Yeah, I know. But I think this can be looked at as part of the franchise since this obviously takes place in the same universe as the other four movies, right?

PA 2's Ali is in there, and even young PA 3's Katie and Kristy.

"BUDDY THE ELF, WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE COLOR?"
Hmmm it definitely looks interesting I agree.

For me, this series has been a mixed bag. 2 and 4 were good, the latter actually being a little scary even. (I know this opinion is unpopular, but I think "4" may be the best of the bunch to me) I liked "1" but it's nothing special in my opinion.

"3" to me was just a fucking mess.

Will definitely give "The Marked Ones" a shot though, because the trailer impressed me.

Looks like a cool spin-off.

Plus, it's coming out before my birthday, so that'll be a fun way to spend it.

Worst horror series ever.
No, scratch that, worst movie series ever. How they've turned a movie where literally nothing happens for 89 minutes AND the characters/acting suck into a successful franchise is beyond me. I would give all four I've seen 0/10s, and I don't think Marked Ones would fare all that much better.

I disagree about the first one being terrible, it seemed very fresh and inovative at the time. It also had better pacing then the slog fests of 2 through 4 which seemed to just be repeating ideas from the first.

I disagree about the first one being fresh and innovative. What's fresh about doors closing and banging walls? It's definitely not the found footage aspect, since that's been done before.
Besides, the first movie's issue is that nothing happens for 89 minutes. It's the same thing over and over. Door closes. Wall is hit. Etc.

The characters were also dreadful. Can anyone actually name a personality trait to Katie beyond "Doesn't like being filmed?" The terrible actress didn't help. As for Micah, what an absolute douchebag. And a stupid one at that.

I know it wasn't fresh or original, but when watching, it seemed that way. I personally hadn't seen something like that since Blair Witch ( in terms of found footage and amateur actors). I agree that the characters were annoying and the acting sucked.

You just said that it didn't suck because it was fresh and original?

Regardless, PA did has already been done elsewhere. That alone means it doesn't get originality points. Possessions have been done. The way it handled found footage has been done elsewhere. The scare tactics have been done. Combining a bunch of unoriginal ideas together doesn't make a movie original.
And, as I said, originality is the least of that abomination's problems. The primary one being that literally nothing happens for 89 minutes. There was absolutely nothing to be scared of in "the scariest movie ever."

I don't even like Blair Witch that much, but it has a cool concept, a great ending, and originality (not because it's found footage, since that's been around before Blair Witch even, but for the execution) on its side. Its also a bit more eventful than doors closing AND people thought it was actually real. PA doesn't have any of that on its side.
