THE BROKE MEGAN FOX

![]() Three film students vanish after traveling into a Maryland forest to film a documentary on the local Blair Witch legend, leaving only their footage behind. You either like it a lot, or you want it to burn in hell. Which team are you? |

This did nothing for me, honestly. I don't hate it, and I do love the ending. The real star of this movie was the marketing. And yeah, PA wishes it was Blair Witch. |

I'd just like 2 say, becuz I'm back on the Stephen King saddle again, I think that if he were 2 write a remake of this, it would be the best version we'd ever get of it. While his writing may be shaky @ times, I think he'd do wonders w/ the already fantastic backstory & just bring life 2 Burkitsville & the charries like never seen b4.

It sounds like they made the new Blair Witch just for you. I'm in the "like it a lot" camp. |

still gotta admire the promotional team for this, and also the graphic designers as the poster is a simple yet a beautifully effective way of capturing the mood and atmosphere of the movie. Also the typography is really nice, and i love how they incorporated the wood things in it. The movie is irritating bc it's not re-watchable, but I think it works upon the first viewing. I mean, I get so bored by it now but when I first saw it - I was invested in the story of the blair witch and wanted to know more - after the movie ended I was interested and intrigued which isn't a bad reaction. However, back when I was 8 or 9, my family rented this on VHS and it scared the hell outta me. The second time I watched I was intrigued because I was far older and understood it more. Both times I never enjoyed the characters though and felt they were irresponsible, repulsive, annoying, or a combination of those three. |

Oh ya, as much as I personally dislike the film, I feel like the marketing 4 this was fucking amazing & arguably 1 of the best marketing jobs ever done 4 a movie becuz it fooled every1 in2 believing this shit was real. As 4 the rest...ya, I adore the backstory presented in the film itself, but the rest of it just pales in comparison becuz A) It lacks any sort of score 2 amp up the tension, B) It's already crippled by a low budget that constrains the film 2 a very grainy look & a lack of visually arresting imagery (outside the house in the conclusion), & C) The entire backstory just feels as if it's non-consequential in the grand scheme of things. This ultimately makes the film simply about 3 filmmakers interested in said backstory & getting killed by something the film doesn't even bother attempting 2 explain. Is it this supposed "Blair Witch?" #WhoTheFuckKnows #TheMovieSureAsShitDoesnt (even tho, apparently, there was supposed 2 be 1 shot in the original running that ft. a glimpse @ the witch herself...despite that still not answering whether she's responsible or not) As 4 the charries, ya, couldn't give a fuck about em, no questions about it. I would like 2 enjoy this film as much as several other ppl do & do find certain things enjoyable about it, but, overall, I think it's just an example of the hype overrating the shit out of a kk movie that wouldn't have received as much attention had it not been 4 the spot-on marketing.

If only this were actually serving up a restoration/collector's edition/limited edition/w/e, I'd consider buying :http://bloody-disgusting.com/news/3433530/arrow-video-releasing-blair-witch-project-retrospective-book/ |

The DVD is already quite fully-featured IMO. Director's commentary, alternate endings, deleted scenes, and the Curse of the Blair Witch mockumentary. It's basically got everything that a conventional special edition DVD release could possibly have. All they could really add to that would be to do a twenty-years-later retrospective, looking back at the film's legacy in terms of both the found footage genre and viral marketing. A "restoration" would also go against everything the film tries to be -- the whole point is that it's meant to look like home video shot by three backpackers/amateur filmmakers lost in the woods, not a professionally-made Hollywood movie. Which is why they should instead do something far more ambitious: gather all the footage they shot for this, put it on a Blu-Ray, and let people assemble their own cuts of the film, sifting through the hours of footage to figure out "what really happened" to them. It'll probably never happen, because who knows how much of the unused footage still exists, but it's definitely an idea. |
