's not MIA, same goes 4 any other individual franchise thread that needs multiple 1s (I'm just 2 lazy 2 make the post announcing that "dibs" system :flab: )

That's what I've been hearing as well tho, which makes me happy since I've kinda grown meh on the 1st over time. It was k, but nothing monumental 4 me, so if the sequel tops it, I say fuck ya. :oop:
